    No Edit Buttons?

Oh, by the way, where's the hypocrite police? I believe I was trivializing the loss of someone's scar picture in the other thread. Isn't anyone going to call me out for being a drama queen and claiming that I'll never post again?

Kathy, you are getting so creative with my monikers. Oh, Susan, don't forget to go over to DeLarla's new thread and quote my bra size and panty color.

    No Edit Buttons?

Ok, I lied. Maybe this will be my last post. Changing the rules mid-game is unfair. When I started posting on LBT, I did so with the full knowledge that I could later delete my posts. If the rules have changed, I don't feel comfortable posting anymore.

    No Edit Buttons?

This is really sad. I hope the edit buttons are not gone for good, but if they are, this is my last post.

Ahhh!!! I love it! I had to read the quote twice to get it! Hilarious.

Thanks, Kathy I officially rescind my no-quoting policy. Quote away.

Lisa, you didn't offend me by saying that non-WLS information doesn't belong on the board, but it just doesn't make sense to say "only talk about WLS" and "everyone is entitled to free speech" in the same breath. I personally don't post on new message boards until I have looked around for a while to understand the layout of the board and the dynamics between its members. This board has thousands of members. Like I said before, even if a large thread gets deleted, another member usually picks up the pieces and starts a similar discussion. For instance, JanetC started a new scar stages thread. We're not talking about the loss of an artistic masterpiece here. It's some pictures of funky tummies. No great tragedy.

    Overdue FUN THREAD!!!

Oooh, I love this! Purple Body by Victoria bikini panties, and a 38D Wacoal bra that also stands up on it's own - after my breast reduction, I have to wear lots of padding so that my new oddly shaped nipples don't show. Hey, Kathy - we're bra buddies!

It is my understanding that cached pages only remain cached for a short time until they are replaced by newer ones. I understand that putting things online leaves me open to scrutiny. But I would like to consider people on LBT my friends, and if I were to make it clear to my friends that I wanted certain material deleted, I would expect them to drop the issue instead of trying to dredge up old news just to prove that they can.

Does anyone know what Lisa is talking about? Ok, I'm going to get shit for this, but I am pretty opposed to sneaky detective work being used to find these deleted threads. Didn't we just spend 3 pages talking about how people delete threads for personal reasons? Going in through the back door to bring back deleted threads seems like you're saying "You can run, but you can't hide." It feels very spiteful, and I wish we could get over this issue and leave deleting posters alone. Secondly, it seems that every time we have a controversial discussion someone says "what does this have to do with WLS?" In case it's not quite obvious, a lot of us on here have met in real life and are friends. The "Lounge" exists so that we can share non-WLS things about our lives. To suggest that REAL people who have REAL feelings for each other stick to only one topic is ridiculous.

    Abnormal Pap

I've had better luck with the show up at the office and wait approach. It's harder for them to turn you away when you're sitting in the waiting room staring down the receptionist. And don't believe them when they say they will call back! Call every 10 minutes! Don't let them dismiss you - you have legitimate fears right now, and you should tell them to walk in your shoes before they tell you to wait for an appointment. Leenerbups, I'm sending healing thoughts your way.

Warning - dead horse beating coming up. But, Alex, aren't you the one who said we should stop talking about a poster's personal reasons for removing posts? By saying that a poster has no reason for removing her posts, other than pure selfishness, aren't you contradicting yourself? I don't think it's fair for us to judge deleters until we've been in their shoes. And, again, the reason for deleting a thread shouldn't matter. Who's going to become the reason police and say which reasons are more legitimate than others? Maybe this is hard for some people to understand because we feel differently about being open with our lives. Personally, when I don't feel comfortable in a situation anymore, I wipe the slate clean and move on. When I realize that certain people are no longer good for me, I drop them completely. So I can understand that when someone doesn't feel good on the board anymore, she wants to wipe herself away from everyone's memory. Some people consider this cowardly, and that's ok, too. But none of us are going to change each other by labeling, calling names, or assigning what we think are reasons to someone else's actions.

Ooh, Kathy, I never thought of editing someone's quote. The quote feature is really just a fancy copy and paste. You can use the quote code at the beginning and end of ANY text, and it will show up in that blue box. Ok, let's start a new LBT moral panic - misquotation. And while I'm complaining, here's another one. I had a disagreement with a certain member in one thread, and she subsequently quoted my comments and moved them to another thread that she thought was more "appropriate." This move resulted in me not being notified of her post, as I wasn't subscribed to the new thread, and it resulted in an out of context cross-posting that made me look like an ass. And then I REALLY couldn't reply, because it would be obvious that I was just stalking this person around waiting for her reply. Your quotation editing brings up another issue - quotations taken out of context. Like when someone cuts up your quote and uses elipses. If we're going to use the quote feature, we should quote the whole post. But I'm not a fan of quoting at all. I think we should just address the poster by name, because sometimes quoting is used passive-aggressively or sarcastically to point out flaws in a post. Also, if I were to change my user name, my old name would still show up in quotes. Anyone else mad about the quoting?

Susan, thank you for the kind words. I think your thread idea is great. I have LOTS of those pictures and not so many of the nows. BTW, I love your photo-shopped breasts in the other thread.

    PB vs Throw Up

Oh, and I'm also adamantly opposed to liquid diets. When I PB, I drink hot tea until I feel that my stoma has loosened back up. Then I usually just slow way down while eating, but I don't go on a liquid diet. If I'm so tight that I can't eat real food, I just don't eat. Protein shakes are no way to live, even for a day.

    PB vs Throw Up

First of all, I am pretty sure that with the band, regular vomiting is NOT possible. Anything you regurgitate is from the pouch. If you think about your new anatomy, your body would have to work awfully hard to propel food up from your lower stomach, through the tiny stoma, and back into the pouch. If you are ill, like from a virus, it will probably come out the other end. If you are violently throwing up from a stomach bug, I would assume that the unfill patrol on LBT would be after you because all that heaving might cause a slip. Your situation was a PB, since you describe the food coming right back up after you swallowed it. I'm not sure why you think it was a "vomit," because if the food came up immediately, it wouldn't have time to go to your lower stomach and move up again. And, like I said, the physics of vomiting from your lower stomach doesn't really work. As far as getting an unfill, I am very opposed to getting unfilled. It sounds like you may have just found restriction and aren't really sure how to deal with it yet. What kind of soup were you eating? Chunky? I personally would wait it out before messing around with fills and unfills. Maybe if you tell us how long you've been filled, what else you have eaten, what usually caused you to throw up, etc., we could give better advice.

Yeah, it's me, but I cheated. That was me at my goal weight about 5 years ago. 37 pounds to go! Thanks for noticing. I think Alex and I settled our debate like gentlemen smoking cigars and sipping cognac. But I'm glad you chimed in.

Oh my, I didn't realize we kept you up so late, Alex! I won't be here at the ass crack of dawn tomorrow when you usually get on, so good night, and thanks for a great debate.

Wait, am I arguing with myself here? I just re-read the last line of your post, Alex. It seems like you're saying that however this mess turns out, I will always be able to delete my own posts, even if they are thread starters. In that case, I'm just beating a dead horse. Sorry.

    is someone deleteing large threads?

Yes, I see the difference. But if the only way I can delete a thread that I started is by deleting the replies, I don't see the big tragedy. I understand the option of asking a moderator to delete or lock a thread. But maybe I'm just too independent. The idea of asking someone for permission to delete a thread upsets me. For instance, if the only way I could delete my thread would be to ask your permission, Alex, I wouldn't feel comfortable doing that because I now know how you feel about thread deletion. I would assume that you would question my motives and give me a difficult time. My instinct could be off, but it just doesn't feel right to me to be policed like that. I think I've gotten too spoiled with LBT. I've started going to other boards, and the rules are outragous! One board requires you to earn points before you're allowed to have a signature or avatar! I like that this board is mature enough to give everyone the freedom to post as he or she pleases. Think of a thread as someone's blog. When I start a thread, you can post your reply to it, just like you can comment on my blog entry. But the thread remains something I created. On my blog, if I don't like your comment, I can delete it. I can't delete replies to a thread, but I can delete the whole thread. My motivations for wanting to do so should be irrelevant. And if your comment is so groundbreaking, start your own thread.

And here's an example of how deleting a thread can be GOOD - Our DFW group is meeting this weekend, but the restaurant closed down recently. So Janet deleted the old thread and started a new one since she couldn't edit the title. The new thread eased the confusion of having to read through tens of posts to finally realize that the location had changed.
