  1. It's only been a day!! I promise it will get better!! Take small sips, and take gasX in addition to the prescribed pain meds. You will start feeling better soon! It took me about a week to be completely pain-free, and then after that it was just fatigue. Prepare for lots of naps!! Good luck!!
  2. The only person who knows is my husband, and I plan on keeping it that way. For work, I just told my boss I was having gallbladder surgery (which is a surgery I had many years ago! LOL!), and took off a week. My kids are young and didn't even notice that I was spending extra time in bed the week after surgery. My parents have noticed that I lost weight, and just think that I'm dieting - which I am! Anyone who asks, I just tell them I'm doing low carb - which is also true! Since you are having hernia surgery, you already have the perfect excuse for missing work. Sounds like your workplace is a bit toxic, so tell no one! Just use this board for support!!
  3. 1. The longer I go without seeing people, the greater my opportunity to surprise them with my new skinny self! 2. It doesn't matter that my bras don't fit, b/c I don't have to wear one! 3. By wearing jammies every day, I have no idea what size clothing I wear, so it will be a fun surprise when I finally decide to get dressed again! 4. Working from home, I don't have to worry about temptations from coworkers bringing in donuts, cookies, etc. 5. Also no restaurant temptations, since I eat every meal at home. 6. I can use all the $$ I'm saving on not getting hair and nails done to get extra glamorous when I break out of here someday. 7. Amazon delivers my favorite protein shakes. 8. I have plenty of time to try various free workout videos on YouTube. 9. Plenty of time for weighing experiments, before shower/after shower, before pee/after pee; the possibilities are endless. 10. I can drink as much water as I want, b/c I can pee every 10 minutes if I have to (which is also fun for #9).
  4. My #1 reason just got better! My work advised we may continue work at home until August!! If that's the case, they won't even recognize me by the time they all see me again!!!
  5. Where are you in NJ? If you are in South Jersey, def check out Dr. Balsama. He was my surgeon and was great, but his staff are just as great, which is really important! They know what needs to be done to get insurance approval, and will hustle to get everything approved. If you aren't in South Jersey, then I would suggest googling to find out who your local bariatric surgeons are. I would look for one who offers multiple classes per month, ideally once or twice a week. To me, this means they do a high volume, but also the more classes they offer, the more flexible it will be for you, and hopefully the quicker you can get in. My guess is there are no in-person classes right now, but hopefully they are doing via Zoom, etc. No need to go to PCP first, but if your insurance requires a referral, call your PCP office to get that before your first class. At the first class, the staff will tell you everything you need to do to get insurance approval (lab work, sleep study, EKG, etc). Good luck!!!

    Nervous About Craving

I used to binge on sweets on a daily basis prior to WLS. Now, the thought of most sweets turns my stomach. I was seriously shocked how my taste buds and cravings changed. As for vomiting, it happened a few times in the first 2 months after surgery. It was always from taking one bite too many. When it comes back up, it's not like gross vomit/stomach bile, etc, it's just chewed up food coming back up. After it came back up, I felt better actually. It taught me to listen to my body, eat slower, and stop as soon as I felt full.
  7. It took me a couple months to get my energy back, so I can definitely relate!! Enjoy those naps while you still can!! Good luck!!
  8. WOW!!! You look like a completely new person!!! Amazing job!! Thank you for inspiring me!
  9. I was just looking at my hands today! I have old lady hands! My ring size is a 4, which is what it was when I get married, even though I was 120lbs back then! I wish the rest of me was as skinny as my fingers! LOL!!
  10. Mine was a combo. 3 protein shakes plus a lean cuisine for dinner. I lost 12lbs doing this, which was a nice jump start! Also got me trying the various protein shakes so I could figure out which were my favorites!

    Taste buds changed?

I haven't completely lost my sweet tooth, but I definitely have an aversion to many different sweets. Candy bars seems gross. I did however, have a few jelly beans on Easter, and they tasted yummy. Before, I would have wanted one of the Reese's eggs instead, but not anymore. I used to eat McDonalds at least 3x a week (how else do you think I got so fat? LOL). I haven't even thought about going there, it just seems gross. Sadly, I still have cravings for pizza, potato chips, and bread.

FOOT DROP I cant balance HELP PLEASE

Neuropathy after weightloss is pretty common. Some doctor's think it's related to crossing legs while sitting (which is why it's more common in women). My sister had it pretty bad and her PCP thought it might be MS. He referred her to a neurologist, who quickly calmed her fears and diagnosed her with "slimmer's paralysis" and told her it was a temporary condition that would go away on it's own...which it did after a few months!
  15. I'm still pretty new to this (4 months post OP), but this has definitely been the best decision I've ever made with regard to weightloss. I had GERD prior to surgery (which is why I chose RNY vs Sleeve), and it's completely gone! I haven't even needed a TUMS since having the surgery! I haven't had dumping, but I also don't crave sweets anymore which seem to cause people to dump. I have had "the slimes" which is when I eat just one bite too many, and I end up hypersalivating, and sometimes throwing up. That hasn't happened in over a month though, probably b/c I'm better at listening to my body. As for loose skin, I'm sure I will have it, and I look forward to getting a tummy tuck/boob job someday!!

WOW!!! Congratulations and thank you for the inspiration!!!
  20. I always start my day with a protein shake, but since COVID19, I've been doing a 2nd shake for lunch. Then for dinner I have eggwhites with cheese or chicken salad (made with canned chicken). My diet is very boring, but it's getting the job done!!
