Melisa1 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi guys...Im 3 weeks post op and we are supposed to go camping on the beach tonight. I was wondering if it would do any harm to have a couple mild drinks, besides the extra calories.? Im not much of a drinker at all but once in a while i enjoy a glass of wine or something. Any advice is welcome. :Dancing_sorry: -

I have the same insurance as you it sounds like and i was approved in about 10 days. My bmi was 40 with no real co-morbidities. However i had gerd, arthritis in my right hip, and lower back pain. I had my dr type a letter for my insurance to go along with the surgeons letter saying that i was a good candidate for the surgery. I believe this helped alot. Good luck and DONT GIVE UP!! i was banded october 23rd and ive already lost 20 lbs!!

If anyone thinks im making a mistake PLEASE SPEAK UP!!
Melisa1 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi...i just got word from the insurance that my surgery was approved. I was excited and shocked at the same time. I honestly didnt think they would approve me and so i was prepaired for the worst! When i got the news i didnt know whether to scream with excitement or cry.? :/ I am 5'3.5 and now 220 lbs. I have battled my weight all my life and i would love a tool to help me take it off and keep it off. I know im not extremely overweight but im sick of being a size 18 and would love to go pull a 12 off the shelf. I dont have any co-morbidities but i do have gerd, pre arthritis, and lower back pain constantly. My only concern with this is that im going to regret the decision im making. Even though this is a reversable procedure, its still pretty perminant and a big decision. Pleas help ease my mind or give any imput or concerns. Id love to hear them all from anyone out there.:tongue2: -

Melisa1 replied to ladybug14's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Help me make the right decision
Melisa1 replied to changingmyways's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
yes....my best friend had the gastric bypass and she is now going to have the lapband. Its totally up to you ...if i only had 30 lbs to loose and i had already lost 25 i might think about trying to do it on my own. HOWEVER i know how hard it is to keep it off and the nice thing about the band is you can have it adjusted anytime so that you have restriction. With the bypass you cant do that!! Good luck with your decision,...i get banded on the 23rd :wink2: -
Yeah id like to know the differences too if anyone knows. Im having the lapband 1 week from today..YIKES..mine is 14cc??

Hello from Las Vegas!
Melisa1 replied to Purplesloane's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have my pre op on the 22nd and my surgery is on the 23rd  I too am very excited yet nervous. I cant wait though. I cant wait to be loosing and feeling wonderful about myself!!!! -
Right before and right after you have to be on liquids. My dr requires his patients to loose 5% of their weight before surgery to shrink the size of the liver to make it easier to see when they go in to place the band. After surgery it is impportant to be on liquids for two weeks to allow the stomach to get used to the band and heal. If you go right into eating solids or even mushies it could cause the band to slip or cause nausea and vomiting. The band is a "tool" to help restrict the "amound" of food you eat. You will be full faster and stay full longer if you go by the eating guidelines your dr gives you. Good luck and keep asking away!!!
