feeling week and almost passed out-HELP
Iziksmom replied to Txblue_eyedqt's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had the same problem earlier this week. My nutritionist has me shooting between 1000-1200 calories per day. Well, when I went in to work out on Tuesday, I felt like I could just fall over. We did a quick snapshot of my calories and I had cut back to about 600 per day. He had a fit! That day alone I had only had 300 so far, so he wouldn't let me work out. He said that if you don't get enough calories in, then your body can go into a starvation mode and even though you are eating less, you won't lose weight. He said that I did need some carbohydrates because they do give you energy. I had concentrated so much on the protein, that I had gone off one end, and forgot about the other. So, I'm back to trying to eat at least 1000 calories and do it balanced. My protein and some carbs. Don't know if this helps you any, but I do feel better getting back onto the path the nutritionist helped me with. Good luck!!!! -
:cry I finally had my first pb yesterday. I was eating chicken too fast and it got stuck. I had just wrote last week I didn't understand pb'ing but I do now. I burper probably 25 times and then it came up. I feel like total crap today though. I am sore in my clavicle area and just don't want much to eat. I'm also paranoid that I might have slipped my band. I'm one month banded. I don't really know how much it takes to make it slip but could one throw up do it and if so, how would I know?? Kinda scared! Any input would be greatly appreciated!!:scared:

Anyone used FitDay PC software to track food, weight, etc?
Iziksmom posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My sister sent me this website FitDay.com to look at. It tracks your food, activity, goals, etc. You can also purchase the software for $20 which is more indepth. Just wondering if anyone has used it and does it work good for you? -
Hi, I am one month banded and have lost 22 lbs. My physical therapist said that if I can continue to lose and monitor my food intake, then I would be better off to not get a first fill (due in 3 weeks). He said as long as I was losing then it would be to my advantage to not be so restricted if I was still doing good. Has anyone done so well that you didn't get your first fill and prolonged it just by following good diet, exercise??? Boy it seems like that would be nice....

My doc said that crystal light can count towards my 64 ounces of water because it has only 5 calories and no caffeine. My question is does sugar free koolaid also count towards water??? I can't find anywhere where is says it does or doesn't have caffeine...:welldone2: Thanks!!!

Okay, it's not a stupid question because I still can't figure it out! :-) I am 4 weeks banded now and I have little episodes where it's like I'm gonna hiccup or burp and nothing comes out. But my chest heaves maybe once(does that make sense) and it kinda hurts a little. Is this a PB???? Nothing's ever come back up and I haven't vomited so I thought I was doing just fine. Do ya think I've PB'd and didn't know it? Wonder if these kind of little episodes will hurt the band??? I have lots of brain farts but I need help determining if I have Pb's! :-)

Congratulations!! I also have a son in the 4th grade and fully understand those projects! My son is on the academic team and in the gifted/talented programs which garners some teasing from the bullies from time to time. I tell him that we are so proud of him and that not to worry about the bully kids. So tell you son to keep those :scared: coming as I tell my son the same! Enjoy the spotlight!!!:welldone2:

How much pain/discomfort am I suposed to be in?
Iziksmom replied to Nickysmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was one of the fortunate ones in that I didn't have much pain with the incisions after my surgery. I did however, have the gas. I used the chewable gasx pills and they worked great. I still had some pain in my left shoulder 2 weeks after the surgery and I kinda got scared. My neice is an anesthesiologist and she said that residual anesthesia can stay with you for that long. So, don't get scared like I did if it don't go away in just a few days after surgery. The gasx and walking is a good attempt at relieving it though. I also had these hiccup/trying to burp thing the first week. It subsided about day 8 or 9 though. I can burp okay now as long as I don't overeat. Good luck and hang in there! -
Merci Beaucoup!!! Excel spreadsheet worked like a charm.:thumb:

Well, I would like to track my stats but since I work for the government, you know, I'm probably too lazy to do any work on my own! haha Can you tell me if there is a website that has a free download format for one of these sheets or did everyone do their own? I really like Excel format. Thanks for your help!:clap2:

I also had mine done in Louisville but my cost was $18,500. (gosh, cashley how did you get that $1,000 discount? :-) It does include the year followup. I never thought twice about it though. My husband just says that for 18,500 if I slack he has the right to kick me in the butt! LOL

I am 3 weeks post banded and everything has gone just perfect. Then 3 days ago, it seems as if I have something stabbing me in the bottom of my esophagus. It feels like when you have something stuck and then its sore afterwards. But, I didn't have anything get stuck. All I had that day was mashed potatoes and some ice cream. I really only feel it when I swallow a certain way or take a really deep breath. It doesn't feel far down in my stomach, just at the bottom of my throat. Does that make sense to anybody?? I'm just wondering if anyone experienced anything like this? Oh, I did take some tylenol that day but I cut them up to swallow. I just can't figure out what I've done. :help: Thanks for any insight you might have!!!

I just thought I would reply that iluvharleys is right. My doctor's take home orders said I could start those things I listed in my previous post 5 days after surgery if I was good to go. Everyone should go by their doctors orders!!

Hi folks! I was banded on 1/25/06 and am 3 weeks post op. I was sick of chicken broth too. I lived on sugar free fudgesicles, cream of potato soup (strained), cream of mushroom soup and other cream soups. They tasted wonderful after all the broth. I also had low fat yogurt. It all went down fine. I found that if I were hungry, about mid-morning I would drink 20 oz. of crystal light and the same in mid-afternoon. I got creative one night when I fixed pork chops for my family. I took the pork chops out, put cr. of mushroom soup in skillet and had soup that had the pork flavor to it. (but we routinely use the m. soup for gravy on meat and/or potatoes.) It did give it a nice taste! Be creative.... Thank God though for those sugar free fudgesicles during that time!!

I was so excited and pumped up for the surgery that I had no anxiety beforehand and the pain afterward was probably a 2 if that. My incisions just did not hurt. I came home and slept good all night and relaxed and slept most of the next day. Talk about taking adavantage of lounging around! Don't put your effort in worrying about the pain, put your adrenaline to work be excited about the future and what it holds!!!!

Hi everyone! I am newly banded (1/25/06) and just checked out this website. A fellow bander at rehab exercise last night told me to visit here. I'm looking forward to the support network here as we have all (or are going) down the same path. I've enjoyed reading many of the posts already to check out things. I look forward to keeping up with folks here as I know I will need support throughout this journey! Thanks for being here!!!:clap2:
