What do you do to amp up your weight loss/break a stall?
Cherylmilla replied to Cherylmilla's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ah, but to be 6'2" with the metabolism of a male (just a little jelly here, LOL). I added an extra protein snack and I'm walking, doing Zumba, etc. I know, inches...I know. I'm glad you get me and the number on the scale. It's frustrating. Soooo close to that big 100. Still more to go, uggg. -
What do you do to amp up your weight loss/break a stall?

That's a wonderful read, thanks! I'm embracing it. It's hard, 2 months out. I feel like because I lost 50 lbs before the surgery that my stall came a little fast. I was hoping to milk more out of the 6 month 'honeymoon phase.' I'm sure I can and I will. -
All the good ones are taken! (I had to, because that's what women always say, LOL). Women care about sex and their men, you just have to find the right one.

October 2019 Surgery Peeps - how are we doing?
Cherylmilla posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey all! I was wondering how all my October 2019 people are doing? I'm ok. I pinched a nerve in my neck, so I can't go hard on the exercise, like I'm dying to do, but I'm down 40 lbs since my October 28th surgery, so hey, I'm happy. I've almost lost 100 lbs since I started dieting on my own in July (less than 10 lbs to go). I'm a different person and it's amazing. -
October 2019 Surgery Peeps - how are we doing?
Cherylmilla replied to Cherylmilla's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was a STH, but I had to give it up this year (new car, the surgery....just not in the financial horizon for this year). I was in agony, because this was supposed to be THE turnaround season......and yeah..... I'm hurt by the Hallsy stuff, but he didn't seem to want to stay anymore. I can't say I fully blame him. If anyone told us this is how this season would have gone, we all would have laughed. I remember being a bright-eyed woman at the draft festival in June. Sigh. Now we just gotta keep Palms and a few other key guys and see what we can do. I listen to a podcast run by a few guy friends and it's awesome. Some of the old Devils come out to the games and watch the away games with us. I'll let you know when/where the next time that happens. We have a blast. Lets Go Devils podcast if you want to check them on on Facebook or search podcasts. -
October 2019 Surgery Peeps - how are we doing?
Cherylmilla replied to Cherylmilla's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're a NJ Devils fan....me too! I honestly feel like I would be further along if I didn't have the pinched nerve and I could work out more. It's hard for us not to judge ourselves or compare ourselves to others who've lost so much. But we're doing ok. 32 pounds is amazing! -

Hawaii is on my bucket list for one day. Hope you have an amazing time and you're doing so well. -
I'm in NJ, where the food is so good! I miss bread (NJ pizza, bagels and subs) and Chinese. I may miss pasta sometimes, but that passes. I will miss the Christmas cookies this year. But honestly, while it can be hard, nothing beats the way I feel now and, while I'm not where I want to be with my weight just yet, I like the way I look sooooo much better than I did. I know I'll get there. I did this for my health and, very quickly, I got off my blood pressure meds and I'm not on any meds. That's amazing and freeing. Love my tool!

I think this might be a fun topic
Cherylmilla replied to Isabelmonster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm six weeks post opp sleeve (10/28). I was told 1/2 cup of food, if I can do it, per meal. I usually don't come close. I had 1 and a half eggs this morning. A light babybell cheese as a snack. about 1/3 cup of tender grilled chicken with a little bit of sauteed veggies. Dinner will probably be more of the chicken, since I got it at the deli by my work - I can get several meals from one serving. Sometimes I have another snack. I get my 64 oz of water in. -

I also use Myfitnesspal. You can adjust macros. I kept mine at my old, but I know where I have to be anyway. I track my protein, calories and sugar and it keeps track of my weight (I don't do measurements...I should, but I don't). -

I went through an odd year, before I had my surgery on 10/28. I lost a lot of friends and when I started my journey, I realized that some of these people were very negative towards this idea. To my skinny, closest friend - me becoming thin was a threat to her. It was the one thing she could lord over me. I'm glad she doesn't know. To the others, who were average weight or heavy - going out to eat and their constant drinking - I wouldn't be a part of it anymore. In the end, I choose me and my health. I have a supportive husband and my son is on board (he was scared about the surgery, but I know he wants me to be healthy - even though he had one really negative comment recently). My coworkers have been amazing (most of them have; some have said some crappy things; some have had the surgery themselves). You have to do what's best for you. Nothing will change who you are, if you don't let it but yes, you'll change in some ways. Your confidence will grow and you will feel better about yourself. If someone equates that to you being "not nice" then that's their issues and, maybe, they're just not that nice. All the best to you!!

Fkn up Already - 1 week post op
Cherylmilla replied to FknUpAlready's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I concur, I don't think the original post was legitimate (I don't like being negative, but I think that may be the case). If it was, that's crazy. Who would go through all that, the pain, the prep, and then eat soup and a bread stick. If I have too much shake I feel full and that pressure we all know and love (in the chest). I'm a few day away from pureed and, while I'm excited to have a scrambled egg, I'm also nervous. I think we all get that way ,because we want to be healed and not feel yuck. I can't imagine this being real, only because I would think it would cause the person extreme pain. -
Hi All, So I had my gastric sleeve surgery October 28th. I'm back at work today, but I'm still walking in so much pain, by the large incision site and in my back. Note that (TMI ahead) I also got my period. When I walk, there is a nagging awful pain by my incision site. Did anyone else have this? I didn't really want to go back to work today, but I don't want to lose all of my vacation time (I used my own time, because I was told you'll only need a week and all that). Did anyone else take longer to heal than others? I expected to be up and running so much faster that I feel like a wuss. Please tell me I'm not the only one.

I was told it helps remedy most of the issues. It was one of the factors in my choosing to have WLS.

I was thinking this as well. The docs all seem to favor RNY if you already have GERD/Reflux. I did the sleeve because I didn't have refulx.

pain and walking
Cherylmilla replied to Cherylmilla's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is cool they said you could do it. I have one stitch on the outside. I haven't called anyone about anything, but if I have to, I will. I'm taking it day by day. -
pain and walking
Cherylmilla replied to Cherylmilla's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same here; I was going to return in a week (this past Monday) but I couldn't go back yesterday. I came back today. I feel 2 weeks would have probably been best. I agree that the pain is nearly unbearable. I know I'll go home tonight and use my pain meds. I hate doing that, and regular Tylenol has been ok through the day, but I want a peaceful sleep and some relief. Hoping that maybe pushing myself to walk more today will help, like everyone says it will. Thus far, it doesn't seem to be working. Yes, it's not as bad as it was Wednesday or Friday or Saturday even, but it's still horrible and, the more days we feel like this, the more it does play the mental game and wreak havoc. I'm both physically and mentally exhausted. Rant though I will, I agree; I know I made the right decision and I feel positive. I see change already (even my co-workers who know - I have been open about my journey - said they see the weight loss) and I know there is -
pain and walking
Cherylmilla replied to Cherylmilla's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Exactly! You said a mouthful!!! I just want to be normal. we are hardly "eating" any calories, so we're tired from that. Then add the pain (and TMI, I got my period a few days ago, so through that on there). Thankful I have everyone on here to gripe to, LOL. I know my husband is sympathetic, but he can't fully understand (I'm glad he doesn't have to go through this). -
pain and walking
Cherylmilla replied to Cherylmilla's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn't doubt it. All the other incisions have been fine. I knew I heard about the big incision being a pain, because that's where the stomach came out, but I did figure it had something to do with the outside stitch. It's so annoying. I just want to be able to walk normally, not all hunched over. I went back to work today, and it even contributes to feeling uncomfortable in my office chair. -

Yes, I have an outside stitch, but I wasn't told we could do anything about it ourselves. I see the surgeon for my post op on 11/13. -
pain and walking
Cherylmilla replied to Cherylmilla's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I walk hunched over. I bought and wear an abdominal binder and that only helps so much. Also, from sitting on the edges of chairs and such this past week, my bottom feels uncomfortable. I want to feel semi normal. It's frustrating. I broke down twice since surgery, over the pain. I hope the increased walking helps because I need something. I need to feel better. -

Mine is my right side, the big incision, where they removed the stomach. It's treacherous. It feels like something is pulling for dear life. Ugg. Deep down, I know I'm not a wuss, but there are a few women (older than me too) who had it at work and they're all, you're still in pain? Really? Yes really! I'm not lying. -
