My husband is the only person who knows, and I plan on keeping it that way. My mom is a gossip and has spilled the beans on every secret I've ever shared with her, so obviously there is no trust there! I've lost weight before, but have never kept it off, so people are used to seeing my weight go up and down. Only difference is that this time, I'm not gaining it all back! My husband is amazing, and we both like that this is our little secret!

I'm only 2 weeks out, but yes I am still very weak also. I've advanced to not needing a nap, but I still need my "rest" time! I go back to work on 1/7, so hoping all goes well with that!

Hello All! Wishing you all the Happiest New Year! 2020 is going to be the year for ALL of us! How exciting is that! I can't help but daydream about it, and think where I will be in April, August, October, etc! I'm just so excited to shed these extra layers until the tiny person that lives inside of me can finally come out! I dream of taking hikes with my family, running around with my kids in the park, and going on vacations and actually being IN the photos!! Woo Hoo!! Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!! P.S. I finally pooped! LOL!!

Poopgate continues! LOL!! I took some Miralax last night, but nothing yet. Will take some more tonight. Luckily I'm home all week, so will be able to run to the potty whenever things start moving again! Since I'm still on thick liquids, I've been on a soup kick. I usually have a sweet tooth, but between protein shakes and greek yogurt, I'm over sweets, and just want savory! French onion soup (no bread, no cheese) and tomato soup are my new best friends!

I'm still on thick liquids. The idea of a deviled egg sounds heavenly!! Can't wait to chew again! I'm 11 days post OP and haven't had a BM yet. How long did it take everyone else? I don't feel constipated, but am wondering if I should take a laxative or something so I don't get too backed up???

I was the same way! Felt great right after surgery, then fatigue and weakness kicked in and I slept for a week! LOL!! Glad that we are both on the mend!

Hello All! 10 days post op, and feeling better and better each day. Nausea and pain are minimal, and fatigue is improving. I could still go for a nap this afternoon though! When I go up the stairs, my legs feel so heavy, and I'm easily worn out. Guess I'm still somewhat weak from the surgery and lack of calories. Sent my husband to the supermarket to get some Triple Zero greek yogurt, as I need a little something new to break up the monotony of thick liquids! Looking forward to trying it! Hope everyone is having a great weekend! Been a little quiet in here, and I'm guessing many recent post-ops are still having some pain/nausea and are too fatigued to post. Hang in there, as it will get better soon!!!

I would find a new doctor. None of that makes sense!! I had to get cardiac clearance with option of sleep study or pulmony clearance, and the psych exam, all of which is pretty standard. Start taking iron supps on your own, and try someone else!! Good luck!!!

I gained 10lbs from the IV fluids!! Peed my brains out for the next 4-5 days and the weight flew back off! Good luck!!

Good Morning all! Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. I'm 8 days post op, and last night was the 1st night that I slept through the night (usually wake up needing nausea or pain meds), so I feel like I'm definitely on the road to recovery. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day were a little rough, but I just told everyone that I had a sinus infection to explain for my lack of energy and lack of eating. I haven't taken anything for pain or nausea today, and don't feel like I need to....hooray!! I took 2 naps yesterday, so fingers crossed I can get through today without napping. I lucked out with the holiday break, and don't go back to work until after New Years, so by then I should be perfectly fine. 209 this morning, so down 9lbs since surgery!! Hope everyone is doing well!!

5 days post op, and am down 6lbs so far. I'll take it! LOL!! Still on clear liquids, and sugar free Italian Water Ice, is my favorite right now. I tried to have a thick liquid yesterday (creamy soup) and afterwards I felt nauseated with a bad headache, so I'm sticking to clear for a few more days. Not much pain, but man am I fatigued! I've been averaging 2-3 naps per day, and am going to bed around 8pm! The naps do feel great though!!! Hope everyone is doing well! Keep up the great work!!

So sorry! Fingers crossed the pain pills give you some relief!

Hello All! I'm 3 days post-op, and am feeling good. Pain is pretty well controlled with Percocet, but I can definitely feel when I'm due for another pill, as the pain comes back on pretty strong. Hardest part is being around people who don't know about my WLS, b/c I have to act normal, walk normal, etc. That's when I tend to overdo it, and pay the price later! Still on clear liquids, and am only able to get in about 20-25 ounces. My urine is pretty clear though, so I know I'm not dehydrated. Need to keep pushing the clears, so that I can work my way to thick liquids soon! I've definitely noticed a change in my taste buds, as I can't stand the taste of toothpaste, and need to dilute crystal light with water, and even then it's still too sweet. I was up 10lbs after surgery, and am now only up 2 lbs, so the IV fluids are starting to flush out! Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Sounds like you went through a lot in the hospital! I'm glad it ended on a happy note now that you are at home!

Discharged from Hospital this afternoon. Feeling pretty great, so hoping it stays this way even when I'm off the heavy pain meds. Made Christmas cookies tonight, and realized that old habits die hard. A couple times got some icing on my fingers, and first reaction is to just lick it off! Of course I didn't do that, and washed my hands instead, but it made me extra mindful of my old bad habits! Off to bed now, have a great night everyone!

I've been upgraded to clear liquids!! Will be discharged later today. Ahhhh...It's just so exciting!! I feel great!!! Perhaps in January, we can move this thread to post-op and continue to support each other, share tips and tricks, recipes, etc, and of course share our weight loss stats!

Hello from the other side.... Woke up from surgery around 3pm, slept off and on until 6pm, and now I'm chilling in my room watching Survivor! LOL!! Pain level is 3-4, but don't know if it's just the IV pain meds talking. A little pain increase when getting and out of bed, but doing pretty good with standing/walking. Dry mouth is no fun, but I've been sucking on my ice chips. Can't wait for clear liquids tomorrow! Will keep checking in to see how everyone else is doing!

Today is my surgery day!!! I can't believe it's actually happening! I had a bit of a roller coaster ride yesterday, when the hospital wasn't going to put me come without pulmonary clearance. I rushed to the doctor, and got clearance at 3pm yesterday! Gotta love jumping through those last minute hoops!! LOL!! Official day of surgery weight is 218! Woo Hoo!!! I'm so excited and can't wait to join those of you who are already post-op, and of course continue to cheer on those still waiting for their surgery date to get here! XOXO!!!!
