I am 11 days post op and get to eat mushies in 3 days. I have never been so excited in my life!! But, i do got kinof a problem....How do you tell if one of your insicions are infected?? My port insicion is realy really red around it and it hurts soooo bad! Anyone had this happen to them??

I have a ten month old, and i have tasted just about everything that he eats. Sweet potatoes arent that bad...stay away from the off brads though, you can definitly tell a diffrencce between gerber and the off brand. So i would make the leap and spend the extra 20 cent and get gerber for sure....

yay! Congrats! I cant wait for that day to come for me, hopefully before the end of the year; you should be sooo proud of yourself, i know we are proud of you....that has got to be the best feeling ever!

I am almost 6 days post op and im still having HORRIBLE gas pains. Especially in the mornings, under my ribs is so bad! Gas-x, walking, drinking water, eating (drinking) slow,...ive done all of that. If anyone has any other suggestions please help me. This is such a horrible feeling....

Is my port right under the big insicion? Because my insicion is hurting really bad and im kinda scared that they have to go through the insicion to get to the port.

Im 1 week post-op....my family had taco bell for dinner, so i thought "hmm, maybe i could have some pintos and cheese from taco bell cuz maybe its a little soupy..." so once i get there i get the pintos and cheese and then (its a taco bell/kfc) i saw the mac & cheese...my favorite...so i got some. I came home thinking with my belly and not with my mind and ate both the pintos and cheese and the mac n cheese. So, now ive got these extremely hurting stomach and junk coming up into my throat and my chest hurts.... so, now i need adivce; should i make myself get sick?;what will it do to my band?.....I know i should have followed my docs instructions, so i dont need anyone to tell me how aweful i am for cheating, i just need help cuz im scared, and i feel like im gonna cry cuz i failed....

Your doc didnt prescribe any kind of nausea meds?? If not I would definitly call them and ask them to call u in something for nausea, because i know that it is a horrible feeling. I was banded the 11th and my problem is gas, it hurts bad in my shoulders. But i would rather have gas than nausea anyday...but, thats all the advice i got, good luck with it....

I was so scared and uncomfortable, i took 2 percocets to make me very sleepy and went to sleep. I think it was a good thing now that look at it because i am more than ever wanting to lose weight after cheating. I am following the doctor's orders 100%, getting 90g. of protien in, and not eating anything but water, chicken broth, and jell-o. That experience made me want to succeed even more...im kinda happy i did cheat in a way...

I gained a couple pounds also right after surgery. But then I lost a pretty good amount of weight. Don't feel bad if you weigh yourself more than once a week....I get a little obsessive about it and weigh myself once every two days. Good luck with your liquids, im half way through my liquid stage and i can't wait until i get some chicken salad in my belly....But whatever you do, dont give up. Gooood Luck! :rolleyes2:

After my surgery, they made all of my post-op appointments for me. I am 8 days post-op and they called me the day before yesterday and reminded me of my appointment for the next day at 1:15. So i went to my appointment, i got weighed, (lost 19 lbs btw) and saw the doctor. He looked at my incisions, told me i could peel the steri strips off, and told me i could start mushie foods. At the end of his whole speech (i didnt wanna cut him off and be rude) I was like, "i thought i dont start mushie food until 2 weeks out?" and he looked at my file and said "They have got you for your 2 week appointment today, if you wouldnt have said something, then you could hurt yourself by peeling your steri-strips off and lifting your 10 month old son" so, somehow the ladies at my office really goofed and put me in for a week earlier than i should have been there. Good thing i said something. I just thought it looked kind of bad on their part scheduling me 6 days post-op for my 2 week post-op appt.....

I am 4 days post op and in the worst pain, it seems like its getting worse than better, my muscles are hurting so bad on my right side. I have no appetite whatsoever im having a hard time getting my shakes down because im not hungry at all. Im afraid i will never feel normal again. I want to be hungry. I never knew how much i thought about food until this surgery. Last night i went to a car race and everyone was eating...even though i wasnt hungry, i wanted to eat so bad, i alsmost cried. Anyways, im hurting, and i just want to feel normal......is it normal to feel like its not worth it and i was happier when i could eat and i wasnt dying of pain?

Every once in a while i will get a hiccup that is a kind of hiccup and they hurt so bad! I can feel it coming on and im like "oh no!!" and sometimes they come two to three and a time and ugh, pain; then its over. Also, i have a forever air pocket when that happens. Any advice to get rid of these "kind-of" hiccups?

4 days post-op and my stomach is growling....can i eat anything like jell-o? something with any kind of substance? what would happen if i ate something?

I dont think u HAVE TO drink the ones they recomended. I drink the Smart Forme protein drinks. I really like the chocolate, it takes just like a fudge cycle. The vanilla tastes like pudding. The mixed berry is kinda gross...so i dont recomend that one. Just go to smartforme.com they also have alot of other protein choices including bars,snacks, and other drinks like hot cocoa and mocha flavors. If anything, check em out...... also, there is something called whey protien bullets, which are pretty expensive but they have 42 g. of protein per 3 oz. serving, (mix it with crystal light) unlike the smartforme that only has 15g of protein. just a few suggestions....

Just found out about whey protein bullets....anyone who has tried them, are they gross? i kinda have a problem getting my protein in sometimes, and i think that these things seem like a good idea...but they are so expensive...i would rather get opinions before i make the leap and buy them. if they are okay tasting, what is the best flavor to get?

I am hurting so bad above my biggest insision on my right side. It feels like a huge cramp (like wen you run and get one of those cramps) and i cant breathe. There is also something hard there....could anyone tell me what in the heck this pain is??

Hi all, i was banded yesterday...im not in as much pain as i thought i would be in. A few qustions: 1. Im feeling kinda of good, and i imagine in a few days i will be feeling tons better, does this mean i can lift my 25 lb. son? 2. I have not set a goal weight/BMI how do i determine this? 3. how long does it take for this annohying shoulder/gas feeling in my body? 4. Im SOO THIRSTY! But im afraid to drink Water quickly, will it make me sick if i do? Thanks all, thats it for now, im sure more questioins will come up later.... Crystal

Is my stomach small now even without a fill? I read something in my post-op packet from my doctor that my stomach is the size of a tablespoon but it dosnt say if it before or after the fill. I know if i drink something too fast i feel super sick to my stomach. I hate this feeling...i cant wait til two weeks from now when i feel slightly better.

June 11th is my surgery date. Last time i was put to sleep, i had a laproscopic appendectimy. The nurses that were in the OR said they had trouble with me breathing on my own. This has sort of scared me a bit. But this is only one of my worries. Do they always wait til your asleep to put a tube down ur nose? How bad does it really hurt after surgery? I have had an appendectimy and a c-section so im hoping it doesnt hurt more than those things....anyways, any advise woud be great for my health.:wink2:

2 days post-op. My stomach has this weird feeling, it feels kinda like gas, but maybe fullness, or hunger. This is more confusing than i thought it would be. i cant tell when im hungry because my stomach dosnt really growl. If i coiuld, i probably wouldnt eat anything at all because i dont feel like eating. im so confused.:smile:

I was banded two days ago and i still feel like crap but i expected that. I have had a huge headache and have been in the worst neckpain ever.-if anyone knows what the neckpain comes from please let me know-- I have had this flem stuck in my throat, is that normal? I feel like all im doing is drinking water and protein shakes and its making me not wanna consume anything at all....i just want to eat food. Will i ever be able to eat normally again? (i know i cant have sugar and carbs, but i feel so out of place from my family) i just want food....this is kinda depressing...

I was laying down and now, i feel a whole bunch of gassy feeling in my neck! and it is soo sore! is that normal? plus im all gassy in my belly, i just feel like its not getting any better. My surgery was yesterday....maybe yall could give me some advise
