between meals hunger
dblack replied to MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! You are doing very well. I lost 23 pounds in the pre-op diet and then have lost only 5 more pounds after surgery and I am now 4 weeks out. I had my first fill last Friday which was 4ccs. I still have lost no more weight and really feel the same hunger as when I had no restriction. I'm hoping this will change because 3 meals at 4 oz a meal just doesn't get it for me! I've been snacking on applesauce and then yogurt or fat free milk. I drink lots of Water and excercise so I'm hoping I'll start losing soon or at my next fill. Don't worry about the hunger if you haven't had a fill-that is very normal. I was only able to lose weight due to shear will power! Good Luck -
HELP! NEWBIE! Just banded- Should I have restriction?
dblack replied to AmberRenee84's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I was banded on July 29th and really, except for the first few days, did not feel any restriction at all for the first 4 weeks. I told my doctor and he said that is normal because the band has no ccs in it yet. Now I have my first fill-4ccs- but I still don't feel much restriction. I'm hungry about 1.5 to 2 hours after I eat. Now, I do try to stick to the 4 oz and 3 meals the doctor told me to do, but I do have snacks. I excersise every day and am losing NO weight. It is frustrating but you will get to the right restriction where you don't feel hungry alot and really won't be able to eat alot. Just concentrate on getting healed right now. Drink/eat your protein as much as possible. Good luck! -
Who's getting banded in June
dblack replied to To be free's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm waiting on a surgery date-hopefully late June. Can't wait to start losing the weight but am a little anxious since it is life altering. I just keep looking at my photo on my fridge of me now, and that keeps me motivated!! -

how long does the surgery take
dblack replied to donna.furr's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Anyone doing the pre-diet right now? How is it going? Were you kind of scared to get started although it is a long haul to get to surgery?? -
I am in South Alabama and hopefully am being banded in June. My doctor is Chris Dyas and today I'm going to the seminar that is required before being banded. I've done all my tests, just waiting for my insurance approval. Does anyone have any experience with Dr. Dyas or Mobile Infirmary Hospital?

Hi, is there any one in South Alabama who has recently been or is going to be banded by Dr. Chris Dyas? I am interested in your experiences so far. Thanks! dblack:smile2:

Who's getting banded in June
dblack replied to To be free's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I am an attorney in South Alabama and am a Federal Gov't employee-our BCBS insurance is one of the best at covering gastric surgery. We have no waiting periods, and really don't have to show that much information except that you have a 40 BMI OR 35+ BMI with one or more co-morbidities (high blood pressure, type II diabetes, high cholesterol, high triglycerides (sp?), spleep apnea and back problems) I just do meet the 40 BMI, but do also qualify with the 35+. I'm hoping the approval will come quickly. I've been thin all of my life, except the last 10 years (after the birthday of my 2nd child). Just haven't been able to take off the 72 pounds I gained! Yep, that's right, 72 pounds. Unbelievable I know. Anyway, am going to my class today at noon, and then it is just waiting for approval. My doc has said that I only have to do the pre-op liquid diet for 7 days instead of 2 weeks. That's good, but I wouldn't really mind doing it for 2 weeks so I would be more used to it. My doc is Chris Dyas. Anyone else out there using him OR have used him? Would love to know your experiences with him as your surgeon.:biggrin2:
