Hunger and working out
Dances with Carbs replied to elmatador's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Was this bypass or sleeve or something else? I don't have any advice, just curious to know for my own future. I know that when I would work out before surgery, I was always ravenously hungry on those days vs the days I didn't work out. -

Taking 95% of vitamins & supplements - nails suddenly brittle and breaking!
Dances with Carbs replied to KarenLR75's topic in The Gals' Room
That's a wonderful idea. If you haven't done powder dipped nails before I would reccomend having them redone every few weeks or taken off professionally. I love the powder dipped nails but I thought I'd be clever and follow pinterest ideas to remove the powder. I ended up just scraping and peeling them off after soaking my nails in 100 percent acetone for over an hour. My nails weren't peeling before but they definitely were after I got done. Just some friendly advice so hopefully you don't end up in same situation. -
Taking 95% of vitamins & supplements - nails suddenly brittle and breaking!

You're right it could also be too much of one vitamin or another. They do blood work at my doctor every few months the first year and then once a year for the rest of my life after that. I'm 7 weeks post op and I get what your saying about the super growth. I'm in that stage now where my hair and nails are in overdrive growth just like pregnancy. I hear hair loss affects some but usually levels out and new growth comes back about 6 months post op so hopefully the thinning is about done. In the meantime, get that bloodwork done so you know where u stand. Get you a beautiful scarf or a nice sun hat if it bothers you and don't let it ruin your vacation. You deserve some rest and relaxation!![emoji41] -

How is your hair? Hair and nails are made from same stuff. Have they done blood work to see if you are needing anything extra? -
Two weeks out. Will I be able to get up from a low bed?
Dances with Carbs replied to jason2483's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are u having laparoscopic or incision? If its laparoscopic, I think you'll be ok. If it's a concern or bother first couple of days, maybe sleep on couch or recliner. -
I am 7 weeks post op. Haven't experienced dumping yet. I have been sticking with the prescribed diet. I dont drink with my meals and I dont eat sugary foods. I'm sure there will be something in the future that causes it but i don't really think it's a common thing unless you're not eating right. I was first set for sleeve but dr talked me into bypass. He said he has to do more revisions of sleeves to bypass then any other surgery. So far so good for me. So I'm sure this will be a good decision for you as well.

I HATE I GOT THIS STUPID SURGERY!
Dances with Carbs replied to theexfatgirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
First 2 weeks were psychologically rough on me as well. I had a huge support system and i was still feeling regret and I definitely felt sorry for myself. I refused to give up though. Just focus on one day at a time. It will get better. Be kind to yourself. This is healing time. -

Is anyone else always Thirsty?
Dances with Carbs replied to PEGGO's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I dont sip. Havent since couple days post op gastric bypass. I'm thirsty too but we are basically on a keto diet after surgery. When I was on the keto diet before surgery I was always super thirsty. So I think that might be normal. Not sure on not drinking before, during, or after. I can tell when you when I didnt adhere to that rule and ate too soon after I drank, I could only fit 2 or 3 bites in because my stomach was already full. I go tomorrow to have my 6 week check up with blood draw. Have they checked your blood yet for any deficiencies? -

What's your reason for your obesity
Dances with Carbs replied to Siyaa Ela's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Momma's home cook southern food! Lol. I really dont know. I have always been big, was born 10 pounds. I dont snack. I do love carbs. I have always had bread with every meal as far back as I can remember. We were raised to finish our food and never waste it. We couldn't leave the table unless our plate was clean. As an adult, I always skipped Breakfast and ate large lunches and dinners. Combine that with loathing cardio unless I'm running for my life and voila....300 pound me! -
Let's talk about sex baby
Dances with Carbs replied to Oceana13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's all about your comfort. Find a position that is easy on the stomach. I would not be concerned about orgasms hurting you. I was probably 2 weeks post op when I had sex. Enjoy yourself!!! -
Fkn up Already - 1 week post op
Dances with Carbs replied to FknUpAlready's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can drink water normal. I have been able to since a few days post op. I dont chug it but I dont sip either. I can only eat 4 ounces of food but 4 is uncomfortable so I keep it around 3. Are you on a liquid only diet at this stage? I've noticed some are released to soft foods after a week. I had 2 weeks of liquid diet. I was definitely told no bread of any kind when I was released to soft foods. You must remember this surgery is only a tool to help you keep from overeating. It does not stop you from making bad food choices or keep you from falling into the same old habits. The hard work of discipline, following the diet, and doctor's orders has to come from you. If not, this surgery will not help you and you could cause yourself a serious medical emergency. Best of luck. -

When will I be able to work a normal schedule?
Dances with Carbs replied to Scisue's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 5 weeks post op, will be 6 weeks this coming Tues. I too have just recently gotten some energy back. I'm not at the level before surgery but I dont feel the need to sleep as soon as i get home from work. My doctor had me go back to work after 2 weeks. The first week back was difficult but it gets better everyday. -

Dances with Carbs replied to voodoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same issue after surgery. To the point where I was exhausted from not being able to hold still and go to sleep. My mind was exhausted but my legs wanted to dance. It went away at about 3 weeks. -

Happy Surgery Mikeyy. You'll do great. Congrats on your weightloss thus far. Keep us updated when you get out of hospital! -
Probably day 5 for me that I no longer felt any type of pain. I forced myself to walk a mile a every day. I'm sorry you're having a hard time drinking. Everyone's different. I'd definitely call your dr and let him know before you get too dehydrated.
