Appetite Suppressant for Pre-Surgery Patients
grommie posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just wondering if anyone has taken an appetite suppressant during their clear liquid faze before surgery? If so, what kind? I have to do a clear liquid faze for one week. No protein shakes are allowed. -
Thank you. I am doing great l only have a little gas up in my shoulders. The surgeon gave me a pain ball so I did not have any pain from the stomach surgery. It comes out tomorrow. I hope everyone is doing good.

I am currently at 280 and my goal weight is 150. He has all of his patients do this before surgery. No exceptions. -

Thanks everyone for your response. I did not even consider the consequences of appetite suppressants. I don’t have any special issues. He has all of his patients do this diet one week before surgery. He is a very good doctor but your right this is a little “crazy “. My sister said I should practice 😂! During the week of October 2nd, I will have to remind myself why I am doing this when I get hungry. -

Nothing that has more than 2 grams of protein per serving. You can only drink things that have 10 calories or less per serving. My dietician said if you feel dizzy that you can have a little orange juice, -

You can have crystal light, broth but no more than 2 grams of protein per serving, sugar free popsicles, nothing more than 10 calories per serving. -
They called today and my surgery is scheduled for October 9th. I am so excited!

And all of the Protein ice cream. I am diabetic and most of them are filled with sugar. They advertise as 20 grams of protein and only 350 calories in the entire pint! They don’t tell you that the entire pint has 80 carbohydrates.

Cardiologist Requirement for Surgery

Thank you so much for everyone’s response. I feel much better about this. I have an appointment with a cardiologist on September 27th. It should not delay my surgery. -
Cardiologist Requirement for Surgery
grommie posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found out yesterday that I need approval from a cardiologist to have the surgery. I got a referral from my MD. Do I just need a stress test? Do you have to go in as a new patient? I don’t have any heart issues and I am not sure why he wants it. They submitted everything to the insurance company so I would like to have this done before the insurance approval comes back. Hoping to get the surgery in October. Let me know what your experience was like with this situation. Thanks. -

Your right. It would be good to know that everything is ok after years of obesity. I am glad everything turned out good for you. Thanks for your response. Looking forward to losing some of the Double D girls. They are a food magnet and are the cause of a lot of ruined shirts. 😁 -

Thank you. -
I am still pre op and I have lost 23 pounds but I am still in the same size. They are looser but not enough to go down to the next size. What is everyone’s experience with moving to the next size and the amount of weight they have lost?

Since your cholesterol is elevated is your doctor having you take medication? Just curious because that is one of my goals is to get off most of my medication.

I agree with everyone that replied. I found a book titled “Bariatric Mindset Success” by Kristan Lloyd and it really digs into the emotional part of this journey. She is very relatable because she has had the surgery. I originally bought the book as audible and listen to it at work, but since I like it so much, I bought the paperback. Check it out you won’t be disappointed.

Hi Everyone,
I am so glad I found this site. I go for my last dietician appointment on Tuesday, September 4th. Then they will submit it to insurance. I am turning 60 on September 30th and I have battled my weight all my life. I want to eliminate or have better control of my health issues. I have diabetes, sleep apnea, acid reflux, high cholesterol, etc.
I can’t wait until I can schedule my surgery. I am hoping to have it in October.
