I had my lap band May 7, 2008, and I haven't had much change in my pain. I've only lost 24 lbs since my surgey, but if I exercise too much I will be unable to move for days. I find I hurt more all over my body after my fills - I've asked MD about this but they have no answers, and I'm very sensitive to fills, I've had more fills /unfills than I care to count - I was diagnosed with Reactive Epstein Bar Virus (Mono) 3 months after my surgery, because I complained to my main MD that I was so weak and had no energy. MD said it was probably activated by me having the Lap Band procedure - I hope you have had more luck with weight loss and pain, because I haven't.

I feel your pain, I had the band on May 7 I've only lost 22 lbs. Everytime they fill the band I get sick then they unfill. For $13,500 it hasn't been worth it. I was better off taking Wellbutrin for weight loss - in fact I lost 45 lbs in less than 5 months while I was on this medication - but it's hard to get MD to give this for weight loss.

I wish I had known that I would still have to diet to lose weight, and the foods you are suppose to stay away from go down a lot easier than the foods you are suppose to eat. I've only lost 22lbs in since May 7. Was $13,500 worth it ????

I had my surgery May 7 and I've lost 22 lbs. I've had 1 .5cc fill, but due to vomiting and severe pain I had to be unfilled. I have no restriction now, I'm so thankful I have fill appt next week.

I was having problem like this and I started drinking Mona'Vie Juice after meals (2 oz) and I haven't had any more problems with severe Gas or food stuck. I hope you feel better.

Well thanks for the concern, I actually started feeling 100 % better 3 days ago after I was given some Mona ' vie juice I drink 2 oz in am and pm, I noticed almost immediately I had NO more GAS, I was eating a box of Gas X's everyday and I haven't had one since I started drinking the juice, not to mention my energy has increased and pain has decreased. I hope it continues, because I fell like I can actually live with the Band now. Also by the way I'm a Cancer July 12, I'm not sure if it was a bad day to have my surgery which was May 7, but it sure has taken a long time to recuperate and I'm a Home Health Nurse,

I have fibromyalgia and I was banded May 7, as far as joint pain I feel better, but I'm having terrible muscular pain in my rib cage area, and back pain since the surgery, MD says I'm more aware of the band than most patients because I can feel it and I wonder if it is because I have fibromyaglia. It's been one month since surgery, and each day I wake up hoping today I will good, but I feel worse than I ever felt. I had 80 lbs to lose now down 20 lbs, but unfortunately I regret the surgery because I hurt so bad MD says there is nothing they can do other than to open me back up to see where the pain is coming from, hopefully it will get better. I haven't been able to go back to work full time because I feel too BAD.

I had my band May 7, I tried to do the pre op diet but I couldn't stand the Opti fast 800, so I decided to just cut back on the Coke until Surgery which helped me lose 4 lbs. before surgery. I did have a big "NO NO" coke 2 wks post band it didn't bother me, but I then drank a few days later lime sherbert punch with sprite well alll I can say I thought I was going to die from the pain and pressure in my chest. Other than than that I have been eating very small amounts, becauseI had to go back into MD office due to severe back pain and stomach only to find out my band is to tight so she aspirated .5 cc of saline out of band now I have a negative pressure as the MD puts it. I was also told I'm one of the very rare patients that can feel the band. Biggest problem I'm having is staying hydratred this past week I started vomiting along with dry heaving, and terrible stomach pain and burning. I was admitted to the hospital gave 8 liters of IV fluids and I had a upper GI and I was scoped to make sure everything was OK after vomiting, and all I needed was nexium and hydration. I find it hard to sip, sip water, cyrstal light, etc. when all I ever drank was COKE (probably close to a 2 liter a day) I wish now I would have had the will power to stop the COKE, and take a small bite of food and walk away. At least I'm down 20 lbs.

I had my surgery May 7 the only problem I'm having now is terrible mid bcak pain since the lap band surgery. Has anyone else experienced this before, and what can I do to help alleviate the pain besides medication?

I called Dr. Moore this morning gave my symptoms terrible gas (feels like a basketball on my chest) terrible mid back pain, along with burning stomach pain at times, I was asked to come in (Also I thinks it helps that they know I'm a nurse). After seeing MD she stated they normally don't inject the port until 5 weeks after surgery mine was May 7, but she was going to see if I had any fluid in band even thought hey don't inject any fluid in until the 5 week check up, I ended up with .5cc fluid in band and she said know I know what a to tight band feels like. She also went on the explain I may be one of the few patients who may not need a fill for months, and even then it will be very small amounts. I will say I felt almost immediate relief when aspirating the small amount of fluid..

Yes, but it seems to be getting worse, I think it has something to do with "GAS", the pain is so bad I can't stand it. I'm calling the MD tomorrow because the Gas X only helps for a little while - not strong enough. Also I'm very careful about what I'm eating, and how much.
