Does anyone feel really tired after eating?
futurefinemama replied to angryspice's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my surgery on the 23rd and I get it. I get sleepy with every meal with the exception of a protein shake. I follow my guidelines of proportions and food. But every time I eat, I feel like I have been to a buffet. The slower I eat, the less sleepy I feel but I am still tired after eating. -
I have always been hot natured, I thought the weight kept me hotter than the average person. And I live in the south and the summers are pretty brutal. But I am almost a week post op and I am cold all the time. I turned my air temperature up but I have to be mindful of other people in my household. I walk around with a cardigan on even when the temperature is in the high 80s/low 90s. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I start my vitamins tomorrow, maybe that will help.

What do you wish you had known
futurefinemama replied to Embody's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I wished I would have known about the exhaustion. I liken this experience to the first trimester of pregnancy. No energy, sleep a lot, the smell of food can make you nauseated. I have weird food cravings too... Like collard greens. I always liked collard greens but for some strange reason, I love them now. -
Hospital transportation
futurefinemama replied to BigSue's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They don't make anyone sign you out. But the hospital and my bariatric center stated, I would not be able to leave in a Lyft or Uber. -
How long does the gas last had the bypass surgery at 7:30 this morningp
futurefinemama replied to Choptop83's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Mine lasted about 3 days, walking helped me. Try lying on your left side (if possible) that helped me release some gas. -
I just want to say, I am sorry you on going through this and prayerfully things will get better for you.

3 week post op intake issue
futurefinemama replied to Dee.Lams's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My go to now is Fage, plain, non fat greek yogurt. My dietitian allows me to add hidden valley ranch to it. It might be weird but it's easy to digest and I think a 1/2 cup has 17g of protein. -
Pain Medication
futurefinemama replied to TheLdywMoxie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A week before my surgery, my surgeon's office gave me a prescription for liquid hydrocodone/tylenol. I had it filled before I got home but only used it once. -
I weigh daily, this has been a habit before surgery. It helps me, when I fall off from daily weigh ins, I tend to gain weight.

Unsupportive friends
futurefinemama replied to Sassafras1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surprisingly, my youngest sister was unsupportive. I stopped talking to her about the WLS. She didn't even know the date of my surgery. I figured, this was one decision about my life she did not agree with and I am totally okay with her opinion; because it's just that, an opinion. Now, if your friend is constantly making negative comments about your surgery, you might have to reevaluate if she is a genuine friend. No real friend wants you to fail. -
Are you cold?
futurefinemama replied to futurefinemama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Are you cold?
futurefinemama replied to futurefinemama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its not too bad, its just weird for me. I slept with a fan on, I had a fan at my desk and I hate the hot summer's in Atlanta. But now I feel like a lil old lady, can't go anywhere without my sweater. -
I take Sucralfate 4x times a day (liquid) and pantoprazole 1x a day (pill). I never dealt with acid reflux, this was a first for me. I carry that medicine in my purse, I refuse to go through that pain again. And congrats on the weight loss!

Hey congrats on your surgery, your experience seems very similar to mine. That gas pain was unimaginable, I heard people post about the gas pain but never knew it would feel that badly. And 3 days post opp, I had pretty bad acid reflux. I called my surgeon's office and they filled two prescriptions. That was a blessing. I couldn't get water down without it burning. My surgery was 6/23/20 and 13.4 lbs down.

June Sleevers Post Op
futurefinemama replied to srgrl08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey guys, I got sleeved on June 23rd. Whew its over. But honestly it wasn't too bad. Although, the gas pain was almost unbearable, it was in my chest, my back, my shoulders. Only way to relieve the gas was to walk. And boy did I walk, I looped the hospital halls like I was Flo Jo (in my mind). I only stayed one night in the hospital. I'm currently home trying to adjust to my new life. I'm on full liquids now. I have absolutely no appetite, I set my alarm when its time to eat. I am dealing with a bit of acid re flux or heart burn. Hopefully, this too shall subside. STATS: Total = I have lost 44lbs from my highest weight 8/31/2019 to current 2 week Pre op diet = 16lbs lost From surgery date to current = 8lbs. (two days) -

Help!!! Liquid diet is killing me
futurefinemama replied to Cotytoscano11's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This might be a little weird but crushed iced helped me. It didn't fill me up but it curved by hunger. -
I'm 12:30 p.m., ATL.
