  1. As I remember, it takes about two sessions and then it's done. The last one I had done took a while to settle down and I had to have a tooth removed because the process still couldn't save the tooth. Eating a sugar free popsicle is just torture. I'm just getting it pulled. Ugh.
  2. I'm on anti biotics for a different reason -- got a bad tooth. Have to go back to the Dentist on Thursday where he will either pull it or start a root canal. If I go with a root canal, I want it done 2 weeks before surgery...
  3. Premier clear protein drinks, although my bari nutritionist said that I can drink the Premier protein drinks -- they come in a lot of flavors. I think clear broth soups and water of course...
  4. I drink those for breakfast. They come in a lot of flavors.

    Liquid diet struggles

Don't feel bad. I'm to do a 14 day liquid diet as well. It's to shrink the liver.
  6. HEY! That's my birthday! Mine is on the 17th! We are practically surgery twins! 😋
  7. So, I've been reading up on all of the things that I'm to do/eat post op, but I don't know what to do about the vitamins. Should I go gummy or liquid? I'm leaning towards liquid....
  8. When is your surgery? Edit: Should have read further. Good luck!
  9. I'm taking 3 weeks off. Just to be on the safe side. I will take more if I need it.
  10. I got a little booklet on meal plans for RNY and watching videos done by Dr. Duc C Vuong -- he's very good and gives a lot of good advice. I plan to thoroughly clean out my kitchen this weekend and dump everything I can't eat post-op.
  11. Hey! Yeah, I started one the other day... Mine is scheduled 3/17.
  12. The insurance approval went well compared to having to track my doctor down. Who knew?

    February Surgery ?

Hey, haven't been on for a while, but I got ins. approval today! I'm gunning for Feb 4 or 11; got a lot of work to do and new staffer starting in late January. Got so much to do...

    Nervous

Hi and good luck, best wishes to you! I was set on going with the sleeve, but my bariatric surgeon recommended the RNY due to my acid reflux and I've already read where folk are having revisions from the sleeve due to developing or worsening reflux issues. That was my main reason and I'm getting fine with it.
  15. Me! Hi! I hope for a January date. I have one more session to attend, have to schedule my EKG, blood work, and see my primary dr. in December, plus I have to see a specialist regarding my kidneys, but I hope to be get cleared for January.
  16. Thank you for the follow up. It clarified a lot. Did your doctor instruct you on what you were to do pre and post op? I know that I had a nutrition class section that was 3 hours and we went thru every page of what we are to eat and drink pre and post op. In speaking to the Dr.'s assistant, I told her about a lot of the complications that some people here have said they experienced and she told me that in the majority of the cases, it's due to not following the instructions given.
  17. I'm a bit confused here. From all of the information I've gotten from being in the program and reading from other patients, the behavior you are describing would typically be very damaging and perhaps life-threatening. So with all due respect, I kinda think you may be a troll. I hope you aren't and that you listen to the excellent advice that is being offered to you. Unfortunately, there are those who would go to this extreme to antagonize folk who take this process very seriously.
  18. Totally agree with all you said and the topic of others not really speaking to you after the weight loss is apparent is another discussion worth having. A friend of mine just told me that they are not going thru with the surgery because their doctor basically talked them out of it; it would be interesting to know if others had that experience. Anyway, your quote really caught me "You must do what you think you cannot do". A lot of people are fearful of the unknown and in general, we all have been misinformed about this whole weight loss thing at some time or another; the journey is real and those who navigate is always swimming upstream against the tide under an industry that tells you that you need to eat right but pushes everything against that narrative for profit and greed. That's why it's best to take control of your own health and chart a course that's best for you. If there are folks in your orbit who can be supportive of your journey, by all means, do include them. I wouldn't tell folks just because I assume that they would be supportive -- a lot of times you already know if they will be or not from your past relationships and interactions with them. Also being supportive doesn't necessarily mean that they agree with your decision and one has to decide if you want the support or you want people to agree with you. It's a lot to weigh on your mind.
  19. Wow! Your stats are similar to mine in height and weight! Thanks for posting -- very encouraging!
  20. Great! My friend just got her date for December and she started a month before I did. I'm hoping for January!
  21. I'm 61 and dealing with all of those things except sciatica. It's hard telling folk about this because of the resistance still and not understanding all of the pros and cons. Any surgery has risks, but the benefits I do believe outweigh those risks, especially at our ages. Of course you should discuss with your doctor all of the benefits as well as risk based on your own history.
  22. My List: Retiring at goal weight and at a normal weight for the first time since I was 8; Getting off the danggone blood pressure meds; I want to return to waiting a size 10 shoe; My knees and feet not hurting all of the time; No more acid reflux; Being able to shop at other places than Lane Bryant; I'm sure there will be more things going on this list.
  23. Oh good luck to you and best wishes! Just stay focus and on mission. I had to review what I was supposed to be eating because my weight stayed the same this week and discovered that I was eating way too much protein, but I'm making those adjustments. I used to do a month long juice detox fast in the fall until the acid reflux got so bad that I couldn't do it, but I'm hoping that by the time I need to do the liquid diet my body will be ready for it.
