Thank you Shortgal, I have been blessed, just two bumps in my journey where I had to get 2 unfills, now I know what the problem was.:rolleyes2: -
Family friend died from lapband surgery last week

So true, that's why I do not recommend anyone to do the surgery, I can only speak for myself. I would feel so awfull for the rest of my life if I recommend for someone to do it and something happens to them. I am praying for the family. -
Bandlady I'm assuming you are addressing me, anywayz I also seem to gain alot of Water weight when I eat high sugary carbs, once I stop eating the bad carbs and start back on my low carb diet, I will lose 25-30 lbs in 3/4 days.
-
Thanks Summer for that info, I will look for that Ebony Nov issue:wink2:
-
It took me about 3-4 fills were I could only eat a 1/2 to 1 piece of chix and a small amout of veggies. I have the large 10cc band. I used to have hip pain, not no more!!

Thanks Ziahmama:biggrin:Yes I stay on a low carb diet 80/20 percent of the time. During the holidays I just enjoyed whatever I wanted to eat, of course I paid for it in the hip and butt area, but it is coming off again because I'm back to being strict again. How much I eat at a meal all depends on this band, some times of the day it is tighter than others. But most times I can eat 1/2 piece of chicken and a lil green salad or veggie. I do stall sometimes but it is only because I'm eating more carbs than I should or I'm not drinking enough water. It took me 9 months to lose the first 100 lbs. I really should be at goal by now but I had to get 2 unfills during my journey and both times I ate like a pig and gain about 25-30 lbs:eek::smile:. The two most important lessons I have learned during my journey is to drink enough water and to make sure you have at least 3-4 bm's per week. I had went 2 weeks without a bm and my band got so tight that I could not eat or drink. I got severly dehydrated and had to stay in the hospital for a few days. I did not learn this lesson until my 2nd stay at the hospital. Both times I had to get a unfill and gained alot of weight after the unfill. I'm doing great now as long as I pay attention to what I'm doing.

You are doing good Crishell, I'm looking forward to turning 40 next month too. I'm pushing to be at goal by then or to be at goal by my 2 year anniversary which is 3-7-08.

Hi Saninbham, I don't persuade anyone about the band. I can only tell people what the Lord has done for me, thru the band. I know several people in my support band group that have not lost much weight at all, and one lady even died a few months ago. We still don't know if it was band related or not. I tell people to pray about because it is a life changing decision that should not be taken lightly. Wishing you much success:wink:

That's truly amazing a doctor that prays with and for you, you are truly blessed.

Yeah, I know I go and come. I'm having fun being a normal size person. Sometimes I check in but don't post.

I looked into wls years ago before the band hit the U.S. I was checking out gbypass, made the appt. but I stopped and prayed about it and the Lord said NO. So I stopped dieted on my own lost and gained the same 75lbs over and over for a few years, I just gave up. Living life as a very obese woman. Than I heard about the band, prayed about it....No answer from the Lord. Prayed again and the Lord answered me with a Yes, so here I am today looking and doing great with over 200 lbs lost!!
-
I was wearing sz 34/36 now I'm wearing 14/16. I have picked up a few pounds over the holidays but they are coming off pretty fast since I just had a fill a few days ago. I do have some pics in the before and after thread, my latest ones I posted around Nov. 14 so you can check them out. I have more pics in that thread too, but they are so far back.

I have not lost any hair, I'm all natural and my hair is strong and long. And I'm a success story.
-
When I hit my sweet spot after about 4 fills I was good without needing any more fills, it lasted for about a year until I had to get an unfill, then I had to start all back over again.

I went to a pre TG dinner this past Thursday at my son's school and they had everything. I was able to eat a bite or two of everything on my plate. Which was about 6-7 bites, I was stuffed. TG day we will be going to relatives and bringing a dish, all I can say is Thank You Lord for this band because before I would've been eating all this week leading up to TG with all these pre TG dinners from school and work. A few bites of food and I'm good to go. I plan on eating whatever I want for that day and getting back to my proteins the very next day. With plenty of turkey left over it should be easy.:hungry:

Please share your tips for battling head hunger.
tann replied to bandster_1007's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm 20 months out and I'm still dealing with head hunger, you guys have given some great advice. I'm a recovering carb/sugar addict:heh:So I try to stay away from my trigger foods, but if I really want something that I'm not suppose to have, I will either make a low carb version of it, talk myself out of it, or have a small piece of it and drink alot of water with it. Food does not do it for me like it used to, so now I just focus on other parts of my life. I'm very happy with my weightloss thus far, even tho I should be at goal by now. -
For as many horror stories there are success stories, I'm a success. This is a major life changing decision that ONLY you can make for yourself. I do no persuade anyone one way or the other. This was the best choice for ME. This Saturday I'm going to a funeral of a fellow lapbander, she was banded in Aug.'06. They said she died of "natural causes". Who knows??? I prayed and did alot of research before I got my band and 220 lbs in 20 months later, I'm very happy with MY DECISION. If it doesn't feel right to you, than follow your heart.

WOW!!!You are doing a outstanding job!!:whoo:
