    When can we eat rice

I don't eat rice, but find that quinoa is a great replacement! Some people like riced cauliflower too. I haven't tried it yet!

    Success So Far

Congratulations!! As others have already said, you are doing GREAT!!!!

    Food Funeral

The past 5 years was my food funeral! LOL!! I ate so much crap over the years, always promising myself that "tomorrow" would be the day I would eat healthy. Once I started with the nutritionist, I made small changes (cutting out soda, limiting fast food to 1 meal per week, etc), and then when it came down to the pre-op diet, I was just ready to do it!
  4. Great idea on the fake FB accounts! I will have to do that too! I'm already secretive about WLS, and am looking forward to having plastic surgery after I hit goal, which of course will be another secret surgery!

Welcome to the other side! Congrats!!
  6. Hang in there!! Use the time to try to lose weight before your surgery and give yourself a nice jump start!!

    Tough love

Start tracking your food and exercise, either on MFP or even just a handwritten journal. Try youtube videos for exercise while baby naps! You can do this!!

    Quarantine

What has really helped me is the excitement of losing as much weight as possible to surprise everyone with the "new me" when the quarantine is over! I haven't seen my coworkers in over 2 months, and likely won't see them again until September. Same holds true for all of my friends, and most of my family! Can't wait to unveil the new me!!! How old are your children? Maybe you can get them to exercise with you for fun? I've been doing Youtube videos (Popsugar fitness barre is my favorite), and then when the weather is nice, we go on bike rides together. I've found that I can use my kids to keep me motivated. I'll tell them we are going on a bike ride at 4pm, and come 4pm they are bugging me for that bike ride, so I can't change my mind and be lazy instead! LOL!

  10. I lost 12lbs in 2 weeks. It was a great jump start heading into surgery!

    Osteoarthritis

I see you are in Florida! Do you have access to a pool? Swimming is great exercise, and if your shoulders can't handle "freestyle" you can always flip on your back and do "elementary backstroke." If you don't want to swim, just walking in the water is great exercise too, and takes the weight off of your joints.
  12. My first appt was 10/7/19 and I had surgery on 12/18/19. I had a somewhat unique situation in that my insurance was going to expire on 12/31/19, so my surgeon's staff was awesome about pushing everything through quickly. I also stayed on top of things as far as getting all of my mandatory clearances (EKG, PFT, Cardiology and Psych clearances) completed ASAP. Best of luck to you!!
  13. Thank you for continuing to inspire us all!
  14. I ordered a bunch of different flavors, and will report back with a taste test!
  15. You have a great attitude and I look forward to following your weightloss journey!! Good luck!!!
  16. I'm sorry, that's annoying! Giving your doc the benefit of the doubt, it could be that with all of the postponed surgeries due to COVID19, he is dealing with patients ahead of you in line so to speak. Hopefully he will get it out this week! HUGS!!
  17. My surgeon gave me a "fill in the blanks" form for my PCP to fill out and sign. It was pretty simple! I actually filled it out for her (my height, weight, etc) so she just had to sign it!
  18. Ooops! I commented on your gallery instead of here!! Thank you again for inspiring me!!!

Hello, everyone! My name is Dave.

Hello and Welcome!! 1) I've had GERD since 2004, and it has completely gone away since my surgery. I don't need so much as a tums, no heartburn, no reflux, etc. It's been amazing!! 2) SWEETS - Believe it or not, your tastebuds will change. You won't crave sweets anymore. Now it's just savory stuff that I like. A bite of pecan pie at some point won't kill you, but I bet it will taste too sweet! 3) WATER - You will eventually be able to drink that much water, HOWEVER, you will not drink it within 30 minutes of eating. That was tough for me at first, but now I'm used to it. The reason is that the liquid can lubricate the food you just ate, making it pass through the pouch too quick, so you are able to eat more. Kind of like washing down a plate of cookies with a big glass of milk. Best of luck to you, and welcome to the journey!!
  20. I just hit 29.9 BMI, which means I've crossed over from obese to overweight!!! I'm loving life, and just had to share!!

    Wow!!! What an accomplishment!!! CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!
  22. Another idea might be to wear a tank top under the tops that are becoming low cut in the chest!
  23. Just wanted to let my fellow Chaffle lovers know that the Dash Mini Waffle Maker is on sale for 9.99 on Amazon! If you haven't tried a Chaffle yet, you should!!
  24. Give them a try!! Such a great substitution for bread, and an easy way to get in some protein too!
  25. Boo! Do you have a regular waffle maker? If so, just double the recipe (1 cup cheese, 4 eggwhites) to make one large waffle. If you don't have a waffle maker, you could always try revolutions rolls too!
