    Feeling like a Fraud

Take a deep breath and calm down sweetie!! You will be fine. Remember and tell yourself why and for what reasons you had this done. You will "in time" have a more normal relationship with food. Everything in time! Enjoy what foods you are eating right now and live in the moment. Dont think ahead. Thats what i do ad it does nothing for me! I havent been banded yet but i will be soon and i know what im up against. It will be hard and i know im sure i will feel the same way...but listen...keep your chin up and think of how you will look in 3 months. And you WILL be able to eat more. Its hard right now. Try to find a support group! VERY IMORTANT!!! VERY! You need support! are you married? Kids? friends? Reach out and talk about it .....I promise you will be ok though its just tough right now.:w00t: My prayers and wishes are with you!! Keep up the good work! You are doing great. Make sure you sip on water so you stay hydrated!! Keep in touch!! Im in the pigging out stage. lol

    Okay here I go....

Yeah thats about the same time frame as me. Just remember when you see the surgon...dont be afraid to ask all the questions on your list. Thats what he is there for. ask ask ask!! it will help. ive been asking like crazy. the more we know and the more we are prepaired the better. less stress. believe me im terrified. but i know it will be fine. next monday is when i see the nutritionist so i can loose any weight before then. my bmi is right at 40. so im sitting here eating doughnuts and a frap right now lol ...weird. but then after i see her they will put me on the liquid im sure. well ive been reading and asking alot too so if you have any questions as me and i might know.

    Okay here I go....

awww you are soo cute! Exactly what im going through right now!! only you are a couple steps ahead of me. I go to see the nutritionist next monday. so i have a few things to do and then get approved by insurance  I cant wait though!! We will be totally fine! Dont stress at all! Just go exactly by what the dr tells you and dont eat solids too soon. By reading alot of what others have done and the mistakes they have made will help us to not make those same mistakes. We will learn what we can and cant eat. It will be a journey but well worth it!!!!! Hang in there...it will be fine. I will say a prayer for ya.
  6. hmm...funny...with ours we have to pay $65 out of pocket. so i found out that i see the nutritionist, have all my tests done, see the surgeon THEN they submitt to the insurance. Wait for insurance approval then make appointment for surgey. What a process. lol oh well it will be worth it im hoping.
  7. hmmm that is weird ....ive been hearing that they submitt to insurance to be approved before they schedule surgery. Im in california...im having my band put on in santa barbara. hmm ok. every doc is probably different. Thank you for the imput.
  8. where do they submit to insurance? Im making my appointment to see the nutritionist today. Do they take all your info and then submitt to the insurance? Just wondering?
  9. Just said a prayer for ya. Good luck! Im not banded yet but i cant wait. My thoughts and prayers are with you. let me know how it goes!!! Im excited to talk to as many people as possible. You will do wonderful!! :tongue:Melisa
  10. Im soo excite for you moe...good luck and i will be thinking about you! Keep us posted. Hey did you ever ask how long the band can stay in? Is it for life or is it just until we loose all of our weight? Thats one of my questions. Just thot id ask to see if any of you know. Thank You!
  11. :biggrin:Wow moe...im excited for you....please let us know how it goes. You are the same age as me. Id be interested in keeping in touch with you. Looks like you have about the same amount of weight to loose as well. Keep me posted. Melisa
  12. :biggrin:That is very encouraging debe...thank you... im in the beginning stages of waiting to see the nutritionist and then wating for insurance. But yeah im a bit terrified as well. I keep thinking maybe i should be looking into the DS instead. Kinda scares me thinking of this object in my body. But it also scares me to think of my plumbing being messed with too. lol who knows. I go to my siminar this coming wednesday on the band. Id kinda like to go to a seminar on the DS as well just to see what the differences are and success rates? If anyone knows this please share?? Thank You!:tt2:

    Really freakin out right now!

:biggrin:Id love to keep in touch with you frazzledmom....i will most likely be banded within a couple months. Waiting on insurance stuff. Thanks for your support!! I guess the thing that makes me kinda nervouse is ....i know you can exercise but you would think it would cause slippage of the band or damage to something in there??? Id be afraid to jar it around very much??

    United Healthcare Denial?

wow...that is wonderful...i hope its the same for me!!! what did you have to do to get the 5 year history? just go to your pcp dr and gyno? I know i have five years documented by my dr!!

    Really freakin out right now!

what complications could come later?? Im waiting on approval for being banded but im trying to read as much as i can before i officially make the decision.

    United Healthcare Denial?

:biggrin:ok guys....this is the story lol Speaking of UHC...ive called them several times to have them tell me whats in my policy. They cannot find anything that says im reqired to do a six month diet. The only requirement that it states is that i have to get a letter of pre determination. Do any of you guys know if they can tell you to do the 6 month diet if its not stated? My bmi is 40+ but no co morbids. And yes ive been over weight for more than 5 years for sure! Im dying to know if they are gonna make me do this diet??? do any of you guys know if they can make you do this if its not stated in the policy?:smile2:
  17. :frown: I will most likely be banded within a couple months and from what ive read three is less than 1% chance of death with this surgery! We all get the jitters about it but its the safest!!
  18. Hello everyone...my Name is Melisa and im hopefully soon getting Lapband surgery:thumbup:. Ive been to my pcp and he gave me the thumbs up. I was so relieved that he thot the surgery was safe and the right decision. I am currently waiting for a packet from cottage hospital in Santa Barbara. I will then fill out everything and send it back. Then its the waiting game for the insurance. I have united healthcare ppo so hopefully no problems there. Im 5'3" and 235lbs so my bmi is over 40. I have no co morbiditys so hopefully thats not an issue. Anyways im very excited...cant wait. If anyone has any suggestions on insurance, or the surgery itself please talk...id love to hear. :biggrin2: Melisa

My first time on here :)

:biggrin:Thank you sooo much for replying to me!! Every time i hear stuff like that in encourages me and makes me feel better. Yeah i dont really think i will have much of an issure but im still a little concerned at being right at 40+ and no co morbids. Do you have any other health issues? Being 100lbs overweight alone should be enough ive heard.?

My first time on here :)

Wow so you are on the same lines as me . Very nice to have someone to talk to! Yeah im pretty terrified of insurance! I already called and they cover 90% but getting approved is another thing. So we shall see! I should receive my packet from the hospital today, fill it out, and i call my insurance to ask them some specific questions. Then i send the packet back and go from there. I go to my seminar next wed eve at cottage. Im just hoping they do insurance stuff before they require me to loose the 5% before surgery. If i loose 5% of my body fat it would put me under 40 bmi and i wouldnt qualify for sure! But im sure the probably do insurance stuff before anything. Wish me luck and i will keep u posted  Melisa
