  1. I understand how you feel. I still crave the sweets (which as always been my downfall). I still feel 250lbs until I look in the mirror. However, the last time I ate too many sweets, it felt as if a bolt of lightening hit my heart and pain radiated through my arms to my neck & jaw. The dr said it was indigestion. Whatever the hell it was, I haven’t eaten the same amount of sweet foods again. But it’s a daily decision not to feel like crap on the verge of death! It’s the only thing that has stopped me.

    Absolutely hate myself now

Just hold on - It really is normal to feel what you’re feeling. Once you see the weight continue to drop off, you will fell different. The recuperation from surgery is no joke. Since you have fasted for so long and (depending what your doctor instructed you are probably eating purée food), you have released all of the toxins from pre surgery. This is really a chemical change and you’ll feel not so good but it’s just for now-not for always. You will make it ! You will feel differently when you eat real food. One day at a time, one hour at a time, one minute at time. You will make it and you’ll tell others that there is a light at the end of this journey. It will be alright.
  8. I was having the some problem only to find out I was hypoglycemic. My doctor put me on medication and I have been feeling so much better. I had a gastric bypass 2 years ago.

    Developed Diabetes After Surgery

I’ve had bouts of hypoglycemia - coma like - and I’m going to schedule an appointment to see a doctor tomorrow. It’s pretty scary.
  11. Before I had my rny (10/19) I had the worst acid reflux! I haven’t had it since the rny. I believe you will get great results from it!

    100 pounds!!!!

Wow!! That is so wonderful and you look great!! Congratulations!!
  14. It was around the same time I had a melt down. Your body is healing and it’s an adjustment. It is normal. I yelled at my husband for going to Red Lobster to eat without me. I couldn’t go. When he came home I yelled at him and then woke him up at 3:00 am and yelled at him again. I don’t usually yell at him- especially when we have agreed on something. What helped: It’s great to talk to someone and just vent. It is what helped me more than anything but I was pretty angry around that time. All I can say that it’s normal and it will get a lot better! Your body is adjusting to the new normal - especially if you had to fast before and after the surgery. It will pass!!
  15. **I started at 235 being 5 feet tall.
  16. My GB was 10/2/19. If you include the fasting prior to surgery, I’ve lost 90 lbs. My DH says the fasting doesn’t count but I told him it did count. I had to lose the pre-op weight to qualify for the surgery, per my insurance co! I’ll take any victory! It was hard to fast!
  17. Bariatric Pal Grapefruit (mix with water - 15 grams of protein) drink!
  18. Thanks again for your post. I’m at the last leg of the GBS process and my doctor’s hospital is now owned and operated by the Mayo Clinic. I, too, have Aetna. I left a message with the surgery coordinator to call me and to see it Aetna accepts everything l. If not, I’m def following the advise from the relpy’s you received, above. Wow!
  19. OMG- I have Aetna too. They sent paperwork to my Bariatric Drs. Office and everything. This red head will really be pissed if they pull that s**t on me. They are the Worst and I can’t stand Aetna already. Thanks for your post!

    Help!

Don’t be so hard on yourself. You are doing great and everyone is different. Every day is a fresh new day and a chance to try again! If you have a dietitian, give them a call and they may be able to provide guidance. If not call your doctor’s office. Just remember no one is perfect and a lot of people feel the way you do and need direction. It’s new for everyone. We weren’t born knowing how to work this program. It’s a learning experience for everyone who has had the surgery. It’s going to be ok!

    Losing Hope

Hello: I really hope everything comes together for you. It is a very frustrating process. I’m at the last stage of the process of the “home” sleep study and follow up appointment. I have called my Bariatric doctor’s office for 2 days and still didn’t receive a call back. They, too, just had a change within their staff. I just hope that everything the “temporary person” (who managed everything for 6 months) gave me the correct information and did not lose everything too. Good luck and blessings to you.
