    Alcohol (Wine) Post Op???

    I am about 6 weeks post op and have enjoyed wine a couple of times since the surgery with no problems at all. =)
  3. Hi Everyone, I just wanted to see in anyone else was feeling the way I do today. I had what seems to be a normal banding experience on 6/11. My doc discovered I had a hiatal (sp?) hernia during the procedure so he fixed that. It was really uncomfortable for several days but by the 4-5th day out I was much improved. I was back at work at a desk job by the 6th day and by the 8th day out I was in the gym doing 30 mins on the treadmill. I had a good amount of energy and have been consuming probably 400-600 cals a day and maybe even 800 yesterday. All has been fine but I woke up today and feel like I have been sucked dry of all the energy in my body. IN addition to feeling weak, my body aches and my back is sore. Has anyone else experienced this? Thank god its Saturday and I can be one with the couch. :redface:

    Concerned about Hernia

    I also had a h. hernia found when I was banded last Wednesday. I had no idea it was there. Anyway, I am on day 7 and feel completely fine. No pain, gas, or really any sign other than my scars that I had surgery a week ago.

    return to work?????

    I was banded last Wednesday and am back to work today. The recovery was tough for a good 3 days afterwards with tremendous gas, pain, etc. But starting Saturday I started feeling more "normal" and yesterday I was working out in the garden. I still have the gas but walking around helps alot (gas x hasnt done a thing for me). I must say though I work at a desk so I imagine much more fatigue if I was on my feet. All in all though, it was a success. :biggrin:

    Liquid diet

    It is amazing how fast the pounds fly off when you do these diets though. That is what really keeps me going. I also plan to enjoy my biggest vice 2 days before the surgery, beer. I am going to a concert and it is the last hurrah. I just hope they cant tell during the surgery. I know its quite naughty.

    Liquid diet

    I hear you on this being a challenge. I even seem to have a more liberal diet that you: Protein shake Breakfast Protein Shake lunch 6OZ Lean Protein with Green Veggies for dinner Thats it, No Snacks, no fun. I am so hungry all the time so I try everything to occupy my mind. I know this will pay off in the end and I just have to keep reminding myself of that. But man, June 11 seems so far away. ugh.
  8. HI Greythope, Yes, I would love the info on the Methodist group!! When are you getting banded and where?
  9. Hello Everyone, I am also from Texas, Houston to be exact. I am 37 and live in the Heights area of town. I am a corporate meeting planner at a hotel in the Galleria area. I have a fantastic husband of 8 years and we have 2 kids, both bassett hounds. I have stuggled with my weight all my life and have done every diet out there. I have researched the surgery for 2 years but finally made up my mind 2 weeks ago to get banded. My surgery date is June 11 and I cannot wait. My doc is Dr. Hollis at True Results. I am really interested if there are any Houston support groups???? I would love to be a part of one. I know its going to be a long battle but I try to take it all day by day. Good luck to everyone.

    Today is the DAY!

    YEAH!!! COGRATULATIONS!!! BEST OF LUCK!!! :sad::thumbup::frown: Its going to be great!!!!
  11. Kat, your post is so very inspiring to me. I can completely relate to the questioning and self examination. I am trying to be realistic in my expectations and look at the big picture in terms of the lifestyle change that must occur. One day at a time is my mantra. And your metaphor is right on the money. I also have my surgery next month on the 11th and I am nervous, excited, frightened and so very hopeful all at the same time. You are right. Nothing worth achieving is easy. I just pray I can keep this mentality internalized during the rough times.

    June 11!

    That is also my big day!! Talk about Wham Bam, I finally (ive been thinking about doing the surgery for 2 years) attended a seminar last Saturday (5/17), made my diagnostic appt on Monday (5/19) And, since I am self pay, was able to schedule my date for June 11. I left the docs office and started my pre-op diet then. In this week I have already lost 7lbs. I am so excited and hopeful. I know its going to be a long, challenging journey but for the first time in a long time I feel alive!!:crying:
