  1. I know it's lower than most, that's why I posted here to find other people who got sleeved to prevent getting above BMI 40. I'm looking for anyone else in my preop situation who has more information on how long it takes to reach a weight loss goal. We all have goals - some of use just start out closer to it than others...but the struggle is the same:)
  2. I started at a BMI of 32 and I'm 4 weeks post op and have only lost 7 lbs - after surgery. (I gained 5 after surgery and took over a week to lose that gain). I'm discouraged. Yeah I know it's going down instead of up and I should be grateful. But I just can't understand how I can barely consume 500 calories a day and not lose more weight even after adding more walking and light weights. I've done diets before surgery and have lost more weight in less time. I'm totally confused:(

    6 Days Pot Op

I had my surgery on Tuesday and was home by Friday am. Immediately after surgery I had zero pain or discomfort, but I was extremely dizzy. So I waited about 7 hours before venturing our of my bed after sitting up for about 5 minutes. By morning I was walking around like nothing. The main thing I'm dealing with is the water retention. My hand from where the IV was is still "swollen". I came back home and weighed myself after drinking only about 30 oz of water in 4 days to find I gained 5 pounds!!! Shocked isn't quite strong enough to describe how I felt. I'm assured that its all water weight and it will go away quickly. My incisions are nearly healed with mild bruising around. I walk everywhere, not without effort, and I sip water and clear protein drinks all day - 1 sip about every 5 mins or so. Absolutely no vomiting at all, which I am pleasantly surprised by. Guess I'll wait for this water to go away?? Oh, and a weird thing is I started my cycle 3 days after surgery. I still had 12 more days to go when it spontaneously started. I thought that was weird.

    Not telling anyone

I only told my husband and children for the entire planning and preop phase. I finally told my RN sister because I was afraid she'd find out eventually years down the line and she would be hurt. I figured couldn't hurt to have an RN to call with questions. But yeah, no one will know. Like other people mentioned, this is going to hard enough without judgement and jealousy from others. I never said anything to anyone even when I was dieting before. It's always "diet and exercise" should anyone be bold enough to ask.
