Oh I forgot to mention that I learned on this site that the HEATING PAD is your friend. If you get a chance invest in one because it brought me great comfort. -

Hey Tash, everybody is different when it comes to our bodies healing, and if your Doc thinks your fine trust him/her especially if you trusted him to do your surgery. Girl, don't let the regrets start because you won't be able to see the blessings that will come later. Stay strong and think of the postive reasons that had you motivated to have your surgery, I know that I do everyday. I often have to tell myself not to talk about it all the time LOL! Have a blessed day! -

Jwrn, stay strong you are doing fine and remember it's all worth it. -
I have Cigna in Tn and I was told that it takes a month to get a response, and it did. Don't worry until it is about a month. If they call you before then, then that's great. Good Luck!

watermelon seeds replied to BeckyinTn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow Loseweightin08, you have lost that much weight just this year WOWOWOWOWOWOW!!! I want to know what you did if you don't mind. I was banded on Sept.8th and I'm down 28 lbs and I have 86 lbs to go to meet my goal of 150 that I've set for myself. I was told that us Lapbanders can lose as much as the Gastric patients but at a much slower pace like a pound a week, but you have proven that it can be faster. Are you working out? How many calories are you eating everyday? Okay, I am so excited for you and I because you give me hope for myself and I thank you. Please pm me if you like. WOWOWOWOWOWOW!!! Congrats! You are doing an awesome job cool. -
I had to take the test and it was a long long test but, I did not have to take it twice. I will say this remember that they ask you some of the same questions over again and in different ways so be consistant. Good Luck!

Congrats Becky, just think you are now a Bandster YAHOO!! I was so excited that I could not wait to post once I got banded, and the support that I got from this message board had made all the difference in the world of being banded. Someone told me yesterday that I need to stay off of these boards because of the bad things that are sometimes reported. Now, I don't know about you but I believe when someone tells their story it can sometimes help me and sometimes don't but I don't stay away because there is some bad. Stay strong and take it easy. Keep us posted on your progress. -
I was finally banded on Sept 18th!!!
watermelon seeds replied to Shauna80's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on your new band! It's good to know that you are feeling pretty okay and that your gas pains are not bad. I bet you are glad to be home. I will just say this, I figured out later that the getting that protein in (the amount they say you need) is a major key to your success. I had experienced some hunger pains and If I had of been getting enough protein in I would have not been suffering with those pains. Now I finally found shakes that I like and I get them in and those hunger pains are gone. It's something if we just do what they tell us and don't procrastinate, we will find that everything works together for a reason. My shakes are EAS 100 Whey Protein mix 23 grams of Protein a scoop and, Unjury and the protein is 20 grams of Protein per scoop. I get protein in other ways also but I am sure that I get a lot of it from these shakes mixed in somewhere in my day. Good Luck and Keep in touch. -
Any September Banders?
watermelon seeds replied to Keleka's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey penguin, have you lost 13 since surgery or including pre-op? I too was banded on the 8th and I am still so excited. How was everything for you during your post-op? My hardest thing now is remembering to not even drink a sip while eating. I still find myself so dry that I have to at least take a sip of water. I also wanted to ask if it's okay if I add you to my contacts cause I am trying to keep in touch with people who were banded on the same day as I or very close. Have a blessed day and Happy Belated Birthday! -

watermelon seeds replied to Foxglove's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would call my Doc at least to let him check it out. Do you have to pay that much just to see him? I just got banded on Sept.8th so I have not experienced much problems yet but keep looking on this board I am sure that there is some people that may know more. Good Luck -
Help Im Hungry!!
watermelon seeds replied to ckelly37's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey CKelly, I was also banded on the 8th but I was on liquids for 3 days and then day 3-14 I am on pureed foods. Those darn hunger pains are terrible, I could not believe how tough they were those first few days. Now I am eating chicken noodle soup mushed not a lot of noodle because I know that they swell up but plenty of broth. I've had applesauce, and plenty of oatmeal which is what I mostly want every meal just because It goes down smooth and I don't seem stopped up at times. I actually just found out today that chili at Wendys is on our pureed menu WOW!!! It's a long road but it's so worth it,especially if you went through surgery to get to this point. I keep reminding myself of that one important thing so that I will stay on track. Stay Strong! Can I add you to my contacts since we were banded the same day? -
Hey Irish and everyone else, I chose to tell some of my coworkers, family and church family. I already decided before I had the surgery that I did not mind telling people but I would be very firm and so short that they will know that the rest is none of there business if someone came to me with any negativity. I was so excited that I was making an awesome decision to get my life healthy that I did mind sharing. If someone ask me just curious questions then no prob but, if they seem mean the main thing that I say is it's not for everyone and it's a personal decision. Stay strong and one thing I've learned is the people on this board we will be frank and truthful of all of our stories.Stay here and you find great comfort wether good or bad. Goodluck!

Any September Banders?
watermelon seeds replied to Keleka's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Angie, please take your pain meds at least to see if that's where your pain is coming from. Don't just sit there in bad pain, I'm sure that you are suffering. I know I could not have made it the first two days without my pain meds around the clock. Goodluck and CONGRATS!!! Remember that everyone are not super people, everyone don't bounce back the same. I am just now learning that. You went to church and to the movies the next day. I might need to take that back you have to be one of those people who bounce back FAST. -
Post-op Pain
watermelon seeds replied to watermelon seeds's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Celnun, I just woke up and I feel great so far. I might actually try to get out and walk on my street at least twice and maybe that will keep me in good spirits and pain free. Restlessmonkey I had not thought that maybe that pain could be gas because I really thought that I was letting it out and because pain was not in my chest like I expected, I thought that the pain was something else (that's something to think about). Alright everyone try to have a blessed day and I will keep in touch. Thanks -
Hello everyone, I remember reading that so many people went back to work after three or four day's. I don't know what kind of people they can be. I could not go back after a week because of pain but as long as I took my pain meds I was fine. Today I decided that I would start to whin myself off of my pain meds from taking them every six hours. I took the meds about 10 this morning and I waited all day to take more and now it's 9:48 and I am really hurting at my port area and under the arm on the port side.:frown: Am I trying to whin myself too early? Has anyone experienced this before? How many days does most people take their pain meds? I don't see my doctor until the 23rd and I was banded on Sept.8th.

Post-op Pain
watermelon seeds replied to watermelon seeds's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well restlessmonkey, I did okay most of today but then this evening is when I started hurting just in my port area. I actually thought the pain should be subsided by now. I was just wondering if I was trying to get up and move around to soon maybe that had something to do with it. I did not pick anything up I just did a little walking around the house then sat awhile. Thanks for responding I also want to mention that restlessmonkey you are the ultimate trooper. I guess I will keep in touch and get some of your motivation. -
Lori I love that sign! it's so unique

Congrats! I remember that wonderful feeling when I got that exciting news but it took about three weeks for me to get my approval. I got approved in the third week on July and because my doc is so busy doing surgeries and patients I had to wait until Sept. 8 to get the surgery. Hurray!

gas pain or something more?
watermelon seeds replied to MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, I was banded on Sept. 8th and I only had very minimal amount of gas pain but, when I did get up and walk my gas would then come out. I'm so sorry about your pain and I can't believe that the doctors office did not have any ideas. When I was in the hospital one of the nurses said her husband had the lapband surgery and she said that he tried laying on either side and it helped to relieve some gas. I don't know if that will help but I hope that you feel better. -
I am glad that everyone is doing okay. Kis I guess you are like me with the gas. I had some but not serious pains like everyone else but I am glad that I knew what to expect from the people on this site. It's better to prepare for it and not have it than to not know anything and to think your dying ha. Congrats everyone
