 It's been awhile since I visited lapbandtalk but I need some support right now. I was banded in Jan. 2006 and have been the storybook patient. I lost a total of 110 lbs. and did not have any problems. I considered the band my miracle and my new lease on life. When I was first banded, fellow bandsters on lapbandtalk got me thru all the little issues I had no idea about or how to cope with something. Now I need some help again.... In July, I started noticing I could eat more that I should be eating. I hadn't had a fill in over a year because I was losing just fine. I had been maintaining from Feb. of this year until July and I was so happy with my weight. Then all of a sudden, it was like the bottom dropped out. I could eat just about anything and couldn't seem to get full. I went to the doc and he seemed to think it was a slippage. I did a swallow and it really didn't show anything. So, the doc did a fill of 1.0 cc and I told him I didn't feel anything. Not like the feeling I had had before on successful fills. He did this one and told me to come back in 4 weeks. Well, I went back, he tried another fill. We waited again, and no success. I went back last week (after having gained 20 lbs back already). We did an endoscope and it showed the band had eroded. I am scheduled for surgery this Wed. to have it removed. I have cried and cried. The doc told me it was absolutely nothing that I did, that my stomach just finally rejected the band. I AM SO SCARED.....scared of gaining my weight back, scared of the hole in my stomach after its removal, scared it will get infected. So, needless to say I'm a mental case and my husband is trying to be as supportive as possible, but its hard for him to really understand. So, I just wanted to see how others have coped who have had erosion problems/slippages, etc. and had to have your band taken out. Any ideas or support would greatly be appreciated!!! Thanks so much, Greta

Band Eroded -now coming out...so depressed
Iziksmom replied to Iziksmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
What is a sleeve? I haven't heard about that and my doctor didn't mention it. When I asked if I could have another band, he said no. We didn't discuss any other options. Erosion is something that I never really considered happening since it only occurs in about 1% of the patients. The biggest shocker was that I had no symptoms other than the being able to eat more. But if you ask me, would I have not done it what I know now, heavens no. I've gotten 90 lbs off with it and I'm SOOOOO thankful for that. I wish you the best of luck with yours.....if you do what you're supposed to, it is a godsend!! -
I had my first fill April 18 for 1.5 cc and everything worked like a charm. I lost pretty steadily. I went in for a checkup/fill this past Tuesday. The doctor felt like I was doing okay but wanted to know what I wanted to do. I was afraid of getting stagnant, so we agreed to fill "just a little". I did liquids for 48 hours. Now, I'm back on solids but am having some chest pain about an hour and a half after I eat. I having a pain sorta in my left breast area. Last night it bothered me so bad, that I slept in the recliner. It had passed by the time I got up this morning. I had a Protein shake for Breakfast, then this afternoon, I had a few chicken bites that went down fine and I was full. About 1-2 hours later, I started feeling really tight in my chest and now I have a pain in the left breast area. I don't need to PB and I don't feel like I have to throw up, just the pain. :girl_hug: Has anyone experienced this kind of discomfort 4 days after a fill. Like I said, I never had a single problem with my first fill. Actually, I think it took 2 weeks to kick in completely. I guess I'm just a little scared right now. If anybody has anything to share, I would greatly appreciate it. Maybe I should go back to liquids???? Thanks so much!!!

I just PM'd Moon Goddess and let her know that I mailed her package yesterday! Hubby was supposed to have mailed it last week while I was on travel and it never got done! So, I mailed it first thing yesterday morning! I guess I'll be in timeout for bad behavior!!! My gift arrived this week while I was gone. It was a beautiful quilted throw from SherriJo. I absolutely love it!!! If I have a chance to day and can figure out how to, I will post a picture. I apologize profusely to Mood Goddess for keeping her in suspense!! Hopefully it will arrive there Tuesday or Wed. at the latest due to Monday's holiday.

I brought this up in another thread, so I thought I'd just make it a topic on its own. Has anyone ever thought of doing some kind of clothes swap through a posting board on here?? I know I've gone down 2 sizes and what now might not work for me, might help someone else through the "pass-thru" sizes. We are all at so many different stages and don't really plan on staying there, it doesn't make sense to pay alot of money for new clothes that we're not gonna stay in long. Sooo, anyone else have any thoughts on this or how it might work. I had one response in another thread that a group in Mesquite met and did this. Would love to hear some pros/cons and see whatcha think!

Hi GreatDame! I am next door to you over in Henry County! Sounds like you are off to a great start!! Keep up the good work! I was banded in January and have done pretty good so far. Where is Dr. C located? Is he in LaGrange or do you go to L'ville?

I haven't posted in awhile here, so I thought I'd update my numbers. I'm so excited that I hit the 50 lb mark!!! My next mini-goal is making it to onederland!! I'm so excited! I really appreciate all the support that I've received here on LBT because it lets me know I'm not on this journey alone!! H 274.5/ S 268/ G 135/ C 221.5 (-53 lbs total)
-
Hey Heather, Count me in!! I really enjoyed the last one!! Did you get your purple bracelet?? Just wanted to check and make sure! Thanks!!!
-
Well, I'm down 1 more lb. to 226. I'm assuming that this is the last post for the spring boot camp. I do my measurements and body fat % at the doctors and I don't visit him until next week. So, my final tallies will have to stay with what I've got to date.

OMG - carb heaven here!! I was a total pizza, tacos, chips, dip, JUNKIE!!! If I could have, I would have eaten pizza 7 days a week. I never did crave sweets but bring on the chips! Not to mention cokes and dr. pepper's! I would drink probably 3-5 soft drinks per day. I haven't had the first soft drink since I had surgery though....almost 5 months without a dr. pepper. That is the one thing my head demons still have me craving though. Thank God I know the carbonation is bad for the band or I would probably have given in by now!

How Long Before your Bad Habit were broken w/Lapband
Iziksmom replied to juliegeraci's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm with NJChick....I'm 5 months out but about 2 weeks ago, I've started wanting the junk stuff again. I'm finding myself trying to convince myself I'm not hungry. I think I want to graze (plus its hot and ice cream is going down VERY well). I'm sooo excited with what I've lost to date, that I'm sorta losing focus on the big picture. Sooo, I need to get my HEAD back in the game. But I was good to go those 4 1/2 months as I appeared to be the lapband poster child!! :-) -
Finally got the scale to budge (or was it my butt??)....down 1.0 lb. I'll take it!! Hey Sarge, hope you're doing lots better! Take care....

Gosh, Diane, thanks for this thread because I am right there, right now with you!! I have done so good to this point a nd it seems like I'm back to making bad decisions.:fish: I have found that chips & pizza :pizza:go down without any problem. Not good. I almost wish they would make me PB that way I know I wouldn't want them. It's a head game right now and I have got to fight the demons! How could I do so good and them boom...lose sight so quick. I think maybe it's like someone posted before, I've lost weight, my clothes feel good, people tell me I look good, and now I'm happier than I've been in a long time. I don't need to take a break, I need to march on. Sooooooo, I haven't offered any advice, just yakking to let you know that I know exactly how you feel. I've seen your before/after pics and you look awesome!! Let's try to hang in there!!!

I have been on vacation and mine was waiting on me when I got back! Penni sent me some awesome bling!! I love jewelry so the necklace and earrings I received were perfect, plus they were my birthstone!! When I get a chance, I will take a pic of me with them. Because of vacation, I've been slow to get mine out. However, it is headed to the southwest today!!! Thanks again Penni!!:clap2:
-
Well.....been on vacation and had too much ice cream!!! I guess on the bright side, I didn't gain but I didn't lose either. So, numbers for this week remain the same as last. My thoughts and prayers are with you I'llsucceed. Take care.....

My second fill was last week. I watched my calories religiously (between 1,000-1,200 per day) before my first fill. My doctor said that he didn't want me counting calories. He said that he would have me going out to dinner with my friends, not counting calories, but instead having regular food, yet just small amounts. Sooooo, I haven't counted calories since my first fill and I have lost quite steadily. I drink my Protein shakes for Breakfast (I just don't want real food in the morning) and the protein really satisfies the hunger. I make certain I get my protein and Vitamins in daily. I haven't counted in a while, but I'm still losing. I'm just a little over 4 months out and I've lost 47 lbs. to date. My doc recommended liquids 48 hours after I got my second fill last week. Well, on hour 49 I had real food. Golly Moses, did I start hurting. I didn't pb, it all went down. But an hour later, I thought I was dying. I called the doc back and he told me to continue liquids a few more days, then transition back to mushies (mashed taters, etc.). Kinda like I did right after surgery. So, I did and it's worked so far. Sorry if I rambled. Maybe you understood:confused: what I was saying! Good luck with everything!!

Before and After Lap Band Surgery - PICTURES ONLY
Iziksmom replied to DeLarla's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
OMG, this is my first posting of pictures. I am so excited that I can finally see a difference. I'm down 47 lbs. and feel so much better! I look at my surgery picture and think how in the world???? I still have a long ways to go, but I just had to share. Wheetsin had the quote right...apparently I "was" a beautiful person before, but I am so much HAPPIER now that it couldn't be better stated! I'llsucceed - OMG, you look fabulous!! You're pics tell such a story! What an inspiration! P'nut - I'm jealous! I'm 5'4", 227 lbs. and still stuck in a size 22! You go girl!! I love all the support here...THANKS so much!!! (p.s. I hope the attachment shows up with the pictures...if not, someone please help the village idiot!! :biggrin1: ) weightloss.doc -
It honestly took me about 2-3 weeks after my first fill to tell a difference and then I really could. My doctor was really pleased when I went last week with my loss and didn't really want to do another fill as I was averaging .75 lb. loss per week. I felt I needed a jump start though so we did one. But, anyway, give it another week or two and see if you notice a difference. I was skeptical when people told me it might take a while to kick in, but by golly it did! Hang in there and good luck!!

Good evening Sarge! I'm running a day behind but pretty good numbers to report. I'm down another 1.5 lbs!! YEA!! Although, I am having some major discomfort after my fill last week. No pb'ing or anything but some really hurting pain about 2-4 hours after I eat. I'm doing mostly liquids and I just can't figure this pain out. Anyway.... down 1.5 lbs!! :-)

I'm not a big hot dog fan, but I've been fortunate that I've been able to eat them as long as I chew, chew, chew (no bun of course). Considering I spend 5 of 7 nights at the ball park, I've had one or two in the last few weeks. I just make sure I dip it in mustard to give it some liquid to slide down with.:nervous
