Greetings! I was banded on the 14th and still can't swallow more than about 1/2 teaspoon maximum (I measured) at a time and the pain is quite intense internally. Feels similar to when you swallow a bunch of air. I have the same reaction with hot, warm and cold liquids, whether clear or Protein drink. I was able to drink maybe 24 ounces total yesterday with the tiniest sips, each one being painful. Have others experienced this or should I be concerned? (Again, this is an internal thing; my incision and entry points do not pain me at all and have never, with or without pain killer. That part is amazing me!) Thank you in advance! JohnG

Day 6 Still lot of pain swallowing
JohnG replied to JohnG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
But you have a full week of healing over me. When were you able to have some food and no longer just liquids? I am still on just Clear Liquids and trying to sip the Protein shake so I can get some nutrition into me. The pain was there from when I woke up from surgery. They gave me some ice chips and swallowing was very painful, like I could feel it go through two "locks" in my system once it hit the bottom of my esophagus. Thanks! JohnG -
Greetings! New to banding and new to the forum! I was banded this past Wednesday, May 14 at the Mercy Hospital in Springfield with by the excellent Dr. John Kasper, son of the renowned and now retired Dr. Robert Kasper. I have to say, compared to an inguinal hernia I had repaired a few years ago, (along with a few small hernias that were found at the time), the pain from this has been nothing. I had my bed and bedroom set up to be on my back unable to get out of bed except to the bathroom for a week. What a pleasant surprise to find almost no pain from the surgery itself! HOWEVER, the stomach pain thing is altogether different from anything I ever experienced. I have read the responses to others who are experiencing what I am now at day 4 . . . the swollen, full, "something is stuck in there" feeling that is worse than it was on the first three days. But I'm not taking any pain killers anymore, either. They bound me up as I should have expected and now don't know what to do about it. Yesterday afternoon, I had a bout with hiccoughs that lasted about 20 minutes. Wow! That hurt. I had a couple more bouts with them yesterday and then none today but the muscles hurt because of them yesterday. So I suppose everything is going according to everyone else's experience. Thank you for this forum so I am able to see that I am not alone in what I am experiencing and there is (probably) no need to panic about this full and swollen feeling. THANK YOU! JohnG

Any dictionary of initialisms and lingo used here?

I've been looking around to see if I could find out what things like PB and BO and Sliming and other such initialisms and lingo mean. Is there a thread already? THANKS! JohnG -
