  1. Glower

    Under 25 and choosing this?!

I'm a bit late here, but I got sleeved 8 days before my 19th birthday. Do I struggle? Yeah. But it's still the best decision I've made in my life. I'm able to move easier. I can sleep better. I can SHOP. Its completely changed my life already. Why should I keep living in pain and getting worse and worse just because I'm young? I was dieting since I was 12. I had tried lots of stuff. I was ready. F them.
  2. So, older people, please don't get upset with me. We have a forum for women. We have one for men. Hell, theres one for single people to meet. Can there please be one for people who got WLS as young adults/teens? There are almost no resources for us. I got sleeved shortly before my 19th birthday. I want to talk to other people who have gone through college with WLS, and how they navigated the party scene, and the dining hall, and being away from their doctor! I know it seems weird but I want to tell people about how I figured out how to hack my campus Starbucks menu so I could still have stuff there. Getting WLS as a young adult or teen is a very different experience than getting sleeved as a working adult, as most people do. It's isolating. It's lonely. Help me make a community. Help me make it easier.
  3. There are a lot of days where nothing is appetizing, or I'll take a few bites of something and it'll make me feel nauseous. Since I still don't get hungry (less than 3 months out, so my hunger hasn't come back really), it can be really hard to make myself eat. Because of this, I struggle with my protein intake A LOT. Shakes make the back of my throat burn (I've tried most of the premade brands that are approved by my program, as well as made my own with different powders). I can't get enough of a bar down for it to be effective. The protein waters feel chalky in my mouth and feel so gross (a lot of food is about texture for me). I've got the Liquicel protein nectar, and it helps, but it's SO disgusting. I'm basically living off cheese, eggs, and deli meat, with a bit of chicken sometimes. How can I get more protein into my diet? PLEASE HELP. I see some of you getting 100g a day. I only need to get 60.
  4. I'm a bit over 2 months out, and moved to college a few weeks ago. This means I have a lot easier access to unhealthy foods, including some of the foods I used to binge on (pizza, hero subs, cake and ice cream, burgers, etc). I'm not doing too bad with eating protein and resisting, but it's starting to wear on me. I want a burger! With a big fluffy bun! and i want cheese pizza! warm and gooey. I want barbeque chips and breakfast sandwiches! How do I handle these cravings? I feel like if I go and have some I might eat all of it. I'm scared if i eat any of this it'll make me sick and I'll dump. HELP
