A couple of weeks ago I took a bad fall on the ice and landed on my back and side. My ribs hurt terribly as well as my stomach area was very sore. I think I pulled on where my lap band is. I am finding now after my fall my restriction has changed. Is it possible that a fall could move my band or change the restriction? What are your thoughts?

I just wanted to share that today I hit the 50 pounds gone mark. I had my surgery 5/31/08 but had started dieting in April. I finally feel like weight is coming off and I am excited. I have settled for 4 cc'c in my 10cc band for now...seems to be working. I wanted to share because I was excited!

Banded 07/02...Waiting for my first fill... and HUNGRY!!!
redsoxmom replied to Susie Girl 75's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi there ...I was banded 5/31 and have had 2 fills. I am down 47 pounds since I started eating better in April. I too was almost more hungry after the first fill because everything was healing and feeling better. Hang in there as this is the time that feels a little slower than you would like but it really is a journey and you are on the path. Keep up the exercise and good eating habits. It will get better -
My doctor did 1 cc the first time to see how your body reacts. The second fill I had was 2 cc's. They do not want to rush into anything. I did not feel anything after my first fill...I seemed even more hungry. I definately can feel it now......

Please - what does restriction feel like?
redsoxmom replied to noahsmomm's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded on May 31st and just had my second fill last week. I am up to 4 cc in my 10cc band. The doctors office told me most people feel restricted between 4 and 6 cc. It sounds like you are feeling the restrictions. If I eat too fast or the wrong thing I feel it. I am looser at night and cannot eat as much in the early part of the day. You may want to take a break from fills, let your tummy heal and adjust and see how you do with what you have. Remember it is a tool to help you eat less. -
I had my first fill last week. I had surgery May 31st. I am finding I am more hungry after my fill. The heardest time is between breakfast and lunch. I just scheduled another fill but why am I so hungry? I was having a protein shake for breakfast everyday before my fill because I was not very hungry ... yesterday I had some chicken to see if it held me longer. I do not like being hungry!!!

I was banded on May 31st and now that the swelling and pain are gone I am finding myself HUNGRY. I had my follow up surgeon's appt last week and I meet to do my first fill and nutritionist appt next week. Feels like forever. I lost 8 pounds the first week out of surgery and then sat at the same weight for three weeks...that was very frustrating.....over the weekend though the scale started moving again so today I am down 40 pounds!!Yahooo...that helps the motivation to stay on track for sure. I am trying to keep my calories in the 1000-1200 range as recommended by my doc and some days it is hard...I just keep trying to remember this is the last time I will be at this weight....this is forever and not a quick fix.......hang in there.....

Post op appointment
redsoxmom replied to LeslieR041906's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I. too had my post op visit yesterday....down a total of 37.5 from where I started. Only 9.5 since surgery a month ago. All my wounds are healing well except for the one the surgeon looked at yesterday and said..."oh so you are the patient who got burned" I had one area that was a nasty red wound...the nurse had me take off the tape and let it air but it is not pretty. I could not believe he told me he burned me. He said the surgical staff during the operation could not figure out how it happened. nice huh? I was not inmpressed -
I was banded on May 31st...the first week I lost 8 pounds and after that I have stayed the same untilyesterday morning when I went for my follow up appt and was donw another 1.5 pounds. Total loss 37.5. My surgeon said with the band it is slow at first until you get going on your fills. I also think you have to work on what works best for your body as far as calorie intake.....be patient. I tend to weight myself everyday which is not good but a hard habit to break.

A little frustrated. I have a surgeon's follow up this week and I am not sure if I have a fill now or when I go meet again with the nurse and nutirtionist on July 9th. Glad to have company.......

Food challenges for partner/spouse
redsoxmom replied to BadgerMom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Face it the 2 week pre diet is HARD. I do not think anything would make it easier. What I did with my family and husband was I asked that he not cook some trigger foods for the kids, like pizza. Also when they ate I took a walk so I was out of the house and not "Smelling" anything. It was hard because in the end I was dreaming of hamburgers and I was HUNGRY....the only solace was that surgery was much closer and you really should not cheat so I approached this diet differently than I had others. You are thougthful to be so sensitive to her issues!!
