    Back to the operating table....

The band is still intact. Unfortunatley he couldn't put the band back on yet. I will have to go back in 3-4 months and then have the band put back on. He said there was too much scar tissue that needed to heal before he would put it back on. I now have the horrible shoulder and rib pain which I haven't had before. I guess the gas has to work itself out. I won't be able to take another week of from sick time (we get one week a year) and so I will take a week vacation. I am lucky because this is covered under the canadian medical plan even though the original surgery wasn't. I guess I'm just frustrated because I thought I would have one endoscopy and one surgery. I will now end up having one endoscopy and 3 surgeries. Thanks for all of your support.
  3. Hello I had my band put in on Feb 1, 2006. Almost 1 year to the day, on January 31st I am returning to the operating table. My surgeon thinks my band has slipped. He has put 7cc in since the operation and I ended up not having restriction but I would throw up if I did drink at the same time. (I Know we shouldn't be doing that). Anyway, he took all of the liquid out and we hoped it would slip back down. It didn't and so I am going back to the operating table. I am lucky that this operation is covered by my medical plan. He said that if there is to much bleeding, he will have to leave the band open and go back in in a few months to close. I lost 30lbs when I first had the band but it stopped. I have absolutely no restriction. Even when I had the 7cc in, I could eat a normal size meal. I so want this to work! Has this happened to anyone else?

    weird clicking feeling?

Hi there:help: I have a sort of weird question. Hoping someone out there knows what I mean. I was banded on Feb 1. For the last week or so I have had a weird clicking feeling around my port area. It almost feels like when you hit a nerve. I must admit I have been worried that it is a stitch coming undone. It happens about 5 times a day. Has anyone felt this?

    Lap Band Surgery-BC Canada

I'm not sure. I first contacted him about a year ago and had a consultation. There was no fee at that time. The only reason I can think of is that Medical no longer covers the consultation fee and he now has to charge for it. I had a consultation with Dr. Leung as well and there was no fee. Hope that help CB

    Lap Band Surgery-BC Canada

Hello Dr. Woodhead did my surgery back in February and I found him very helpful. He is very caring. My medical covered my first appointment with him. I didn't have to pay a fee. My fills are also covered in the one time 13,500 fee that I paid.

    Who were you banded by?

don't be embarrased! Everybody asks me that at work. A fill is when you go into your surgeon's office ( I went in about 6 weeks following the surgery) and he puts saline in the port with a needle. This will tighten the band slightly. The port is located under your skin. It makes it more difficult for the food to go down when you have a fill. I had to have two. The first one didn't do much. Sometimes you have to have many before you get to your "sweet spot". That is when it isn't too tight or too loose. No, I couldn't pay on installments. I had to pay before I had the surgery. I believe it was a week or two before the surgery.

    Who were you banded by?

I had to wait 2 months. Medical Insurance doesn't cover this operation and so the wait isn't long. If you are getting gastric bypass (in Victoria) this is covered by medical but wait is very long. Last I head about 3 years. Here is Dr. Leung's info Leung W M Dr 13798 94A Ave 200, Surrey, BC V3V1N1 (604) 581-2515

    Who were you banded by?

no, it might of been done even sooner except it was around the Christmas holiday time. I had the endoscopy the next day. I work in a hospital and so it was easy for me to run downstairs hand have it. I believe the waiting time is about 1 - 2 months with my surgeon. I'm not sure about other surgeons though in BC. Good luck with you surgery. I see you only have 3 more days to go.

    newbie question

Hi there I was just banded on February 1st. The first week was fine (not hungry at all). The second week has been horrible. I am so hungry. Is this normal? Someone told me that I won't feel the effects of the band until I have my first fill. Yikes! I have lost 18 lbs. I have also been eating (jello and pudding) and drinking more that I'm supposed to but fell like its just going right through. I see my surgeon tomorrow and I'm going to ask if I can go to pureed foods. I'm hoping that will help I would really appreciate some advice from any experienced banders out there. Thanks!
