Post op: One month of nothing but broth and protein drinks ???

I’ve been on purée for almost a week and the stomach pain & constipation is absolutely horrible. I took MOM last night & had dry heaves but nothing came up. I looked at the sample purée diet and found that although I am drinking liquids, I haven’t been drinking water. I drank 32 oz of water on top of broth today it did work and the pain almost went away. Now it’s back at 1:15 am. I thought I’d be better by now. My tummy feels as if I were kicked in the stomach several times. -

Day 1,2, or 3 post op: share your stories October sleevers🤗
LastChance57 replied to BQT's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi! I had other major surgeries in the past and I was more awake and mobile with this surgery. I had 2 other procedures along with the gastric bypass but this is what I remembered: 1. The hospital will give you pain medication intravenously and it really did help. However, I was released with Tylenol with codeine and it didn’t help at all. If you need something stronger, talk to your doctor. 2. The nurses will teach you how to roll and sit up in the hospital (and that is still tough for me). I read that you should bring a small pillow for the trip home and keep it with you at home. It helps to minimize tummy pain if you sneeze or cough. Walk as much as possible to relieve tummy gas from the surgery. Ask your doctor if you can take Gas-X to help with relief. I had pain I both shoulders and was told that it was gas. It lasted for about 3 days after the surgery. 3. Prior to the surgery, buy your broth, protein shakes, whey powder, sugar free jello, protein water, & 1 ounce plastic cups to pour your drinks into (when you drink the protein shakes, water, protein water, broth, etc). You will need to sip as much as your tiny stomach will allow - like it’s your job- from the time you wake up until the time you go to sleep at night. Drinking liquids became easier for me around day 10. 4. Prior to the surgery, buy what you will need according to your doctor’s diet schedule in case you can’t go anywhere for 2 weeks. Make sure you try everything and like it before your surgery. 5. I bought the pre-made protein shakes so I wouldn’t have to make the shakes when I got home. I also bought the 1 oz cups and some disposable popsicle zip sleeves from Amazon. I put some of my protein water in the popsicle sleeves and made popsicles out of them, which helped a lot. 6. Walk around the house & keep hydrated as much as possible to avoid blood clots & dehydration. 7. When it’s ok to shower, be sure to do it when you are not too tired because it takes a lot out of you and you will need to hydrate after you are done. Some of the steri-strips on your stitches or staples may come off in the shower within 5 to 14 days of surgery. I was told not to worry but every doctor is different. Call your doctor if you have any concerns. Take it easy on yourself and try not to be a hero. Your body needs time to heal. I know it’s a lot but this is what helped me! -
Mother’s bizarre behavior after my surgery
LastChance57 replied to mrs_brontosaurus's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Your mother has a problem - and it is not you. If she were an emotionally stable person, she wouldn’t dare treat you like that at all. She would be so proud of you, your choices, and accomplishments. Just surround yourself with positive people who do support you and keep up the great work! Continue the great work that you have done for yourself. She may never change or apologize for her lack of maternal support and classlessness. It’s a shame that your wonderful progress brings out the ugliness in her. Again, not your fault. She is an example of how not to be when your child is doing well. Keep up the great work!! -
Hi Machalo, I just told my family that I was having it and I asked them for their prayers. I really didn’t care if they disagreed. I want a healthier and better quality of life for myself and I am responsible for me. If they are in denial, so be it. Your family will see the difference in you and that may make a positive difference in them. However, people are people and it is what you think of yourself that really counts-not their opinion. When you go on and continue to reach the goals you have set for your life, regardless of the naysayers, you are going to be so proud of yourself and what you have accomplished. You will be a light to others! You are a light now! Don’t waste your time trying to please difficult non-supportive people. You have made a great choice for your life and it will get better!

I’m sorry- my above comment was in response to Mikeyy!

You are really blessed!! I don’t understand why people aren’t supportive either. It definitely is not the easy way out of obesity.

Anxiety after sleeve
LastChance57 replied to TriciaMcGrath's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Gastric Bypass (with Hernia Repair, and Gallbladder Removal) on 10/2. I still have tummy pain but besides the 2 bouts (tears) I’ve had, it’s going pretty well. On 10/15, my doctor will let me know if I can have puréed food and I’m really looking forward to it!! -

Anxiety after sleeve
LastChance57 replied to TriciaMcGrath's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had a melt down a few days ago. Now, I’m anxious again. I hope this is all that it is. -
I really lost it Wednesday after having 4 hours of sleep, going to the neighborhood pharmacy (husband drove me there and back, and taking a shower 1 week out from surgery. I couldn’t stop crying. I listened to some of my fav songs before going to bed. It helped until tonight when hubby went to Red Lobster. I’m still mad at him. I’m totally irrational. I’m full and he wanted to go out. He didn’t even tell me where he went until I looked at his all of his leftovers in the fridge. I wish I could control my emotions better. Thanks for the tips.

3 weeks post op down only 10 lbs
LastChance57 replied to Dee2938's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don’t worry, it will come off. I haven’t lost 10 lbs a week. Everyone is different but because we aren’t eating what we did for years before the surgery, it has to come off. Go back and look at pictures in the past. Now, you are healthier and getting stronger every day. It will be alright. -

I know!! My hubby is trying to be supportive by going out to eat, etc., but I am constantly mad at him. I’m hating the pain in my tummy, and the full liquid diet now and my nerves are short too. This will pass, I keep telling myself!! -

I need to learn all I can about the RNY quickly
LastChance57 replied to MinnesotaDreaming23's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi! My doctor referred me to the GB because I have GERD. I was at 210 in the beginning of the program but went up to 230 with steroids for my back a few weeks later. It depends on other health problems as well. -

Surgery: 10/2/19. Pain was not very bad until Today when hospital meds wore off. Mind/matter was worse. My stomach is hard and fat as ever. And, because of IV in hospital, the scale betrayed me too. I bought a brace to help but my belly cramped up more . My dad was visiting and I kept apologizing profusely. I don’t think he had a nice visit. What was reassuring is that this is for now @ not 4 Ever.
