Where can I get a lapband adjustment that is reasonably priced? In the greater Toronto area. Scarborough/Markham/Richmond Hill

I had my port moved from my lower left side to my upper left. Closer so the tubing isn't stretched. When they basically ripped the port out of the scar tissue (implanted 2008 repositioned 2012) I had a baseball lump. The nurse insisted it was scar tissue and to massage it in the shower. WELL it's still there and it's a hernia caused by the surgeon port removal. It's worse now that I have put on weight. I am the beginning stage of having band removed and getting bypass.

Hey All, I had lapband in at slim and 2008 it's still inside me doing nothing. I know that there is a Dr David urbach that will remove them but he will say that he knows nothing about them and it's covered under Ohip. I would love to have mine removed and possibly have the sleeve done but it's not covered. I too would love to get in on a class action lawsuit I believe many moons ago many years ago someone attempted this and it just didn't go anywhere productive.

Glenn Sorry to hear that you are having troubles. How did all your symptoms begin before you were diagnosed? This worries me as I get spasms in my esophogus like heart palpitations and I don't know why. I would suggest that you get a referral from your family doctor to see Dr. Yau and it took me about 2 weeks before his office responded to my family doctor, all in all it took two months before I could see him. I heard rumor at first that they wouldn't remove the band without a cost and now I am hearing the opposite that they will remove the band without a cost. I was refused the bypass because I had a lapband and my doctors secretary suggested that I remove the band and reapply for gastric bypass.

RoseIvy! That's GREAT news. hmmmmm something seem very fishy. This doctor is also the NEW Medical Director, Staff Bariatric Surgeon at Slimband.. So if I understand this correctly they have set up adjustments through the surgeon at his clinic for $120 however if you want an adjustment at the clinic it will cost you $200. He also works at the Scarborough Hospital as surgeon Dr. Yau. I wonder if he would sign your consent form so you could go have your adjustments done by Sabrina at half the cost.

ROSEIVY, I gave you contact information for band adjustments did you contact Sabrina? Jagosta, I beleive Dr Yau is still working from his office in Scarborough. You would need a referral from your GP to see Dr Yau since he is a surgeon/specialist. I am waitng for an appoinment as my referral was sent on March 17th...it has been 3wks and i still havent heard. I am going directly to my family doctor 2moro so I will follow up and find out what is going on.

OH and the best part was that THEY deleted my account from the community when they got there new program!!! unreal!

Thank GOD I am not the only one! TLBC did not dissolve they had to change the name due to a copyright infingement!!! I was banded in 2008. I was told the exact same thing during the time I was in the middle of a medical investigation. It is totally disgusting that they think they can do this. I was told that i had no furhter support as they just don't have the manpower. I paid 18,0000 for lifetime of support and adjustments. I was given a final FREE fill in December and going forward I would have to pay $200 for fills.. I called back to get some information from my file and was told that I had to pay $25.00 since my file was in archive and purged from the system. As for Nancy, the BEST nurse ever!!! SHE will always be the BEST and Sharon can suck eggs!! I know where she went and she can be easily found if needed. The government will never approve the band in my opion because it will never be successfull in comaprison to theother procedures. If anyone needs reliable adjustments I know where you can have them done by a credible nurse who worked for TLBC at a resonable cost. Now I havent had any adjustments because I not wan to void my warranty BUT as far as Slimband is concerend we have no warranty. I think it absolutely terrible how they have handled this whole situation. I was thinking of getting a new reoporter to do a story. THere were several done prior on the new owner of Slimband.

Thank you for the reply! I had no idea that this could be done! I tried to google but found nothing here in Toronto, Ontario. I wonder if maybe no one in Canada performs the surgery. ugggh! I have the lapband but would love to have the plication togo with it!
