  1. Hey back at ya!!!!

I live in Booneville, Mississippi. My surgeon is Dr. Walker Byars. If it's the same Dr. King, my M.D. is your M.D.'s partner. I too was self-pay and things were very, very swift. I was banded May 29th and have lost 52 pounds. I have had one adjustment (fill) and have done fine. This site is TOTALLY THE BOMB!!! I can't get started good in the mornings without logging on to see how everyone is and what everyone is saying. It's also the last thing I look at before bed. I trully believe lap band saved my life. I was an insulin dependent diabetic and hypertensive. Off ALL medication after banding. It's not magic, but it makes losing the weight lots, lots easier. Welcome aboard.

  2. I agree with everyone else. My M.D.'s expectations are 1-2 lbs per week, but he emphasizes that situations vary with each individual. I also agree 100% with the statements regarding what you put into exercise. My band has always been my tool for Portion Control. The battle in my head, i.e., "let's eat, let's eat, let's eat" still rages on. I've been addicted to food for 30 years and the addiction will not go away overnight, in a few days or even a few months, if ever. It irritates me that it can't be JUST about my stomach. The fight between me and the evil "eat, eat, eat" voice is the hardest part so far. But (and this is the MOST IMPORTANT PART) with the help of this site and the wonderful members, I WILL SUCCEED!!!!!. Thanks everyone, from the depths of my soul, THANKS.

  3. Haven't traveled anywhere since 05/29 (band date), but my M.D. did give me a card (size of a credit card) with his name, two contact numbers, and a big warning that "under no circumstances can this patient ever have a nasogastric tube placed!!" On the flip side it states "this patient has had stomach surgery (LAPBAND) and must eat very small meals. Please allow him/her to order smaller portions or from the children's menu". I thought this was going the extra mile on their part to help me even beyond the clinic setting.

    HAVE A GREAT VACATION!!!

  4. I believe you will find this site the MOST HELPFUL of any. I wake up daily knowing that people just like me are supporting me whether they know me or not. The is an almost spiritual kinship among us. I don't post very much, but just wanted you to know someone is thinking of you.

  5. Hey Kerri7227,

Congrats on you wonderful start. I go for my consult with my physician in Oxford, MS tomorrow (05/23/08). I have been on the pre-op diet plan x 5 days and have lost 15.8 lbs already. I have researched this all over the internet. I'm glad I finally ran up on this forum. Any hints after my surgery?
