5 days post op hunger pains or what?

beautifullysleeved2019.....As GreenTealael said it could be a number of things, HYDRATE, but most importantly FOLLOW YOUR SURGEON ORDERS. For me Stage 1: Sugar Free Liquids only, no protein. Are you still using your I/S device? I had pain in my upper back/shoulder but when I use my I/S device that subsides. When I have pain around my incisions I take my liquid pain medicine I was prescribed.Walking also helps. I know everybody is different, just sharing!
  2. Congrats to all October Peeps! I just want to share this with my fellow sleevers: the VOLUMETRIC INCENTIVE SPIROMETER (I/S) is one of my best friends since surgery. After surgery, It felt like an aching pain at first that I later describe to the nurse as an uncomfortable feeling in my chest , back, and or shoulder. At first the nurse gave me a hot water bag that I was able to lay on and another nurse even massaged my shoulder. I got up to walk but nothing was working until the Tech came in and asked me to start using my I/S device every hour.... let -me-tell-you after the first few inhales and painful coughs( I was like thank you Jesus) i started feeling better. I sorta-of went off on a couple of nurses😉 because I didn't understand why I was given the hot water bag and massages if all i needed was my I/S device, now i was questioning their experience.(nurses Lani and Juan will probably never forget me😁) I am 6 days post sleeve surgery, and as of today I still use my I/S device daily, not every hour. The cough is still uncomfortable but the relief i feel in my upper shoulder makes it all worth it.❤️
  3. I am in Texas, and the place where I had my surgery they have a Baritastic app, which helps you and keep track of everything you do starting from the pre-op stage. The surgeon and nutritionist will also be able to log on and see how well the patient is doing...... Because Stage 1: Sugar-Free Liquids, i was told when calculating my liquid intake until my first follow up, I should calculate my water, broth, my sugar free popsicle as 2oz, and even my sugar free jello in oz =liquids. I know every surgeon has different rules, but maybe you are getting your 64oz with everything else.
  4. Congratulations Brendizzal! I had my sleeve on the 10/22/19 also. Move, sip, move, sip and repeat. I also was prescribe liquid pain medicine to take as needed, if that didn't.
  5. Congratulations! I have been amazed as well reading how quickly some begin soft foods. I have my sleeve on the 22nd,and I will also be following the stages that my Dr has given me to the T. My Doc might be a minority on stage 1 issue as well😉
  6. Hi Machalo, I am in Texas, during my initial Nutrition Consult, we were told if we were worried about hair shedding to take Biotin 5000mcg. I asked when should we begin and she stated today and that was two months ago. which I did, however I stopped the day I got my surgery date, a 1 1/2 weeks ago. True story: I have always had thin fingernails, to the point that I could tear them if one was chipped. It has been a little over 2 months since i started taking Biotin and today my nail chipped and i had to file it down, because my nail was so hard.
  7. My husband was the only one I told until today. I asked him not to share it with anyone, it's my journey and it should be my choice to share. He can be chatty with his siblings at times he comes from a big family. I told my sister today and I wish I had waited until after Oct 22nd. She had a lot to say, but i know that her opinions were from the heart, I just didn't want to hear them.
  8. Lady VS, I am right behind you, I'm 10/22.
  9. vinantmama...I hope all goes well!
  10. Mark1107 I'm glad to see you are doing well!. I am schedule for the Sleeve on Oct. 22nd, very happy and excited right now. I KNOW EVERYBODY IS DIFFERENT, But from everything I have read it seems like you are rushing the PROCESS. Just curious, is Kaiser your Bariatric Doctor/Surgeon or your Insurance Co.?
  11. Finally, I can officially join the October Peeps! I am scheduled for Tuesday Oct 22 , I am having the sleeve, as well as hernia repair. I begin my one week pre- surgery diet on Oct. 15. The surgery is considered outpatient according to BCBS/Illinois because I will only be staying overnight for observation, God willing. As of now I am so happy and super excited. I think closer to my surgery date the nervousness, and probably fear will kick in.

    Playing the Waiting game :-/

UGH! I received another call from Sage Bariatric on 9/26/19. My pre-authorization has been approved, but still waiting on the approval for the predetermination. So I google BCBS pre-authorization and predetermination, because I was really confused. Pre-authorization or pre-notification, pre-certification confirms that a physicians’ plan of treatment meets medical necessity criteria under the applicable health benefit plan. A predetermination is a voluntary, written request by a provider to determine if a proposed treatment or service is covered under a patient’s health benefit plan. Predetermination approvals and denials are usually based on our medical policies. It has been two week and this waiting is really kicking my butt. But on the upside. I have gotten some much needed cleaning done trying to stay busy when i get off of work. I am so thankful i found this sight, I just really needed to think-out-loud.
