Post op Fatty liver question, no help from doctors
SabP replied to HopefullXOXOXO's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This happened to my mom a few years backs. She'd had an infection that required several rounds of antibiotics, she's Diabetic, not in the best health, but not taking insulin, or severely obese. And all of a sudden her liver enzymes were up, her scans showed it to be fatty and enlarged. She's always been a teatotaler, so the Dr. looked a bit closer. Figured out the combo of meds led to the liver problem, which many varieties can do this. Put her on a Liver detox/cleanse, sorry I can't recall what exactly but I had to take a liver cleanse before my sleave surgery. (Rather than take meds, I used 'Green' and started a month early, with my delighted Dr.s approval. I put the pics in, I got them at Amazon, great prices with subribe and save.) As for the Gallbladder, sorry to say, but sometimes they just go bad. Mine went bad suddenly, well maybe not. I ignore pain really well. So, my first symptom was puking everything even water, followed by an er visit, cuz 48 hrs without liquid while puking equals baddd. 7 days later, my GB was removed, it was "ugly". Since then I have encountered many people with similar stories. If you manage to keep it, have some pineapple with every meal, and avoid iceberg lettuce. In fact, go for the greens that are thicker, like fresh spinach, butter lettuce, baby hearts of romaine... These things are true for if you lose it as well. Sorry if I sound bossy, but I want to save you pain. Speaking of, moist heat or a heating pad on low will help with your gallbladder pain. Unfortunately, you may find even if you get to keep you GB, that some meats won't sit well anymore. And it is different for everone. I take Papaya enzymes to help out. Most use pineapple enzymes, I'm allergic. It might be enough to keep you GB, don't know. But, the cleanse and enzymes can't hurt. And seeing a Neurologist that is a diagnostician or at least is willing to be put in charge of all you meds and drs to make sure that they aren't working against each other. That's who we had for my mom, as soon as the levels came back off, our primary sent her over to the neuro we worked with as a central hub. I hope this has helped in some small way. I had it on Oct 3rd. Good luck. Also, try getting some Super greens to add to your smoothies. It helped me alot, and the doctor was pleased. I get mine at Amazon.com, but you can get it at Walmart. Sent from my SM-G975U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

Yes, it takes about a full day or 2 to get over when you've over filled to the point you're vomiting. Btw, call and speak to his nurse. Actual vomiting can be bad. Just retching a little off the top isn't a cause for concern. You should still be on anti-nausea rx, like zofran... Also, sitting still and using a heading pad or pack on stomach helps. Me too. Though I don't have to use it as much when I use the greens in my shakes. Sent from my SM-G975U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

Protein shakes besides Bariatric advantage that you like?
SabP replied to BQT's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Evolve, chocolate. Also, almond butter powder. (I'm allergic to peanuts, soy, eggs & dairy. Fake sugar upsets my stomach & gives me migraines.) Greens detox pwdr, the Dr was very pleased with me having these. It made the surgery so much easier. (I had Liver detox pills also, which he liked. I started on them about 2 months prior. I get protein water for my mom who is Diabetic. And Bai for the antioxidants, cuz I can't stand most gatorade. I also get infused water. Protein crisps for my mom and me when I am up to that level. The Maca Up is best in something like mashed potatoes. It is a little texturey in shakes. The unflavored Organic Protein, I put in soups and mashed potatoes with plenty of broth pwdr or other seasoning. It has a very light vanilla-ish taste. But is easily seasoned over. You know, I'll just put pics. Also, I get everything I can on subscribe and save at Amazon.com. Hope this helps.[emoji4] Sent from my SM-G975U1 using BariatricPal mobile app -

Anyone with PCOS not lose weight after surgery
SabP replied to Ruth9454's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have PCOS, and my thyroid affects it. Or vice-versa. Anyway, I had the surgery due to Gastroperisis, Oct 3rd. And have already lost 15lbs. I did used to have issues with losing weight, no matter how little or healthy I ate. And even gained weight. It was ridiculous. All I can say is, talk to your Gastro doctor about your concerns. And get your T3 and T4 thyroid tested. A COMPLETE thyroid panel. I am on 2 thyroid RX, to keep it under contol. The weight gain stopped after that. Heating pad. Or 'wet' heat. Like a rice pack or a gel pack. In the hospital, I was given a large gel pack to use. Whichever, the heat works wonders. Sent from my SM-G975U1 using BariatricPal mobile app
