Hi All, My bandiversary is coming up Aug. 8th. I originally joined this thread, but then my surgery date was moved. I still feel like part of the "July butterflies" though. I'm down 50 lbs and have about 30 more to go. I only have 3 cc's in my band and have had many fills and unfills. It's been difficult to find my "sweet spot," but I am progressing, so I'm very happy. Good luck to all of you in you second year of the band.

Hi all, I'm new here and I started South Beach 2 days ago. So far, so good. I'm hoping to curb my sugar cravings in a big way. I'm not counting carbs or calories, but I'm eating everything sugar-free and as low fat as possible. I haven't been able to get my weight to budge for almost 8 weeks, so I hope this will be the kick in the pants it needs to get going down again. Banded Aug. 2008

Pre-op liquid diet = nausea???
azbanded replied to AppleBottom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm totally nauseous too. I'm thinking it's the protein shakes. Perhaps my body is not used to taking in 52 grams of protein at once. I'm on day three of my diet. -
Hi all, I'm Michelle and I'm getting my band on the 18th. I start the Protein shake thing tomorrow and am more nervous about that than the actual surgery. I'm also a little nervous about the INJECTIONS! WHAT....I did not previously know about the blood thinner medication I would have to take post surgery. Apparently, I have to inject myself in my stomach once a day with Lovenox for 2 weeks after surgery. It's to prevent clots I guess. The doctor told me I can call the nurse if I need help. Oh yes, she'll be getting a phone call every day! Does anyone else have any experience with this?

I am getting banded July 18th. I'm very excited, but anxious too. I know a lot is going to change in my life. Looking forward to it! Good luck all.

I do not yet have a surgery date, but have had most of my tests done as well as my psych eval too. I was surprised to find that I am diabetic. Although I have been overweight most of my life, I have not had any health issues. Even while pregnant I always had healthy blood pressure and blood sugar levels. Wow! It's not likely that my insurance will pay since my BMI is 39, but has done the yo-yo thing between 35 and 39 for years. I have Cigna and they require 2 years above 35 AND at least 2 co-morbidities. I have 1, the diabetes, so my doctor is working to see if the insurance will cover a sleep study. We're still going to submit, just in case we get lucky. Otherwise, I'll be self-pay at the Weight Loss Institute of Arizona. I've chosen Dr. De Barros to do the surgery. One thing I can say for those who are self-pay is NEGOTIATE the price. I was able to take about $1400 off my total expenses through negotiation. I did my research and was able to compare the prices at other locations. WLIA is one of the most expensive places in AZ, but I like the Dr.'s and its location is convenient for me. Whew! That is a long intro thread.
