Blix started following Chewing Gum not a good idea I found out, Gall Bladder problems and Lap band, Lap band vs sleeve and surgery in Mexcio and and 7 others
-
One of the guys I work with had Lap band Surgery in early August. He had to have his Gall Bladder out last week and told me it was because of rapid weight loss and he said he was told quite a few of Lap Band Patients have to have their gall bladder removed because of weight loss. I was wondering if anyone else had been told this by their physician? That was the first I had heard of it.

Things I won't/don't miss about being Obese
Blix replied to MissWilde's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Having to sit down and struggle tying my shoes. Getting winded everytime I have to walk quickly. Having trouble finding clothes that will fit. I guess the list could go on and on. I weighed 330 when I started this adventure and now I'm at 245. I have gone down in waist size from 54 to 42 and can pretty much jog if I want. I still have a ways to go but I am encouraged everyday with any progress I make. For those of you new to this life style change there is hope for you. Stick with the program, don't fudge or slack and you will make it. Choose each day to win at weight loss and take it a day at a time. Just remember others have made it and so can you. -
I was told to eat mushies, SF pudding, Slimfast, and any other liquid for two days. I guees it is all up to the doctor.

I had my first fill 07/07/08 at 1:15pm and had a salad for lunch before I went. You shouldn't have any problem if you eat before you go. It doesn't take them that long to do it.

My nurse told me 2 days on liquid i.e. Slimfast, creamy Soup etc. She never told me it was optional. I just go by what they say. I guess it could be either way. Anyway my two days will be up this afternoon so I will be trying something different for dinner tonight but nothing heavy. I think a lot of this is trial and error, so to speak. There are people at work who are eating and drinking things I was told to avoid at all costs. They tell me their doc said in moderation but I am trying to stick with my doc's program.

I noticed you were banded 05/15/2008. I was banded 05/16/2008. I am really pleased so far. My doctor is super as is his Nurse, Nutritionist and Exercise Physiologist. They have really helped me before and after surgery.:wink2:

Lap band vs gastric sleeve and surgery in mexcio
Blix replied to greatwhite's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know nothing about the sleeve so I can't really say what it is like. My ex-wife had a GB in 1990 and had quite a few problems. She gained some of her weight back but she is still not as big as she was. I am excited about the progress I have made with my Lap Band. I have a super DR. and his Staff is great. :wink2: -
I'll have to wait and see how much I can eat. My doctor's Nurse Practicioner did my fill and hit it on the first try there was minor pain. I got 2CC's and she told me if I could still eat a lot she wanted me to call. I guess I will find out thursday how this will work. October 18 2008 330lbs May 16 2008 284lbs Day of LB Surgery July 07 2008 258lbs 1st fill :wink2:

Lap band vs sleeve and surgery in Mexcio

I think you made the wise choice. I would have never submitted to a GB. My ex-wife had one and she had problems from the get go. I just had my Lap Band May 16 and I have lost 26 lbs. I lost 50 from October to May by my doctor changing some of my meds. I no longer take meds for typeII diabetes, acid reflux med or vytorin. I am very pleased.:biggrin2: -

Get the lap band and stick close to home if at all possible for the support your home town doctor can give you. -
Lap band vs gastric sleeve and surgery in mexcio
Blix replied to greatwhite's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would definately get the band. My ex had a gastric by pass in the early 1990's and had nothing but trouble afterwards. I would think hard about getting your surgery done in the U.S. by a doctor near you for the support aspect. I know of two people who went to Mexico one is doing great but the other has had many problems. Our insurance started to pay for the procedure this year and quite a few people who work with me have gone to Dallas. We have an excellent surgeon here in town who does lap bands so he did mine. I think the doc in Dallas forgives the deductible on the insurance and that's why people drive to Dallas. I wish you the best what ever you decide to do. Aut Viam Inveniam Aut Faciam -
I had my first fill yesterday(07/07). I'm back on liquids for a couple of days. I was supposed to have my first fill on June 6 but I had to wait until the 7th of July. I noticed the two weeks before the fill I could eat just about as much as I wanted to. I didn't do that but I didn't get full as fast. I have not been hungry but I have a real deire to chew on something like a steak or veggies but I will stay with the program and not eat solid food for two days. What can I expect after the two day liquid diet when I start eating again?

I've been fortunate and haven't PB'ed One of the girls I work with has PBed quite a few times according to her. I still eat a little to fast and get that 'golf ball' feeling in my throat.

I haven't done either BUT I have eaten way to fast on several occasions and felt like I had a golf ball in my throat. I am trying to learn to slow down. I am a police officer and I worked graveyards for 25 years. We only had 40 minutes to eat and I learned to eat fast now I have to unlearn that behavior.
