Hi guys. In 10 days I start my two week pre-op diet. I can only have protein shakes during this time. I’m a bit lost as to which one to buy. My doc says any brand will do so which ones do you recommend?

I paid in full for my surgery. The transaction is complete and I got my receipt and everything. I’m getting my surgery on September 19th. This. Is. Happening.

By the way, thank you for posting about your struggles. It really helps others to see the reality of surgery and not just the “perfect” before and after pics. You got this!

You are probably going through what they call head hunger. You are still loaded with bad eating habits that hopefully will go away as you continue on your journey. Remember, your stomach was operated, but your brain doesn’t change. It’s up to you to make that change. Try to listen to your body and not your brain. Hopefully over time you’ll get a better hang of it. Just because you messed up once doesn’t mean you have to continue on that path. Move on and stick to your program. Also try and get your protein in. This will help to keep you fuller. Soups are going to go right through you so try something with more protein. And try the antacids. If it helps that’s great. You have nothing to loose. (Except weight lol)

Can I say that I love this thread. I can’t wait to post my cute outfits after I loose the weight.

Jennj, did you see the post Alex wrote about how the patch stating that they are not %100 effective? How long have you been using them? Are your numbers good? They seem very convenient so I do hope they are working for you. Just thought I’d mention it.

Wanting to eat everything before surgery. Help!
Dee2938 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m loosing it, and not in the good way. I have a little less than a month before my surgery and exactly two weeks before my liquid diet and right now I just want to eat everything in sight. I feel hungrier than ever and I keep thinking if I don’t enjoy it now I won’t be able to for a very long time. I’m worried I’m going to gain even more weight and weight gained is weight that needs to be lost. I want to get down to 130 and as most patients loose about 70% of their excess weight I won’t end up anywhere near my goal weight if I keep this up. How can I get out of this mentality? How do I keep it together. I have two more weeks before liquid diet and I cannot keep eating like this. -
At my orientation the nurse said that after surgery I’ll need to have a vitamin B12 injection once a month for the rest of my life. However, there was a post op patient in the room who said the doc told her she could do daily b12 pills every day and not need a monthly shot. Do any of you do the B12 injections? Or do you take a pill? Do you notice any difference?

That is awesome. I can’t wait until I’m one year post op and thin, but I’d I loose 40 something pounds in the first two months I’ll be thrilled. -
You’ll do great. Congratulations on making a change for the better.

Anyone else feel like it's taking forever
Dee2938 replied to Cherylmilla's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I totally feel for you. I’m paying out of pocket so my journey has been super fast by comparison. I thought I would have to wait months and months, but as it turns out. I was able to schedule my operation on the day of my first consultation, which was last Wednesday. Ive been wanting to do this for years so I knew I was ready mentally. But I was so happy I was able to do it so quickly. I’m now scheduled for the 19th of September. It has seriously only been a week and I simply cannot wait. I’m so fortunate, but the date cannot get hyperextended fast enough. I feel like my life cannot start until after the operation so it just feels like an eternity of waiting. I truly empathize with those who have been waiting months or even years to get their insurance to comply. It is very difficult to feel like you have to wait to start your new life. All I can say is, it will come. But man, don’t I wish i could just fast forward to one year post op where most of the weight is gone. Sigh. It really is a journey. -
SCARED OUT OF MIND!!!
Dee2938 replied to brandimichellexo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m having my surgery on the 19th. I’m not scared, but when I had my c section for my son, I was terrified. I had my daughter vaginally and rather quickly. So when they told me I had to have a c section for my son, I was not expecting it and I freaked out. I cried like a baby. I was so scared, I was shaking. Well, guess what? It was so amazingly fast, so easy and so much less painful that when I gave birth to my daughter the old fashioned way. It was so wonderful that I was actually super embarrassed that I had made such a scene. In fact, if I ever were to give birth again (which I won’t as my tubes are tied), I would demand a c section. It was just so much better. I was up and about the very next day. With my daughter I literally was bed ridden for an entire week. Long story short, it’s ok to be scared. Especially if you’ve never had any surgery before. But you’ll probably think back and laugh at yourself for being so nervous afterwards. You have totally got this. You will be so happy in the end. Just keep your eye on that. -
September 2019 🍂🍁
Dee2938 replied to Repeatingthoughts's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m scheduled for September 19th. Right now I wish I could fast forward time. I’m super excited although I do admit I panicked a bit when we set the date. I actually felt a bit guilty and I also had feelings of shame. How did I get to this point? How did it come to this? Etc. However, after speaking with my amazing mother in law, who was beyond supportive, I started feeling much better. She told me I should be super proud of myself for taking my health into my own hands and doing what it takes to get healthy. She changed my entire point of view. Now I’m actually feeling proud of my choice and I can’t wait for the future. I know I will be super happy when I’ve lost the weight and I’ll never look back. From now on, September will be a month to celebrate! -
Hi! I’m a Floridian too and not only that, but I’m getting my surgery done with Dr. Shillingford too. I’m pre-op and will be having my surgery on September 19th. I can’t wait. I see your stats and it looks as if you’re doing amazingly. I’m also 5’4” and my goal weight is 130. My current weight is 235.
