I am a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), which means I put people to sleep for sugery. Chances are if you all had lap-band surgery a CRNA took care of you!

Will I need help getting out of bed after surgery?
blueriley replied to dietpeach's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had no problems getting out of bed, the first couple of days it hurt a little to do so though. Good luck! -
I hate when people do not know the difference between lose and loose
-
I am not sure anyone could really answer this for you. For example you and I could work for different companies and both have insurance through CIGNA. However my employer may have opted out of coverage for bariatric services while your company opted to cover them. Does this make sense?

Mirena snd having hot flushes, swollen tumm
blueriley replied to slimmy120's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would call your doctor, it may be nothing but it probably would ease your mind just to check. -
Can someone tell me 10c bra is 12b?
blueriley replied to slimmy120's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My suggestion is to go get fitted again especially if you have lost weight. I was amazed at how much more comfortable bras were when I got fitted correctly. Good luck! -
Sorry to hear that you are having problems:sad: What sort of body issues are you asking about?
-
 I would get a appt. with your surgeon asap, because like others have said your teething falling apart is probably due to stomach acid or *severe* nutritional abnormalities either way I highly doubt its plaque that is coming off. Please don't starve yourself. Your body will do what it has to do to get nutrients- like "steal" calcium from your bones and such, this can cause so many problems down the road for you like osteoporosis. I really am not trying to preach or scold you, I just worry when I see things like this. Does you surgeon have a nutrionist?

I am a nurse who has accessed many IV ports- like the ones cancer patients have in their chests for chemo and you can definately tell when you have hit the port, you feel the needle hit the metal back of the port. I mean I guess it could happen but I think its unlikely. If she did the saline will not hurt you, you will just absorb it.

When do they come out normally?
blueriley replied to lotzasunshine's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congrats on your impending band date! The band is usually *not* removed once the weight is lost, it is meant to be a permanent tool to help you not only lose the weight, but also keep the weight off. Good luck! -
Delivery and a band
blueriley replied to lotzasunshine's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
The band does not effect your ability to have a vaginal delivery. I have read that some women need to get a slight unfill at some point during their pregnancy. But otherwise you can have a completely normal pregnancy:thumbup: -
He had a complete unfill.

Trouble Getting in Calories?
blueriley replied to grossefemme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you need to add in more calories, to boost your metabolism and lose more weight. Its great that you are feeling full, have you already had a fill? -
I set a goal weight just to have a goal, but its definately subject to change! If I get to 150# and look and feel good, then that's what i will work to maintain.

My surgeon says he doesn't like to band folks over 65, unless they are a pretty healthy 65yo.

I have never had a vena cava filter, but I am a nurse who has seen them inserted and taken care of the patient after the procedure. Normally they insert the filter through your groin, they go in much like they do in a heart catheterization and they should numb the area with a local anesthetic. After that you should not feel much. Sometimes the nurses will give a anti-anxiety medication like versed to help you relax. After the procedure you will have to lay fairly flat for a couple of hours and probaly not do any heavy lifting for a couple of days. You may have some bruising or tenderness around the insertion site. Hope this helps! Good luck:biggrin:

string hanging out of port incision
blueriley replied to webbgirl259's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Don't pull it, either leave it alone or snip it. -
Leslie, thanks for posting this. I am fairly new to this board and there seems to be so much negativity. I have yet to be banded and all these complications and people who want their bands removed have seriously had me scared at times. I know there are risks of complications but if you read all the post on here it leads you to believe that the complication rate is much higher than reported.

Don't get discouraged! Appeal, get more documentation showing your comorbidities. You will read of many people on this forum that appealled numerous times before their insurance covered the procedure. If you truly want this surgery- buck up and get ready to fight for what you need:thumbup:

Help I am starting to feel like a failure.
blueriley replied to Michelle34's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You need more Protein ! That is why you are losing your hair. If you are unable to eat solid Proteins you might need a slight unfill or maybe try Protein shakes. Don't feel like a failure, you just need to find the right balance. You also might not be eating enough, which could be causing you to hang onto your weight. You can do this:biggrin: tmarie, you were faster than me! -
went to meeting, hospital wants $500.00 out pocket
blueriley replied to lpglarry's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My doctor requires this also, in my case its a program fee which covers the nutritionist, psych and excercise programs. I *think* its pretty common to have a program fee. The fees are usually not billable to insurance according to the insurance person at my surgeon's office. I work for the hospital where I am having surgery so I am only required to pay $50 for the program fee- at least there is one benefit to working there:rolleyes2: As far as how much your insurance will cover, that depends on your particular plan, I would call and speak with your carrier. -
anyone eating tv dinners for their meals?
blueriley replied to gone 4 ever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Be careful with the frozen dinners, they tend to have large amounts of sodium-I would avoid these if you have high blood pressure. -
My port is FLIPPED!!!
blueriley replied to kristylyn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yikes! Sorry this has happened! Is the surgeon charging you to fix this? I know you will incur hospital charges, but I don't think the surgeon should charge you for this complication so soon after surgery. Hopefully he sutures it better this time and that you heal quickly:biggrin: -
I agree it sounds like jealousy. She wanted to have this surgery first and now you are, she is just upset and probaly deep down not even at you really- she needs to deal with issues surrounding her weight.YWIM?
