How do I get insurance to pay for this?
ckelly37 replied to ISOME's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had aetna and they wouldnt pay for it either it was excluded from the policy (bariatric surgery) so i decided to switch companies i went to personal choice standard option plan i got the insurance on july 1st and got approved july 8th it was fast..i was banded 9/8 all i had to pay was 1,300 out of pocket which is better than 17,000 so do some research and see what company is better for u -
3 months out and i made my goals!!!!

Excuse me but that was kind of rude remark!! In womens size it aint 10 sizes ...it it goes 14/16 18/20 22/24 26/28 so 30 lbs could of gotten her to that..there are key factors here if she doesnt have any muscle fat squeezes into clothes better than when u have muscle it all depends on her frame...so take back what u said and be happy for her!! GREAT JOB!!!! -
I do billing and they are all right..If the doctor is in network with tricare than they have an allowed amount (contracted) with each other!! If he is he can not bill u the difference only copays, deductible and coins...i have personal choice and had to pay 2 things for my surgery 1 was my ded 500.00 and second was coinsurance my total came out to be 1300.00 out of pocket which wasnt bad since they billed 17,000. call ur insurance company and ask them what u will be liable for.

I wear spanx when i wear dress clothes and it doesnt bother my band!! Hopefully when i lose all my weight i wont need them anymore!! good luck

I hated Alli it didnt work for me...why dont u talk to ur doctor about getting another fill or join Weight Watchers had have points control..i wouldnt try anything without talkin to ur doc...good luck
-
Did u try researchin other options?? I switched insurance companies just to have this covered!!! Try goin on ur own with insurance getting something that does cover it...i got personal choice and i only had to pay 1,300.00 to have this surgery done...i used to have aetna which denied it it was excluded from my policy..try a different route like financing.. i went to the barix clinic and they have options for slef pay also..good luck

ckelly37 replied to jmonash's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are so many fill centers around the U.S. try to look up one where u are!! Im sorry u are having a bad experience but u have to think positive!! Try bumpin up ur exercise...a typical day for me is Breakfast- string cheese or yogurt Snack-sf pudding or Jello sometimes some chex mix Lunch- tuna, chicken or meat with either some salad or organic pita chips Snack- sf pudding, sf jello, chex mix or sf ice cream Dinner- something Protein with some veggies and a tiny amount of carbs I dont eat more than a 1/2 cup to 1 cup of food per sitting I workout everyday for 30 -35 minutes. Maybe u need more calories to help ur metabolism..how many calories do u eat?? What do u eat throughout the day?? Please keep us posted Also try joinin Weight Watchers it might help more with the band Good luck -

ckelly37 replied to wvgal33's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
wow!! Congrats!! My doc told me to stop smokin 6 weeks prior to surgery but ive read a lot of posts on here and some people had 2 weeks others were the day before surgery(im sure ull be fine)...i had my "friend" aunt flow before surgery so that question i couldnt answer u should ask a female nurse tomorrow when u go or call....my liquid diet was 10 days before surgery if u have to do 2 days ur real lucky..it consisted of slim fast, jello, broth (chicken, veggie, beef) for 2 days ull be fine trust me...as for liver shrinkin i have no idea they told me i had to weigh what i did at my consult which meant i had to lose 4 lbs no big deal...Everyone has a last meal trust me it wont effect u..ur NUT should give u a list of foods (liquids) ull need post op if u have any questions there are forums on here for those stages..Good luck keep us in touch!! -

Taking the steps to a better life...
ckelly37 replied to therylme's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I wouldnt call them!! My brother and sister in law had to both do a 6month diet ( i didnt) and they both tried to lose like 2 -3 lbs or maintain the same weight in 6 months so it can show the insurance company that u did try and u do need the band to help u lose weight...u dont want to try to lose alot of weight durin that process or u may have a hard time being approved. Try to maintain or lose a couple pounds here and there -

I keep on reading posts where people say "Follow the Band Rules"...am i missing something?? What are the Band Rules??
-
U should try Barilla plus its the best wheat pasta ive tasted..even before i was banded thats what we ate!! Try it ull like it
-
The doctor said this isnt like gastric bypass..its a tool u have to work with it to make it work...the band isnt gonna make u lose the weight on ur own u have to eat right and exercise ur butt off to see results...u didnt gain weight overnight so dont expect to be thin overnight it takes time (mentally and physically) eat right and sweat as much as u can...good luck

Post Surgery Diet (September 29 Bander)
ckelly37 replied to alitt13991's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i would follow exactly what your doctors says!! This is a healing process and doing things 2 early can hurt the band! Call your doctor and see what they say about u moving to pureed foods i wouldnt do it before u speak to ur doctor...i have to do 3 weeks full liquid 2 weeks pureed and 1 week soft food..after i saw my doctor after 2 weeks he moved me 2 pureed food...dont do it unless ur doctor says u can...good luck -
This is normal..i was banded 9/8 and am at a stall...its called bandster hell until we get our fills and hit are sweet spot...dont be upset or discouraged u did this for a good reason and the weight wll come off in due time...good luck
