    Weight loss stats!

Wow!!! That IS amazing! You have to be so proud of yourself. What surgery did you get? I am getting RNY. I cannot wait to experience every single thing you listed. Thank you for the lift. Of those 100, how much did you lose in the first 2 months?

    October

Hi twin for 10/1! You are so much more prepared than me:). My job has just been crazy lately and can barely get sleep in it seems. Can you share what your prep looks like so it could save me some time?
  3. That sounds good! Definitely let us know how it turns out.
  4. Yes-surgery twin! I am almost 2 weeks into my 4 week pre-op and I made it this far . The first week was rough as I just felt yucky and a dull roar of a headache for about 7 days. Assume it was a combo of carb withdrawal, caffeine, and sodium reduction. It did go away and I feel a ton better now besides still battling hunger ( I am sure it is all in my head though). I go to my 2 week to start full liquids on Tuesday this week (eek!). Feel like I am almost in the home stretch and have lost about 8 lbs so far on the pre-op. Let’s stay in touch on our journey! Are you getting RNY or VSG?
  5. I have had these same concerns, I am 3 weeks out and the closer it gets the more nervous I get about it. Curious @catwoman7 - what is the procedure to fix a stricture?
  6. Headache finally went away yesterday - so 7 days before it lifted. After reading some of the info provided on carb withdrawal I started to increase my sodium intake with broths and that seems to have helped. I am still beyond hungry and don’t know how I will go on full liquids starting Tuesday next week. I got my sodium intake from broth and I have trie a few and sooooo many are just nasty and taste like chemicals to me. What kids of broths have others enjoyed that I can try out to help me through this next phase?
  7. I had a headache for a week after starting my pre-op diet. It was hard to get through but finally stopped. I was dizzy too and just out of it overall. I had numerous people tell me it was carb withdrawal. I did a bunch of research and there is all sorts of info online about it. Some names of it are ‘ keto flu’ and ‘ carb withdrawal’. I am 7 days into my month long pre-op and my biggest problem is that i am soooo hungry. It is making me soooo nervous that if I have this surgery and am still hungry I don’t know how I will do it! I need some advice for sure.
  8. I definitely want to know this too because I may have mine at the same time too!
  9. Nice-how long does this part last before it stops?
  10. I am definitely going to try this! Great idea.
  11. I am on day 4 of my 4 week pre-op diet. I am allowed 3-4 shakes and one small meal consisting of 4oz lean meat and 1cup not starchy veggies for this first 2 weeks. I am having this dull headache and a little dizziness and wanted to see if others have experienced this or not? Oh, and I want to eat my arm off too😀! I am staying on track and today was a little easier than yesterday. Have any of you added chia seeds to your protein shakes in this phase to give you a little volume to hold onto when drinking liquids?
  12. I am curious to hear success stories from people over 350lbs before surgery. I am in this boat and realize this experience may be a little different for people who have more to lose. My date is set for October 1st and I am so excited and nervous and would like to hear some specs on weight loss throughout the process. Since everyone is so different, I would like to see some specs on SW, 3 months out, 6 months out, 1 year out!
  13. I am having a time of finding a chewable or liquid option for my blood pressure meds. The med I am having trouble finding a solution for is Diltiazem. I talked to the cardiologist but they think I can just open up the capsule and take the 2 little tabs inside but those are not crushable either. Anyone experience this issue and have a solution?

    Meds After Surgery

I was thinking this same thing and have been baffled this has been such an odd question to ask. I plan to push harder this week to get an answer about this pronto! Thanks for the encouragement.

    Meds After Surgery

This is great info! I am happy to hear someone got this same run around too . It just seems like no one has asked this before and it is causing confusion for my doc and pharmacist. I plan to reach out again this week to try and get a final answer on this. Thank you!

    Meds After Surgery

Ok, so this is still posing issues for me and i still need to know if anyone has a solution to this because it sounds like I should not just stop taking this medication. I should have explained originally that I am not taking this meds for blood pressure but a heart arrhythmia/palpitations that are pretty bad if I don’t take it. These won’t kill me but it wakes me up at night and sends me into a fight or flight response that is no good and keeps me from sleeping. I have asked the cardiologist and pharmacist and there just seems to be so much confusion about my options. I am finding it hard to believe I am the only bariatric patient that is on this drug and had to resolve this prior to surgery. Seems strange and hoping this larger pool of people can help me find somebody in my same position who can provide a solution! I have 3 weeks to figure this out but if I need to switch meds I sort of wanted to do that next week to give me time to adjust.
  17. Irrational fear #47...once approved can insurance come back and decline my pre-auth?
  18. I am having surgery at the Multicare bariatrics center in Spokane,WA. Not nearly as exciting as Mexico - I wish I was going there instead!
  19. My date is 10/1 too! I am going through the same thing - excited and nervous all at the same time. I am also consumed and cannot stop reading and watching YouTube videos on everything related to WLS surgery. I am set for RNY and it cannot come soon enough. I really hope that this tool will help be able to live again!
  20. I just had to take a 100 question computer test with lots of questions. Then I had to sit with the psychologist for about 30 minutes and talk about my weight loss struggles and talk about how this surgery would not solve my food addiction and I need to ensure I do the head work as part of this process. I am still a month out from surgery but already know if I see myself slipping to my old ways I will be scheduling some time with the psychologist on a regular basis if needed. Good luck to you but it should be a quick and easy process for you!
  21. I only had to get an EKG and then my cardiologist asked me if I could walk without being extremely out of breath. That was it and they sent that in to the Bariatric center as my cardiac clearance needed. I even have a slight heart arrhythmia I got diagnosed with last year but he still said I am clear and ready for surgery.
  22. All of your journeys are sooo encouraging to read! For those of you who did not say, can you tell me how long your journey took from beginning to end? I know this will not be easy but I am so ready for this shot at success once and for all! My 4 week pre-op was this morning and the diet begins tomorrow. This has just gotten real!
  23. I am set for 10/1 and also getting RNY. I went to my 4 week (but really more like 3) pre-op appt this morning and start the diet tomorrow. There were 5 other people in my meeting this morning and all of them were getting RNY. Things are starting to get real!
  24. Just left my pre-op and was actually down 6 lbs since my original consult visit (plus I also lost the 15 I gained due my reaction to beta blocker meds). I could not be happier about this and I officially start the pre-op 4 week diet tomorrow! This is about to get real😀.
