Okay - I was banded on June 24th. Everything went smashingly well in my healing - except that I gained back 3 of the 10 pounds I'd lost. SO I called up the doctor and they scheduled me for an early fill. I went in and they withdrew the air and put in 4 cc into my AP 10 band. I was gagging, so they took one ccout - I was able to swallow water easily and I left. (Super nice nurse - did the fill without ultrasound or anything - got in the port on the first try.) Well - I was on the liquids for two days, then mushies for a day (they said three but to try and see how solids went). Well guess what - I can eat anything again. I have another fill scheduled for one month, but they said to come back in two weeks if I gain ore weight. I'm really frustrated because I am alwasy hungry, I've been working out like never before, and I have been drinking bottles of water everyday. I am trying to kepp everything healthy, but I have had a cookie or two. UGHHH.... I hate this. I know my doctor said they put in the band then they "turn it on". What if this doesn't work? I eat - I burp really long and....I'm hungry again. :confused2: Total - I've lost 7 pounds in the last 4 weeks. Is anyone else having issues like this. I keep thinking, "Oh my goodness, it's not working, I'm going to be fat forever."

Well - I found out I was allergic to sucrulose when I talked with my mother. No doctor diagnosis, but basically I was having terrible gas pains, flatulence, and I was swollen and miserable. Then I got the runs. I completely took myself off everything with Splenda in it, and everythig resolved. Had a Propel water a few days later, guess what - I was walking around tooting... Alos, my 4 year daughter (who though it was fantastic that her mother had bought her puddings and jello...) started complaining her stomach was hurting, then she startes tooting, and guess what - more runs. My mother has the same issues. Check it out on google - this is pretty common.

What DON'T they tell you?

Oh yes - the hotdog feeling. I forgot I had a band and took a bite of my daughter's grilled cheese sandwhich while driving and talking on the phone. (Old habits die hard.) I had to hand up, pull over, and then spend the next five minutes sliming into the fastfood bag. The band definitelty reminds you to eat slow and chew your food. -
Sounds like me. I was banded on June 24th and have my first fill this Monday. However - I am an extremely fast healer and this is my 3rd abdominal surgery. I can eat anything right now - bread, too. I am trying to diet and am avoiding sugary foods and cola, etc. But let me tell you, I have a craving for chicken and skim milk. I initially lost 10 pounds, but that seems to be due to the issues I had with sucrulose. No that I know I'm allergic and the pain anbloating was due to "splenda", I have no issues. SO - long story short. You sound totally normal. My doctor reminded me that the band isn't "turned on" until the fills start.

I am scheduled for a band with Monte Swartz on June 24. My insurance approved it and I am SO EXCITED. I have about 120 pounds to loose. Is there anyone in the Sauhaurita/Corona de Tucson area, even east side Tucson? I'd love to get together and hear your stories.

My doctor recommended that the first weeks post-op that I have only sugar-free Jello, pudding, liquids, etc. SO I went out and bought evrything sugar-free, much to my 4 year old daughters delight! I was banded on the 24th and came home without a problem. However, five days out and I was experiencing intense intestinal pains and gas, and then I had diahrea started... Well guess who else has been walking around farting and complaining about stomach pains. Yep - my daughter. So I called my mom (she knows everything - don't all moms?) and she told me she can't eat anything with Splenda in it either. Now what? What are some diet options? I'm not supposed to eat solids for two more weeks. (I did have some crackers, though...)

My husband just unexpectedly got a new job in a new state last week. He agreed to hold back the start date, since our current insurance is covering the surgery, but the new one wont. The day after he is driving cross country. It sounds horrible, but my husband is super great and I am excited to be moving and I will have the chance to be a stay-at-home mom again, but....I AM FREAKING OUT that I will be essentially a single parent in the middle of no where for a YEAR!!!! I can't join up with him for a YEAR except for Christmas and our annivarsay due to my job contract. UGHGHHG!!! We currently live 7 miles from the nearest gas station and 15 from the closest fast food. That's good. And I am freaking out about the surgery. I'm depressed about the move. I have to sell our house, ship everythgin from furniture to horses, find a new daycare and a new job...all while trying to make this lapband work. My 10 day pre op diet starts tomorrow - I have surgery on the 25. My family is against the move and the band. My friends are envious of the band or at least they really tried to talk me out of it. And I feel like I have no support, even though I have will power and motivation. I haven't talked with my doctor and don't plan to. My pyciatrist appointment happened weeks ago when everything was "normal" in my life. I have even had my EKG and pre-surgery clearance. I guess I'm looking for support, friendship, and advise

Oh my gosh - I am banded! I was in-patient at St. Jowith Dr. Swatz and every thing went smashingly well. I did spike a fever oaf 102.5 the same night, so I was given IV antibiotics. I walked my heart out at the hospital, but when I got home, I felt like garbage and did nothing but sleep. Now I feel - great - though I am sleeping in the recliner. My pre diet failed miserably and my stress level went from "yeah - summer vacation" to "I have to move to North Carolina". My husband was just sent to Fort Bragg, so I have sell my house, ship out my dogs and horses, and pack everything up. I'm thinking I'll be a "single mom" for about 9 months so that I can keep my teaching job and get my fills, etc. My liquid diet is going okay. The nutritionist said the liquid didn't have to be clear, so I tried having a Protein shake (not good - caused me a lot of pain), Propel, Vitamin Water, and sugar free pudding. Tonight (three days out) I had about a 1/4 cup potatoe Soup. Wow - felt like the real stuff even though it's just Imagine Organics. I weighed myslef today, and I am down about 5 pounds! But - I'm thinking that it's water weight because....I also started my period in the hospital. I weighed in at 277. I am so excited to be on the loosing end now. I've been struggling with high blood pressure, asthma, joint pain, and sinus abcesses for a very long time. I really like my doctor. I did a ventral hernia repair on me several years ago (that was pure hell) and I thought he did a good job.
