I’ve always wanted??!! What are yours?
PlanetHopper replied to BayougirlMrsS's topic in Rants & Raves
I've always wanted to feel attractive. I've always wanted to be a normal weight for my height. I've always wanted relief from chronic pain syndrome. (This has not been resolved by the weight loss ) -
Thank you for sharing. I think I will try this.

At this point, it is a habit. I started walking outside every day in the morning at the beginning of the pandemic. I was motivated by the desire to reach my goal weight. I was also motivated by seeing the weight loss each week.

After Surgery Things
PlanetHopper replied to Rachael.castillo2017's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This was also me. For the first couple days, I was extremely tired and could not focus on anything for very long. I slept most of the time. After about a week, I could stay up for a while but would require a nap. I mostly watched TV and slept. -
Revision from sleeve to RNY
PlanetHopper replied to CandyMel's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Did you have success after revision? From my understanding, having the revision is not as effective as the first surgery that was done. Did you experience this? -
I agree with the previous statement that pain is subjective. I personally was in a lot of pain after the surgery despite walking around every 30 minutes and doing everything I was supposed to do. On the bright side, the pain had subsided by the 4th day.

My operation after 2 days
PlanetHopper replied to Dubai2020's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
During my first two days after VSG, I did a lot of sleeping. My surgery was in the morning. Once I woke up I spent most of my time coming out of anesthesia. I recall going in and out of sleep for a while. I walked around a lot. I wasn't able to sleep that night because they were pumping me full of liquids and I had to go to the bathroom every 30 minutes or so. I don't think that happens to everyone. I personally did experience extreme pain outside of the gas pain that everyone talks about. The pain I had was not in my chest or shoulders, it was in my abdomen. From what I have read, everyone experiences a different level of pain. The next day I went home and slept a lot for the next 3-4 days. I would get up and take short walks around my apartment and immediately sit back down. I was very tired all the time. I was off my pain prescription after the third day. Drink as much as you can, but know that you may not hit the 60 oz goal immediately after surgery. Just do your best and you will be fine. -
You are doing great! Try to remember that this is YOUR journey. I know it is very hard to refrain from comparing yourself to others, but it is important to know that everyone's journey is different. My weight loss has been very slow when compared to others, but that doesn't mean I haven't been successful. I wish you the best!

How often do you weigh?
PlanetHopper replied to JRT Mom's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was restricting myself to once a week on Monday morning. This is what I did up until now (7 months post-op). I now find myself weighing every morning. Some people say that weighing themself daily helped them learn about their bodies. I am not sure what I am expecting to learn but I am hoping to see a pattern somewhere. -
it's a really personal decision. I thought 50 lbs would be the amount I lose and I went with having the surgery. I am really glad I did. great observation! I am not sure which one my surgeon used. he never mentioned it. congratulations! I am so happy that your health is improving!

This is interesting, I was not made aware of this. Can you tell me the source of this information?

What do you wish you had known
PlanetHopper replied to Embody's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I agree with these for sure. I wish I would have purchased liquid vitamins. Yessss! I love this positive answer and I totally second it. -
This is a pretty good idea. I will try this.

I will admit that I have not gone through this but some advice I hear from My Level 10 Life (youtuber) is to start today. Don't wait for tomorrow or Monday, start today. Drink half your body weight in water, start tracking your food, start building positive, everyday habits. She offers a free habit tracker you can use if you want, just find her on Youtube. I hope this is helpful and I wish you the best!

What do you wish you had known
PlanetHopper replied to Embody's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I wish I would have known that dumping syndrome can happen even if you get the VSG. It's happened to me, multiple times. I also wish I would have been less scared of loose skin and excess hair shedding and went for Bypass. -
Did you keep surgery a secret? What did you tell people?
PlanetHopper replied to FinallyLosingIt20's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Do you see yourself as thin yet?

Do you see yourself as thin yet?
PlanetHopper replied to JRT Mom's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yes, I also have this issue. I think a lot of WLS patients go through this. As mentioned by a previous person, I like to take pictures throughout my journey and create side by side with them to prove to myself that I am in fact smaller. This is one of my best suggestions. I also recommend measuring yourself (hips, thighs, arms, waist, ect) to see the difference in measurements. Sometimes when I look at down at my thighs, it seems like they are still the same but when I look in the mirror, I can see they are smaller. I too am very disappointed that I cannot try on clothes in the store at this time. I wanted to buy a few things for my birthday since I have not bought any new clothes since surgery (most of my stuff is too big). However, most places are not accepting returns in my area, so I didn't want to be stuck with something. -
I want a second baby, but super scared of weight gain
PlanetHopper replied to jennyv83's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I want to thank you for staring this thread. I have not had a pregnancy before and I got VSG. I want to have a child at some point in the future but I am very worried about gaining weight. Reading the responses you received has helped me decrease my stress and worry about a future pregnancy. -
9 months check in - in maintenance - feeling amazing
PlanetHopper replied to New&Improved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay! Thank you, I will check this out. That is very cool. I did not have that done. I am in the United States and had my surgery in the United States. It would be really cool to compare your before and after! -
It will not affect the surgery Even if you are on your cycle on the day of surgery, they will still proceed. Just make sure you bring tampons or pads because hospitals usually have those super bulky pads.

Do you wear bra at night when "the girls" get hanging
PlanetHopper replied to over65's topic in The Gals' Room
I use to be someone that didn't wear bras despite my large breasts. I was probably somewhere around a triple D or a G. After WLS they have gotten much smaller and there is loose skin. I now want to wear bras in public. However, I do not wear them at night. It does not seem to be a problem. At this time, I do not know what bra size I wear because I have been unable to try them on at stores. -
Hey, I want to start by saying I completely understand how you feel. I also have long, 3b and 3c curly hair. It was extremely difficult to watch it fall out in excess. My excess shedding started at 2 months and has returned to normal shedding at 6 months. I did notice it. I promise you it will stop eventually. I know that in those moments it doesn't seem like it will. I can assure you that it will. The best thing you can do it take your vitamins. I also recommend doing a deep condition twice a month and a protein treatment twice a month (depending on your hair's porosity). The great thing about curly hair is that you can hide it based on what products you put in your hair and how you style it. For example, use products that are lightweight, use less product in your hair, you can use a pick to get more volume, ect. Let me know if you want more tips I love taking care of my curly hair and I have done a lot of research about it.

Whew! I am very glad you got that checked out just in case. Thank you for sharing and I am very glad that hear that you are okay. I slept propped up on the couch after my surgery because it was too hard to lay down and get up out of a bed. I wish you a speedy recovery and much success!

Oh, that is cool. Do you own one? If so, would you recommend it and which one is it?
