I will be 6 weeks post op for Thanksgiving and I cannot imagine hosting it (or Christmas) this year. I’m hoping a family member offers to host, tbh. My mother died one year ago (she lived with us) and the holidays aren’t the same. She and I would do it together and all my siblings and their families would come. It was nice. But I digress... I think this is going to be a very different holiday season for me which is fine. However, I feel guilt about my husband, kids, et al.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery! -
I hope your mom is okay.

I would be very disappointed, also. Please keep us updated when you have a new date. I’m 10/15 and it can’t get here soon enough!
-
This is all confusing. If RNY doesn’t have the malabsorption component, why bother re-routing? Why take mega vitamins above those taken by vsg patients? I’ve googled, also, and it doesn’t make a lot of sense.

Welcome to the October crew!

Hi all~ Does anyone else suffer with gout? Mine appears to be familial in that no typical foods or drinks trigger an attack. I have recently been put in Uloric $$$ because I had a reaction to cheap allopurinol. Oh and so far uloric pills aren’t working yet because I am sitting here in gout hell and taking prednisone. Ugh I know being overweight can be a cause so I’m really hoping post RNY that I can possibly get off meds. However, my thin family members are all gout sufferers and take allopurinol daily. Has anyone had gout go away (meaning lower Uric acid levels) post WLS? Thanks!

I’m crossing my fingers!

I have had both studies done around 10+ years apart. Both showed sleep apnea. I didn’t wear the cpap mask ten years ago because I couldn’t sleep with it. Last year I began using the cpap with the nose pillows and I can sleep just fine with it. I am hoping the cpap goes away with the weight loss after rny on 10/15. At home was better and less invasive. I found it difficult to sleep in a room hooked up to a lot of “stuff” and being video monitored. Eek! Lol

Fight, fight, fight and fight

That is very odd for a medically necessary revision due to GERD. Did the insurance company even read your history? Maybe surgeon can fight the six month wait? -

I don’t typically wish the summer away but I sure wish it was October and we could get this show on the road! Lots of pre op appointments coming up but other than that I am just waiting patiently. I have been working on journaling my food and thoughts. Making small changes. Setting small daily goals. I’ve lost 8 lbs since July and would love to drop a few more before 10/15/19 Surgery Date. I’m not dieting per se. I’m just making small changes and the loss of 8 lbs is due to those changes. I have been enjoying reading everyone’s posts and I look forwarding to finding others October people. Thanks for reading.

You look great! Congratulations!

I’m going in October my pre op doesn’t sound as rough. It is two weeks and I will do protein drinks for breakfast and dinner and lunch is supposed to be small meal
-
I just ordered the ISO 100 in cookies and cream and it is a tad too sweet but I can dilute with more water. I am also starting to pick up the vitamins and supplements. I will probably be drinking shakes for life as I am not a big protein eater. I had the lapband for 5 years and I typically threw up from protein. I hope I don’t have the same issues with the RNY.
-
Oh good! There are a few of us here! Are any of you trying to diet? They told me I don’t have to until the pre op but to start making better choices. I have dropped 9 lbs doing that. However, I would like to lose some more prior to pre op because I know the results afterwards will only be that much better. I wish it was here already!
