Hi there Everyone! I am due Feb. 10th with a boy. I already have a three year old little girl, so we are very excited to have one of each. I've gained about ten pounds so far, which is definitely hard on the ol' ego after working so hard to lose all that weight, but I know it's for a good cause and the band will help me lose it afterwards! Let's all stay in touch!

28 weeks preggers with strange symptom
Bethanyblondie replied to Jenna12566's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
This could be from the baby growing and everything pushing up into your diaphragm, and it can spasm which causes the hiccup. I wouldn't worry about it! -
I am about 27 weeks pregnant and have gained about 10-12 pounds. I was hoping to not gain much more, but I still have many weeks to go, so we'll see. I'm trying not to stress about it and know that the band will aid me in losing all of it once the baby is here! Enjoy your pregnancy!

Stomach feels irritated
Bethanyblondie replied to Bethanyblondie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for your response...I did leave my surgeon a message on his cell phone today, so I'm just waiting for him to give me a call. I had just the broth from wonton Soup for lunch today and that didn't cause me any pain, so that was nice...but still feeling a little indigestion. I'll be curious what he says I should do...I guess it could be very possible I need a slight unfill. I'll let you know what happens! -
I posted this on the complications forum, but no one has made any comments on it...so I posted here as well... Over about the last three days, when I eat my stomach just feels irritated. It does not feel irritated when I'm not eating, although I feel a little bit of reflux in the back of my throat, which I never have. Is it possible I've irritated my stomach lining around the band or something? Should I go on liquids for a few days to let my stomach calm down? I will also call and leave my surgeon a message and see what he can tell me as well.

Is there a DPA? Diet Pepsi Anonymous?
Bethanyblondie replied to Melinco's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too, not long after surgery thought a Slurpee was a safe way to get that Cola flavor in, then I read the nutrition information about Slurpee's online...and they ARE carbonated. So just be careful with them! -

I am on Day 5 of Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred. It's only a 20 minute workout, but it kicks a$$! Even after only 5 days I feel stronger. I am alternating right now between Level 1 and Level 2 just to vary it up. Anyone else doing this program? Anyone who has made it through 30 Days who can report their results?

Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred
Bethanyblondie replied to Bethanyblondie's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Hey Everyone! I just finished day 10 of the 30 Day Shred, and I definitely feel stronger and it's not feeling quite as hard. But don't get me wrong...it's still definitely hard! I haven't done all ten days in a row, I've spaced out a few days off evenly throughout that time. I bought the DVD at Target for $9. Pretty good deal if you ask me! I'll keep you posted as I continue with the program! Oh, and Jillian is tough, but now "scary!" She makes you work hard for those 20 minutes...but in the end you have to realize it's only 20 minutes and anyone can do that! -
reality check after banding
Bethanyblondie replied to dragonflylover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think most of us totally understand this concept. I definitely am addicted to carbohydrates. I could eat nachos everyday! I realized I have to eat low carb to stay in control of what I eat, or I literally have no control. The band has been a tool for portion control, but it doesn't make my food choices for me (well...it helps a little). WLS is definitely NOT the easy way out! We still have to work for it! -

Hey Everyone - I need to get a fill but want to avoid the whole trying to contact Susie ordeal....I seem to have misplaced my card with Dr. Chae's cell phone number on it. Or someone mentioned calling his nurse too, to set up an appointment? Could someone e mail me those numbers possibly? I would SO appreciate it! -
Another person on this site recommended I look into Dr. Chae, who works at Sky Ridge Medical Center in Denver, Colorado (in the Lone Tree area). I went to the weight loss seminar there on August 20th to learn about their bariatric program. My name was put on the list to be called to set up a consultation. Now it's been almost a month later and I have not received a call or anything. Is that normal? Do I need to call them? I've just started my six months of dieting, so is it even worth it to go in right now? If anyone has dealt with or is dealing with Dr. Chae, I would love some feedback! Thanks!

That's amazing! We are all proud of you!

I wear kind of tight exercise pants that sort of feel like they hold some "stuff" in...but I totally understand the feeling! I take boot camp classes and I have to hold down the "girls" with my arms when we do jumping jacks...otherwise I'd get black eyes!

worried band is not working :(
Bethanyblondie replied to dione's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think they typically call this stage "bandster hell." It's when you start feeling better from surgery and the swelling has subsided and your appetite returns. I've heard some people even gain weight before their first fill. I kind of had a delayed bandster hell...didn't get my first fill until three months out from surgery, but those couple of weeks before my fill I could a lot more and was hungry pretty quickly. Now after my fill I had chocolate milk yesterday and it filled me up all day! Crazy! -
You don't have a lunch period? What kind of insane school are you attending that doesn't allow it's students a break to eat???
-
I agree...stay on liquids until your stomach calms down...have you called your surgeon? By three weeks out I was feeling great!

Splenda
Bethanyblondie replied to Loving everyday's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I try not to worry about it too much one way or the other. Usually the tests they do with artificial sweetener on lab rats is ridiculous because they feed the rats, like, their body weight in artificial sweetener in a very short period of time. No wonder they get sick! I think anything in moderation is the key! -
I have been able to take smaller pills with no problem...been a little afraid to try larger ones, especially now that I have a fill. But most medicines you can find in liquid form if needed!

Any Regrets After Lap Band?
Bethanyblondie replied to sammy3552's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Most people do not have a fill in their band until several weeks after surgery. I did not get one until over three months out from surgery. The restriction from just the band really made me eat a LOT less. Over time I started to be able to eat more, but still way less than I used to. So that's when I got my first fill...so back to eating very little. It's SO worth it! Best thing I ever did! -

I am getting my first fill at 5 p.m. today. A little nervous, but not too much. I'll let you know how it goes! -
so what good is the band if....
Bethanyblondie replied to Paige59's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I never thought I'd have control of my appetite...my band has changed my life and I no longer look at portion sizes worried it won't be enough. Now I look at them and think, Good grief...who could eat all that? -

Okay, Tiffany, you were SO right. Dr. Chae called me personally about an hour after I called Pam and now I am getting my first fill on Thursday at 5! Where are you located in the Springs? That is where I grew up! I lived right off of Union and Academy. My mom still lives in the Springs but she now lives off of Centennial.
