Two month progress on duodenal switch surgery. White t shirt was the night before surgery, I weighed in around 287 if I recall, and I was about 235 in the black t shirt two months later. High weight about 60 days before surgery was 308. Sent from my Pixel 3 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Need a good LIE

I told people it was "preventative" surgery. (It prevented me getting diabetes etc) nobody ever asked what it was preventing and accepted it at face value. Sent from my Pixel 3 using BariatricPal mobile app -
When can I have toast again?
ColoradoCanuck posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm almost 3 months out from loop duodenal switch surgery and jonesing for a BLT, club sandwich, heck even just half a slice with some peanut butter. I certainly don't want to rush things. I was instructed to avoid bread, rice and pasta for 3-6 months, but I've also read that toast isn't so bad? Is that just a myth you is there something legit in the toasting that isn't as bad as plain squishy bread? Sent from my Pixel 3 using BariatricPal mobile app -
I'm 83 days out today (duodenal switch November 18th 2019) and I'm down about 83lbs total from my peak weight. Hit a stall this past week, actually gained a pound and a half which is slowly coming back off. Hoping for another 40-50 lbs by summer.

Duodenal switch surgery on past Tuesday.
ColoradoCanuck replied to HamHockSkye's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
You can do it!! You got this far. Follow your doctor's plan. Usually plain water and clear protein for a week or two then pureed food in week 3. I remember getting to eat hamburger meat, blended into paste with jarred gravy, tasted like heaven lol. I had my surgery right before Thanksgiving which was super tough. -

Hi Briggs, welcome to the forum! I had the DS mid November. I dealt with some pain for a few days as you are feeling. Most of the pain happened when I tried to sit more than an ounce of water at a time though. You have to resist eating any kind of food though, your stomach is absolutely not ready for that any time soon. It is very swollen from the surgery plus it's physically much smaller than before. You have to be extremely patient at this point, the first several weeks are critical for good healing. Your primary goal should be water to stay hydrated, then liquid protein. I guess I got lucky and don't mind the taste of Premiere protein shakes from Costco. You can always get unflavored protein powder and add it to water. Stay away from sugary drinks though. I had a protein water that was way too sweet, and eventually drank more Gatorade Zero. -

I stalled in week 3, but have done well dropping since halfway through week 4. I'm looking forward to talking to my nutritionist soon about meal planning going forward.

When can I have some rice? Lol
ColoradoCanuck replied to dpendleton02's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told no rice, bread, pasta etc for at least 3 months. I made cauliflower rice and stir fried it with some soy sauce, rice vinegar, some frozen veggies, and my kids thought it was actual fried rice. Sent from my Pixel 3 using BariatricPal mobile app -
I'm also using the Baritastic app, I'm just not used to tracking everything I eat. I have a nutritionist appointment coming up soon though, so I need to get better at logging my intake.

Every body is different. I'm almost 6 weeks out and I've lost over 40lbs. I had a duodenal switch though, not just a VSG. My doc says every meal should be 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food, but after 6 weeks I should be able to eat 1 whole cup of food, but nothing more than that, and it needs to be balanced for high protein, moderate healthy fats, and little to no sugar. So for you at 7 weeks, eating 3oz of food sounds fine, I think it's more about portion size and proportions of macros. Sent from my Pixel 3 using BariatricPal mobile app

Hi everyone. Had my surgery on November 18th and down about 40lbs, plus 21 leading up to the surgery. I keep thinking someone's pranking my scale... But I'm down into slim/straight jeans, down 3 more notches on my belt, heck even dropped a shoe size! Also stalled in week 3 but needed to make an emergency trip to another country cause we almost lost my dad. Traveling and adjusting to new food lifestyle is hard!! 37 days since surgery and creeping up on week 6 foods. Tonight I had a few small bites of ham, cranberry sauce, and some white beans for dinner, plus a 2 egg omelet with Dubliner cheese and green onions for breakfast. Finding it hard to track macros and I always feel constantly behind on water. (I think I'm just bored with plain water). Still drinking one or two protein shakes per day and loving the recipes folks post to help with variety. Gonna try a chocolate protein shake with some chilled decaf in the morning. Have to watch that I don't eat too quickly on yummy stuff. Gorged on 5 pieces of sashimi on Sunday and left half of it behind in the restaurant toilet. Sweet stuff turns my stomach. My sense of smell is in overdrive. I'm loving the journey. Happy holidays, hope you're all doing great! Sent from my Pixel 3 using BariatricPal mobile app

How often do others weigh themselves?
ColoradoCanuck replied to Binglebug1977's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get up, do my business on the toilet, step to undies and a t shirt, and weigh. Then I weigh again, then enter that into my app. Every morning. I think I've only missed a few days since my surgery mid-November Sent from my Pixel 3 using BariatricPal mobile app -
