Here are mine. This is 3 weeks and 3 days Post-OP. I picked off most of the glue starting at about two weeks as it was peeling off. -

Thought I would try some chocolate mint protein pots de creme. Didn't have any mint extract so I used sugar free caramel pecan syrup. I cooked them too long as they still seemed to liquidy after cooking for 20 minutes. Tasted good but really sent my stomach churning. Might be because they were more brownie like than custard. https://www.bariatricfoodie.com/mint-chocolate-protein-pots-de-creme-featuring-matrix-mint-cookie-protein/ -

I disagree with a lot of what he says, but there are few good points. I don't see working out as a punishment, but I get an endorphin rush that boosts my energy. That said working out on 600 calories a day is not good. For me working out actually helped curb my appetite and gave me motivation to eat better. My thinking was why eat junk when I am working out to improve my health. -

Been waiting to try Shelly's ricotta bake since I moved on to pureed foods. The pie pan is 6 inches and the recipe made two pans (four servings total). So now I have three more meals to look forward to. -

Welcome on board Miles. Good luck to you in your journey. They gave me a nice double insulated cup in the hospital so I carry it everywhere to remind me to keep sipping water constantly. I even fill it up and sit it on my nightstand so I can sip when i get up at night to go to the bathroom and first thing in the morning. Don't focus on the big goal of 2 liters, but break it down to hourly goals to meet. It makes it easier for me to get my water in daily. -

When I started in July 2019 my BMI was 61. My surgeon wanted me to get down to a BMI of 50 to make surgery easier on me. On day of surgery my BMI was 48. Today it is 45. Here are my four phases Phase one - two weeks - full liquids 45 grams of protein. Phase two - two weeks - pureed foods 60 grams of protein. Phase three - two weeks soft foods 60 grams of protein. Phase four - advance to regular diet adding one new food at a time to see how it is tolerated goal of 80 grams of protein per day. During my one week check up my surgeon said I would probably lose about a pound a day for the first three months. Each surgeon/practice is different from what I have seen, but the basic principles remain the same. Get your protein and water in at first. Then you can expand your menu when you move to the full foods phase. -
4 days Post-OP struggles
Uomograsso replied to KBailey2022's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have to drink. In the hospital the gave me one ounce cups and I needed to drink four per hour. One ounce every 15 minutes. My stomach hurt at first but knowing I had to do it to get released made me do it. Eventually it got better. I don't think there is any magic trick, but just break it down to one ounce every 15 minutes. Set a timer if you need to. -

Just did my weekly weigh in, down 19 lbs in two weeks since surgery. Eating lunch, 3 oz of refried beans which is taking me about 25 minutes to eat. Prior to surgery it would have been less than a minute to scarf them down along with a bunch of tortilla chips. -
Check the restaurants website ahead of time. Most chain restaurants have menus online and as do a lot of local places. Some have "healthy" choice options that are smaller portions. Planning ahead should help along with all the great recommendations given already.

The sriracha sauce I use, Tuong Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce, only has 1 carb and 5 calories per serving. Not sure if you can get it in EU though. Maybe from Amazon?

Two weeks out from surgery and moving on to phase 2, pureed foods. Just had about 3 oz of refried beans for lunch and they were soooooo good. Nice to be able have something with a little more substance than jello or pudding. -
My biggest regret is not having surgery sooner.

So Ready ... But Yet Another Wait

I have Aetna and hate them, but I did get my approval in about 5 business days, so that was a welcome surprise. -
My knees have been pretty good, but my ankles were my problem. I couldn't stand for more than 15 minutes before they woul start hurting. I took ibuprofen four pills at a time almost daily. Probably at least 5 days a week. When I got to my heaviest most days I would take it right before bed because my hip, leg and back hurt and I needed it to sleep. Some days I took three or four doses of four pills. I still wonder why I never developed an ulcer. I am two weeks post op and over 100 lbs lighter than my heaviest weight and I have zero joint pain. I feel better than I have in years. I wish I would have done this sooner. Even losing 20 lbs you will feel a difference in you knees. Stick with it, it will pay off.

It took my stomach 4 to 5 days before it stopped "flip flopping" when drinking water. Each day after surgery did get better though. Try different temperatures to see if that helps. I could do sugar free popsicles and jello with fewer issues as well. I had VSG so I don't know how that compares to RNY though. -

Has anyone used their FSA/HSA visa debit card to pay at surgeon’s office?
Uomograsso replied to Puffy-no-more's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have an HSA Mastercard/debit card and use it at doctor's office to pay all the time. Just paid a bill there this Monday for my 1 week Post-OP checkup. -
I wasn't given calorie goals, rather I have daily protein goals. During two week liquid phase I need to get minimum of 45 grams of protein daily. I have been averaging about 60 to 75 daily with about 500-600 calories per day. I get to start on phase two on this Thursday, yeah! Phase two for me is pureed food for two weeks. For this phase I need to get a minimum of 60 grams of protein per day. Phase three is soft foods for two weeks, again getting minimum of 60 grams of protein each day. Phase four is to integrate regular foods back into my diet getting 60-80 grams of protein per day. Eating three meals a day with 1 to 2 snacks. This is all based off the information given to me by my dietitian. So long story short I am concentrating on protein not calories.

HELP - Drank Water w/ Meals Post Op
Uomograsso replied to SamDS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Drinking water while eating will flush the food right through your pouch and you will not feel full. If you go back to no drinking 30 minutes prior to eating I think you will regain that "full" feeling. -

I had a similar thing crop up during my testing. When I had my EGD they found a mass in my duodenum. They took a biopsy and it turned out to be non-cancerous, when. I went to a specialist and he recommended leaving it as the mass was near my pancreatic and bile ducts. He said the surgery to remove it was very involved and since it was non-cancerous it would be best to leave it and just check it in six months. He said me having WLS surgery would be a plus as if I had to have surgery, losing weight would make that surgery easier. Trust your doctor and definitely get a second opinion from someone who specializes in pancreatic surgery. It will work out for you. -
You look great!
