Have any of you dumped on purpose?
Serengirl replied to JRT Mom's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
@sillykitty I never said you couldn’t be successful I was speaking of my own experience only and that has nothing to do with how well anyone does. Happy new year -
Honestly it depends on your Dr . I have seen tons of folks where their Drs said a little coffee is fine. So as long as you feel okay go for it but listen to your body when it says- Nope

The biggest emotional rollercoaster with this surgery
Serengirl replied to Soon2bSleeved12/2019's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What a shitty thing to do to a person. I am so sorry you had that experience. As hard as this is I would do it over again in a second -
Have any of you dumped on purpose?
Serengirl replied to JRT Mom's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I wish a dumped from sugar- sadly I don’t. Trust me it’s a tool you want to have because it keeps you in line knowing there are ramifications. When you have none, like me, it’s like you didn’t even have surgery. I can’t eat a lot but I can eat whatever and not dump thus far. Which means I have to have major self control and if I had that I would t have needed surgery. -
Weight loss is going very slow.
Serengirl replied to jinnjuice527's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Im the same. Mine is super slow at times and then randomly got a bit faster when I added some carbs. But then I think i added too many and so I'm trying to find a happy place with it. I experiment. But I lost slowly too. Youre not alone. Hang in there and drink LOTS OF WATER. I can be "perfect on cals and protein" but if I dont get in at least 80 oz of water I notice my weightloss slows. I have noticed that more often than not when I ask people who lose weight quickly (not including men bec they lose weight faster) the one thing they ALL have in common was drinking more than 64 oz water and protein 90 or above - their cals varied widely. -
Post-Op Menstruation Issues
Serengirl replied to despacit0w0's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have heard of this happening - yes. In my case i dint even get a period for 8 weeks and then just a small one, then skipped a period and then this last one was CRAZY. I have Endometriosis but skipping a period for two months I dont think has ever happened to me before. Its definitely hormone related. You also might be iron deficient. When you are it can trigger you period to be Nonstop called Menorrhagia. Once your hormones and iron gets back to normal it will / should even out. Might take awhile but WLS definitely messes with your period for many women. -
Stalls are normal but to help break them exercise and try to get 100 oz of water a day and decrease carbs to 30 or below and that should help break your stall. And up your Protein to 90-100 gr.

2 Week Post-Op Hair Shedding
Serengirl replied to PlanetHopper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take a liquid biotin and it has really helped me. and its easier to absorb this early out. Also Zinc and folic acid and Omegas really help hair grown long and continue to grow but you have to be careful about when you are cleared to have those since your surgery wasn't long ago. The hair loss might be more body shock related vs VSG bec that does seem really early. -
At my goal weight a week away from 7 months post-op

Tired of the Holidays/Going to work/Constant food
Serengirl replied to momof3_angels's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This is my first post sleeve holiday too and it was getting overwhelming and out of hand. So I had to shut it down. It’s so hard and the bad foods are also slider foods for me so they are easy to eat. So I went back to basics. I’ll let myself have one cheat day for the holidays but other than that I have to stay back on track bec it’s a slippery slope. For me anyway -
Why don't more people get the MGB? I love mine!

My insurance didn’t cover It. That might be a reason. So it wasn’t an option for me -

Very upset after nutritionist appointment
Serengirl replied to Simples's topic in Vegetarian or Vegan Eating
I found this to be absolutely true too. OMG I WISH I could eat meat it would be so much easier to get in protein but unfortunately since I was a child I have loathed it. Cant frigging stand it no matter how it was prepared I would spit it out even as a toddler. Once in a blue moon i can stand some fish but not on a consistent basis and facts are fish sources are all so filled with mercury these days you shouldn't have much anyway. So it leaves dairy (how Vegans pull this level of protein off with such low calories, i have no idea) and shakes or powders which can spike insulin allegedly etc etc. I get it, it feels like a no win situation. -

personally i have found this impossible without shakes and even then its hard AF... And if you dont have dairy? Forget it. SO id love to know how you progressed. -

I dont think it is but would love to know how to get in 90-100G of protein in vegetarian food in around 600 calories without relying solely on Shakes. IF ANYONE has a breakdown of how they do it, I would follow it to a T because its impossible as far as I can see unless you have all greek yogurt and cottage cheese all day long... And no one should eat an all dairy diet. -
Totally I have seen people your height around 200 and their tummy is flat as a board. Yes they have muscle but each persons body is different.
-
MY brother its your height and is considered skinny (resting metabolic rate of over 4000 cals a day- I know its nuts and soooooo unfair but he was tested several times. Anyway, he can eat ANYTHING and stay the same slender weight. Which goes far to speak of how your body has a set point. Back to my point. He weights 183 to 184 on average. He is trying to build more muscle now so muscle weighs more than fat. Right now he has more of that hipster thin look and folks comment on how slender he is. By the BMI chart he is at the TOP of the weight for that height. Which is nuts if you saw him. You'd be like no frigging way should you lose weight, so everyone is different ya know? But as tall as you both are I think if you are just under 200 you'll probably look great and if you build muscle you will definitely be over 200. If my brother was 145 Id check him into the hospital- for real.

So what was your window of eating (sounds like 6 or 8?) and it seems like you stuck to 500 calories a day?
-
You are soooooo close to your goal - CONGRATS- which is why weight loss has probably stalled for you, BUT I totally get it since I also am a person who needs results to spur me forward. Its the A+ on the scaled when you drop weight that makes you want to keep going because its a feedback loop so its so hard when you are on track and dont see results. That said, you are not a sinner, you are human and its about being consistent. So if yesterday was a crappy day, today - one meal at a time- try to make it a good day. And worst case scenario- and not everyone might agree with this- I try to find "emergency treats" to have on hand in the house that aren't as bad as real treats, that I can have guilt free that won't harm my diet. I love chocolate too so i got chocorite chocolates and each packet has two "peanutbuttter cups" in it. they are Keto snacks with low sugar but still fulfill my sweet tooth so if I have to have chocolate i grab one of those and i dont feel guilty because its so low cal and low sugar. That said, if you are the type to eat four of those then thats not good BUT if it just takes a little to take the edge off I think they are worth having. I have also made my own sugar free peanut butter cups (super easy to make) with Lilys chocolates and PB fit powder and i freeze them. They are super cheap to make and each one has about 25 calories and one takes the sweet tooth away. This way stay on plan 99.9 percent of the time and if you need a small treat- have it without guilt. Holidays are hard, this is hard, very very hard but you can do this!!!

Anyone with PCOS not lose weight after surgery
Serengirl replied to Ruth9454's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
thats wonderful congrats on the 75lbs. -
it could tire you out really quickly and dont do anything too heavy but i started back with weights around week 7 or 8 and listen to your body! Even now my workouts are exhausting to me but i workout on average 6 times a week.
-
The three week stall is a real thing. Perhaps your holding onto water weight? have you not lost anything?
-
Hi Jennifer, I wonder the same thing in your experience because i workout 6 times a week and i have NO energy... What amount of carbs did you eat and calories did you have when you started working out (but while you were still trying to lose) and not on maintenance?

💩Poop (or lack there of)

I used to love celery juice... So you have had no issues drinking it post surgery? I have heard celery is bad but perhaps thats only the raw solid celery vs juice? -

Same thing with me and rice. I can only eat about 3/4 of one sushi roll and I'm and stuffed.
