How was your first time eating out with friends?
ChubRub replied to OnMyWay1956's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
None of my friends know that I've had WLS, but eating out with them has been fine. Granted, b/c of COVID, we've only gone out a few times, but I just order what I want and nobody bats an eye. They have all noticed my weight loss, so it's probably not weird for them to see me eating healthy, smaller portions. My very first time eating out after surgery was 3 months out, and it was a business dinner with my husband's boss. I felt more self conscious then, but again nobody noticed a thing. It was an Italian restaurants, so I ordered shrimp over pasta and just ate a few shrimp. As I got full, I just hid the rest of the shrimp under the pasta! They were huge portions so nobody cleaned their plate. Since your friends know about your WLS, it should be even easier to just order what you want, eat what you want, and grab a to go box to take the rest home! -
Tips for surviving the pre-op diet
ChubRub replied to GivinItMyALL's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All of us who have gone before you managed to do it, and you will be able to do it too! I used to eat fast food 2-3 times per day, wash it down with a few sodas, etc. Like others have said, the first few days suck, but your body gets used to it. Toss the phentermine, as it will only make things worse. You can DO this!! -

Where to go for support?
ChubRub replied to SAS11's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think this site is like real life. There may be a few negative posts here and there, but for the most part everyone is super supportive and always happy to answer questions, give advice guidance, etc. There are some WLS groups on FB, but I like this site better as you get to "know" the fellow posters here. Best of luck to you! -
Congrats on starting the process!! Any loose skin is easily hidden under clothes. I can wear pretty much anything, and you can't see my jiggly parts through my clothes. If you want to rock a bikini someday, then just start saving up for plastic surgery, as many on this board have done (I'm scheduled for it in a few months myself!). Best of luck to you!

The Answer to "How Much have You Lost"
ChubRub replied to amboyle728's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I always lie and say 40 or 50 b/c I don't want people to do the math and figure out how much I used to weigh!! Most people are gracious and just say "you look great" without asking personal questions, but there are always a few nosy ones! LOL!! -
Thinking of getting the surgery and looking for encouragement
ChubRub replied to Jamie R's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WLS was the best thing I ever did for myself!! My suggestion is to go have a consult with a surgeon NOW. Depending on your insurance, there may be a 3-6 month waiting period where you will have monthly visits with a dietitian. Since you have already committed to being healthier, might as well start tack that on to your waiting period. The best news I received at my initial consult was that I was allowed to lose as much weight as I could before the surgery, as insurance only goes by the first weigh in, and doesn't hold it against you if you lose weight. Again, since you are already working on being healthy, this is good news for you as well! Best of luck to you!! -
Vitamins, the good, the bad and the best
ChubRub replied to tahoegirl96118's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If your insurance will cover Nascobal (RX B12 nasal spray), then Nasobal will mail you all of your other vitamins (Multi, Iron, Calcium) for free. That's what I've been doing, and it's great! -
Starting over - suggestions and support welcome

Good luck to you!! Maybe you can do revision to sleeve or RNY??? Like previously said, no need to be embarrassed! -
Working during the pre-op diet will help keep your mind off of food! I think being home all day would be a lot harder!! Save the sick time for post-op!!

I’m not usually in favor of premature pumpkin spicing, but it’s getting crisp out and this pumpkin pie Greek yogurt is my new breakfast treat! -
@GreenTealael I love your profile pic - the outfit, the scenery, the peace! Last week's pic was awesome too (w/ the pinkish makeup), as you looked like you were channeling your inner Tegan Price!

I vote that you try it and report back here!!! :-) -
I don't know the nutritional value per portion, but going strictly on volume, I would go with 1/2 cup (and maybe a little more if it's more cauliflower than turkey and you still feel hungry after 1/2 cup). Chew slowly and listen to your body. Sounds like a very healthy meal!
-
My advice to you would be the same as above, but I would also make sure you are getting in all of your vitamins! It would also be worth it to get some lab work done to see if you can pinpoint the cause of your lack of energy. Good luck!!

I'd suggest getting back to basics. Track everything you eat (MFP or another app), and focus on filling yourself up with protein. Do some meal planning and then hit the grocery store to stock up on healthy foods. You've lost 50lbs, which is great! Just gotta get back in the "zone" again and make this happen. You can DO this!!!
