PB? Worse Experience of My Life!!!
StrawartS replied to StrawartS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Don't even talk to me about fickle. Yesterday, I barely had to chew. This morning, I was violently throwing up my own saliva for four hours. I had to take a cup to class with me and spit out my saliva so that I didn't have to run to the bathroom every three minutes. I've been nursing the same cup of tea for an hour now listening to it gurgle down. And I'm fucking hungry. I hate my band. -
Confused....advice from a nurse please!

I'm the daughter of an RN...does that count? As long as your steri strips are in place, I wouldn't worry about any extra bandages. If your scars are oozing, you might want to cover them just so you won't mess up your clothes, but I think most of us just left the steri strips alone, and we were fine. -
I always go through a bout of depression after surgery...I think it's pretty common. Your body is pissed at you for putting it through such trauma. And I'm convinced that depression is also a side-effect of the anesthesia...it's very unnatural to be put down like that. It lasted about two weeks for me. Don't worry, it will pass.

PB? Worse Experience of My Life!!!

Ask me when I've lost all the weight. My answer now is a resounding....eh. -
No way, that's you! Uhm...are you guys sitting in the same room and talking on LBT? Let me come over with my laptop and we can all three be cool together.

Hey, Mikey, I found a banana for you!

That's exactly my point...sometimes I'd just rather nobody know that I was part of a conversation. See how this parenting psychology is working? We're so grateful to have the edit back that we're willing to give up the delete. I know, I know. :deadhorse:

They're fabulous! You all look fantastic. Thanks, Randy! -
Nope, no delete option, just the edit.

You want to feel out how restricted you are. Personally, I had zero restriction until my 4th fill, so cold drinks didn't bother me until then. Cold tends to constrict the stoma, so if you're tight to begin with, you don't want to make yourself tighter. That's also why some of us drink hot liquids before a meal to loosen up. My motto has always been to try it out before vetoing it. Take small sips, see if you can feel the Water going down, and adjust accordingly.

Ok, the edit is back, but where is the delete? I'm not celebrating the return of the edit, because we all know it was coming back. Are we trying to overshadow the demise of post deletion by celebrating the return of the full edit? (edit) Not the deletion of entire threads, just my personal posts in a particular thread...

Kim, I was like you - I was using goo gone weeks after surgery to try to get the damn things off. 3 days of no showering? That sounds nutzo to me. I can't get into the bed with dirty feet, so I showered the same day as surgery. If you're super paranoid, wrap some saran wrap around yourself.

Susan, you are so right! Look at us groveling like children over here for the damn edit! I thought I was finished being disciplined when I moved out of my mom's house. This feels like crap. Lisa, I'm going to have to jump back into this one. Please stop attacking Paula. If you go back and reread both controversial threads, YOU are the only poster reading between the lines of other people's words and trying to be confrontational. You misread something I said to you, and I chose to ignore you in the other thread because I could see that you just wanted to fight. I know that when you passive-aggressively talk about all the other posters who have been making you feel unwelcome, you are talking about me, too. Seriously, you are over-reacting and assigning meanings to our words that we didn't intend. If you're going to pick a fight with someone, do it with me. I'm a bitch, I probably deserve it, and I probably DID secretly mean something nasty with my words. But Paula is none of those things. Please leave her alone.

I second that! I need to update the Houston potluck page. Please don't blame the rest of us for (what you think is) the mistake of a few.

I can't believe I ate the whole StrawartS. Happiness is StrawartS-shaped. Any time, any place, StrawartS. Don't say Brown, say StrawartS. The non-sticky sticky Strawarts.

Do it the sixth....please please please! I'm going home to Houston on the 11th. Sorry I missed today; I would love to see you all again! -
Ditto, Susan. Ok, not editing after 24 hours poses a big problem for ANY threads that need the first post edited regularly. Mary and I are hosting a Houston pot-luck, and I need to be able to edit the first post when people sign up for a certain dish. I don't want to have to scroll through posts saying "I won't be there," "Oh wait, yes I will," "I'll bring salad," "No, wait, I'll bring potatoes" to decipher what is going to actually happen. If we really need to be treated like children, take away the delete, but don't take away the edit. By taking away the edit, you are just making our threads messy and unreadable. OK, I'm officially jumping on the pissed bandwagon. My Houston potluck thread is going to get impossible to read if I can't edit the first post. Did I mention how messy my thread will get if I can't edit the first post?
-
So, to clarify...does this mean that: We can no longer delete our own threads, or even our own posts? We now have to ask permission from a moderator to delete posts? Is this a final decision?

Well, dogs I can do. Last summer I babysat a golden retriever, a big black fluffy thing, plus my beagle for two weeks, and every night, we all slept in the same bed together. Kids...well, haven't tried it yet, but I don't think people like when you put them on a leash or in a crate, so I might not be cut out for that. :Banane56: Paula, the offer remains open if you change your mind. Or we could sneak into Spiegel's office and camp out in his seminar room. -
Ok, the only one of the three of us who has any business being awake is MAYBE Susan, as she's in mountain time. I'm pulling an Alex and going to bed.

Oh, Kathy, this one has been nothing. I mean, we haven't even had any instances of: 1. If you don't like the content of this post, don't read it. 2. If you are tired of continuing this debate, quit bumping. 3. If you don't like what I have to say, feel free to put me on ignore. 4. I have nothing else to say to you, and you are on ignore from now on. 5. Nobody (except Susan) has accused Susan of being preachy. Now come over to my "My Religion is Better than Your Religion" thread for some real mud-slinging!

Dear Controlling Bitch #1, I was just re-reading the whole thread to see if I was as bitchy as I rememberd to be. Everything is so less dramatic when you've chilled out for a few hours. But I haven't gotten to the juicy parts yet, so give me another minute. Love, Controlling Bitch #2

Edit is back, but still no delete. Maybe you can delete because you're a mod?
-
I'm sorry, I have no reply. I still haven't stopped laughing. Susan, you should start a thread with crazy LBT quotes.
