  2. Sissyj.....surgery on Oct 28th. Since my surgery on Oct 28,2019 at Piedmont Newnan Hospital I have lost 37# but 70 # total of highest weight in July....Dr, Morris in Newnan was my Doctor...He and his staff are wonderful. I feel like a totally different person an look so different....Not using walker or cane anymore...PTL...God is good. I took a bath in shower in my tub this morning for first time in 4 years....I have been using a regular shower because I could not lift my leg up high enough to clear the tub..I was in the tub before I realized that I had gotten in there with no problems...felt sooooo good... I have been off BP medicine since 3 days post surgery. Have more energy and loving life again. Starting Weight 270 SW 236.6 CW 199 GW 150 49 lb to go . I am 79 years old so taking it a bit slower than some of you... Best tool ever and so glad I had this surgery done....Hope all of you are doing good...Hang in there....

    Starting the process

I had my gastric sleeve on Oct 28th,2019...so I am 3 weeks post op....Best thing I ever did for myself...Only lost a few pounds since surgery but can tell I am losing by my clothes.....since surgery ( three days after) I have come off BP medicine that I have taken for 25 years and the completely uncontrollable Bladder is no longer a problem...I have gone from a 3x to a 1x ...I was setting a new digital clock today in the kitchen and wanted to get it to my bedroom before to much times lapsed so I took off with my husbands walker and ran as fast as I could to the bedroom to plug it in...I haven't run in years.....I think I might have helped a back problem that I have had for several years now...I probably scared it to death...lol oh and dumb me should have realized that running there to plug in wasn't going to work....when I unplugged it I lost everything just like as if the power had gone off...I wasn't thinking straight....I have not used any of the medicines that were prescribed for me to take for pain, nausea, or cramps...I have had none of those....only problem that I have had was eating to much of the protein drinks or whatever at one sitting.....I should have been trying for 2 oz instead of 4 but since I learned that was what was causing so much gas,,,I just cut back....Dr. said on 2 wk post op visit that I was doing great...I know this has been easier on me than a lot of people that I read about and I am so thankful for that.. I do have a problem trying to drink the amount of water that they want me to drink...I have never been one to drink water at all...and I sometimes don't get all the protein in....but I am trying...putting one foot in front of the other and doing it one day at a time....So I would say GO FOR IT,,,as everyone will tell you , you will not regret it...God Bless...I chose the sleeve because it is less invasive to the body....I am 79 years old and never thought that I would even be approved for this surgery,,,,Feeling good and Know that God is Blessing me here...

    One week to go

My gastric sleeve is on Oct 28th also...I lost 9 lb this week on my pre op liquid diet....Hasn't been all that bad...Eat what they told me too and sometimes felt way to full...Haven't been hungry at all. The only thing that I had a problem drinking was the Premier Banana Protein shake....I had oh so much gas after that for two nights as I was crazy enough to try it again....I have no desire to drink it again... Good luck with your surgery....and new life style.

    Water intake and outflow

I am pre op. On liquid diet now and have to go to BR all the time....not drinking as much water as I should ,Just no where to put it....feel bloated all the time...I have a hyena hernia that will get fixed during sleeve surgery....Today I drank a banana protein shake as I did yesterday and both times I was so full of gas...I drag out drinking it over 30 minutes and belching like crazy.., and today Hubby said it is probably the hernia, man was I doing some hurting.Too. Had gall bladder taken out in June of this year....anyone else have this problem before surgery......I probably need to be in a pre op group asking this....sorry. Surgery is Oct 28th.
  7. I guess that I am the oldest reporting on how I feel about this surgery....I am 79, weigh about 100 lbs more than I should and am scheduled for sleeve surgery on Oct 28th. also having a hyena hernia fixed.....I started my liquid diet this past Monday and I literally can not eat all they have on the list for me to eat....Hungry , NO. Bloated yes. I was told not to drink carbonated drinks but decided today that I would have one last diet coke from Wendy's..Probably not 3 oz in the cup with the ice but I used the straw ( a NO NO ) and I have had gas all the evening....Took a gas pill and I am still belching....and to top it all off the dag diet coke didn't even taste like the last one I had...Learn from experience , right...I started this journey on July 10th of this year and already taking vitamins etc that I need to take.I have lost 20 lbs so far... So looking forward to the surgery and I know a new life style of eating, portions and forgetting that I do love sweets ( I hear they don't stay with you very long)...I take BP and Cholesterol medicine and hope I can come off both of them.... also pain meds for my back.....Hoping back pain will leave with the weight... I did not think the Drs would okay this surgery for me because of my age but they did...God Bless all of us and keep us on the right path before and after surgery. Sissy J, Atlanta, Ga.
  8. Where do you all get those little scales at the bottom of your post that tell where you start, what you have lost and what your goal is..thanks.
  9. Hello to everyone . I got okayed this week for my gastric sleeve surgery....scheduled for Oct 28, 2019......I have some wish washy feelings going on right now....I have lost 14 lbs on my own since I started talking to Dr about this surgery the first of July....Same Dr. took out my gall bladder on June 17, 2019. so I popped the question of sleeve surgery to him and it has been a journey toward this goal every since....So looking forward to it and getting my life back again...I have been bouncing around 200 lb all of my adult life. I am 79 years old and didn't even think it possible to get approved because of my age....so glad I was approved....anyhow I retired and got married and also moved from NC to Ga. all at the same time....11 years ago....that is when the weight started piling on...I had gotten up to 267 lbs and now I weigh 253 lb. Would love to hear from anyone that would like to share pre-op and post op tips.....and how to eat after the initial post op liquid diet.....thank you all and looking forward to hearing from anyone...SissyJ
  10. liquid diet starts Oct 14, surgery on Oct 28th...God willing
  11. Okay , so I start my Liquid diet and drinking more water than I ever have in my life.....any hints etc that would help me on this journey would be appreciated.
  12. We are not on this journey alone...lets all reach out to each other... will make time go by faster... MELLO1 My Dr will only do the sleeve...says it is much safer as none of the gut has to be cut....and there is no by passing the stomach....it is merely stapled and taken away leaving only about as much as a small banana and shaped like a banana.....it has less complications than by passes....good luck with the procedure you chose...Sissy J.
  13. Congratulations on your weight loss....
  14. sorry GREENTEA, guess I posted it wrong...the person that should have gotten the above message had lost 100lbs in two months..that is way to fast....My personal opinion...
