Good question...im glad you are switching to UHC....ive heard horror stories about kaiser. You should be able to just get your history and submitt it to UHC. Im sure this happens all the time.
  2. Hey restlessmonkey....are there good lapband books out there to read or magazines we can read?? Id love to be reading all about it and sucess stories too while im waiting for my surgery.

Thank you so much! Today is my appointment with the dietition and i cant wait!! Ive been trying to maintain or even gain a little weight before this appointment because my bmi is right at 40. However i just got diagnosed with gerd. (gastro esopphigal reflux disease) so i think that works as a co morbidity. I will keep my fingers crossed. Isnt that sad. lol anyways im sure everthing will be fine..i just get all nervouse that something will go wrong where i cant have it for some stupid reason. But i dont think that will happen. I also need to make my psy appointment today. I hope they can get me in soon. Then all i will have i think is bloodwork, ekg and maybe an ultrasound of my gallbladder? we shall see. good luck w everything!!

Hi Melissa my name is Melisa too only its spelled Melisa. Im in the process of seeing the nutritionist and taking care of appointments at this time. Im hoping to have my surgery within a month. Im keeping my fingers crossed that insurance doesnt hold me up at all!! Good luck with your journey as well.
  8. That is AWESOME poohprecious!!!! Glad to hear that! And Amarie677 how did yours go? and how are you doing? Im just very curious because im hopefully having mine within a month!!!!
  9. Just wanted to see how your surgeries went? I hope everything went well and you are doing great...please let us know.
  10. I would just review your dr records for the past 5 years or go speak your concerns to your pcp so he can take a look at the history. Between your pcp and your gyno you should be able to find out your bmi throughtout thos years. If you have an co morbidities like diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea and such those will look good in the pre determination letter from your doctor to your insurance. Dont give up and work hard and you will suceed!!! good luck!

Im hoping to get banded within a month or so but we will see how long all the testing and insurance takes?
  14. The nutritionist is connected with the office. They gave me a number of a psy i could see that does alot of visits for them but i can choose whoever i want. And as far as all of the testing...im not sure yet. I will find out this monday if i go through them or my pcp for it? Im hoping its through my pcp because the surgeon is an hour away but we shall see. Yeah its weird how when you talk to different people all over things are done differently. Take care and good luck!
  15. :thumbup:Well good luck with everything...im glad you are finally getting there!! I hope everything goes smooth for me...we will see.
  16. I cant IMAGINE it taking 6 months!!!! I think i would have found another psy if they said three weeks to wait. lol i get very impatient though....i cant wait for everything to be DONE. as soon as they give me the green light to have this stuff dont it will be done asap and back to back! Ive only been researching since july 15 and feel like everything is going smooth and pretty fast so far. im goint to call in about 30 min to make my psy appointment but if they cant get me in within this next week i will move on to another one. Thanks for the heads up on the test uugg.
  17. oh wow you were just banded. Congrats...i cant wait. How is everything going?
  18. Lanakila~ Hey i was wondering if you know of anything you can take to help with the gas after surgery? Im just trying to be prepaired as i have heard alot of horror stories with the gas situation?? Besides walking is there anything we can take?

Yes you will def loose weight with the band. The band is a tool to help restrict you. As long as you go by the dr orders strictly and have your fills when needed you will loose weight. Remember the band doesnt do it for us...we still need to make good food choices and listen to our bodies when we are "starting to feel full" good luck. and think positive thoughts always.
  20. MeMommy~I have my appointment with the nurtitionist on Monday. I have attended the seminar and a meeting on nutrition. (both required). I had an upper GI that will count for the surgery. Other than that i still have to have the other tests done and meet with the surgeon. Then i guess they submitt to the insurance. Today im gonna make my psy appointment and get that out of the way. I have a feeling once this the nutrition meeting is taken care of the ball will roll fast..im hoping anyway. Just hope i dont run into any obsticles with unsurance.:smile2: I have good insurance though that covers 90% and its ppo so. Yeah from what ive heard the surgeon goes over everything about the surgery. He will at that time answer any of your questions and tell you all the risks involved so you are aware of everything. He will talk to you about the importance of diet before and after surgery and what could happen if you dont follow it. Every surgeon is different though in their requirements. Good luck...

Hi Sue~Im hoping to have the surgery asap. Monday i see the nutritionist, then have all the necessary testing done, see the surgeon and submit to insurance for approval. Hopefully everything goes well. I just had an upper GI and they discovered i have acid reflux (gird)? dont know if that is a co morbidity or not. anyways my bmi is between 40-41. I think i will be ok for insurance purposes and then if they find anything more like sleep apnea or anything else...that will help. Im keeping my fingers crossed!!

lol...i know...just remember...one day at a time...we can all do this. Yeah if you are able to eat alot of food at once you might want a fill. IT will help. Remember that when we are restricted like this we need to make every bite count with foods that are good for us. Its ok to have a burger once in a while but we are trying to change our lifestyle. This band is only a tool. We need to use it to our advantage to get the weight off for good!!!
  24. Wow....you are blessed!!! That is awesome!!! I cant wait either! im taking care of all the appointments right now. Good luck....you will do great!!
