    No leak test done?

Bypass here. Had a leak test while they were operating on me. They did an air leak test on my new stomach. I would think that would be pretty standard but every doctor is different. As far as restrictions, I can drink normal. I can't chug but I can put away some serious ounces of liquid in small amount of time. Liquid does not hang around in new stomach. Food should be noticeably different for you.

Finally Eating Real (Soft) Foods Again

Congrats. Nice to be off that liquid diet and feel normal again.

    Fluids vs food

My dr office counted all the liquid (including protein drinks and soup) for a combined 64 oz a day during liquid phase.

Not having a Thanksgiving dinner today. Hubby had to work so we'll have a small one tomorrow. You're so close to getting out of the liquid phase. I know it sucks. You're almost there. Happy Thanksgiving!!

Highest weight 316. Surgery was 9/24 and I weighed 285. Im 245 now. I'm curious to follow other's progress who started over 300 pounds as well. Had to pack up all my clothes and send to good will recently. Went from size 24 to size 20. Super excited for all of you who are fixing to start your journeys.

    Dr. Doesn’t require protein?b

Never heard of this. Not willing to experiment either. I like having hair and muscle too much.

    Really Enhanced Turkeys for Thanksgiving

Not sure where you're from but we have processing plants and butchers all over the place here. Shop fresh, nothing against a good old butterball turkey but when we want fresh, we go to a meat market. Or go halfsies with a friend on a hog at the butchers.

    How long did you wait?

1 week after my 6th month visit insurance approved surgery. I was scheduled for surgery 2 weeks after that.

    Straws

I was also told no straws. I violated this from day 2 after surgery. I did notice I burp more with a straw then drinking from a cup but I also only drink water so I wasn't that concerned.
  15. Using dr gross chemical peel twice a week to try and get ahead of this. Dont know if it works for wrinkles yet but my face has cleared up, acne is gone and poors are reducing so maybe just maybe...

Three weeks tomorrow and will I ever NOT be nauseous!

I was nauseous first two weeks on liquid diet. I didn't puke but always felt like I could. At my two week check up, I reported it to the Dr who said it was common due to the protein drinks being harsh on stomach after surgery. He released me to soft food and it definitely helped. By the 4th week, I was no longer nauseous and havent been since. I'm 9 weeks post op and only have to drink 1 protein drink a day. I hope your nausea doesn't last long.

    Married with WLS

My husband is following my diet and losing weight with me. I've heard about the weightloss transformation causing divorces. I haven't given it much thought though. Trust and honesty is the key here. I have to say if someone told me how much prettier I'd be if I lost weight, I'd probably consider throat punching them.

    Switching to soft foods

Yogurt, cottage cheese, chicken, fish, shrimp, avocado, deli meat, cheese, eggs, and soups. Beef was on the list however, unless its cooked for a long time like in a stew, I cannot get it chewed to the consistency that is required. So I stay away from beef. Chicken and tuna are my go to. Just remember chew, chew, chew.
  19. I literally sucked the chocolate off a fun size twix on Halloween. Spit the rest out. Lol. That was the worst I've done so far. Felt so guilty afterwards, I haven't strayed since.
  20. Just regular size finger bandaid will work. Just enough to keep it from rubbing on the bra or pant line. I dont know if they will glue you in Mexico. They sealed all my tiny incisions with this rubbery glue that came off after a few weeks.
  21. Stretchy pants are a must. Bandaids. My bra kept rubbing against the top incision so I put a bandaid on it to keep from ripping the glue off.

Surgery Day! and beyond: Part 2

I'm so happy you're doing well. I'm not going to lie though. The thought of pit staples just made the hair stand up on my arms and I might have just died a little inside.

I feel like I have mono- 3 weeks PO

I also had no energy. I would have slept all day if I didn't need to hydrate and get protein in. I started to get my energy back at 5 weeks post op. I'm at 9 weeks post op now and I feel great. Hang in there. You're body just went through a major ordeal and it's trying to heal and adjust.

Why don't more people get the MGB? I love mine!

My insurance also wouldn't pay for it. I did look into it but the cost was about 18000. I didnt even have to pay half that for regular bypass after my insurance got a hold of it. All in all I have no complaints though. I've had no issues so far.
