What caused the internal bleeding? Did they have to remove a hernia at the same time as surgery or did your liver crack or something? -
Calling all February 2009 bandsters! What should we call ourselves?
Bjornsyouruncle replied to serenity55's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hey guys, I just wanted to throw it out there that there is a poll in the Feb. 2009 section of the forum that has more name options on it. You can find it here I think it might be better to go by that poll since it includes the names in this poll as well as a few others. But it is up to everyone, I guess. -
There was also the giveaway listed on the front page. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f200/free-lap-band-giveaway-85064/

I'm a surgical grossing tech for a pathology group. Which means that when you go to the doctor and have stuff cut off it gets sent to me. I find the clinically important parts and send them on to the pathologists. I think it is the best job ever. :-D

Question about pre-op weight loss & insurance approval
Bjornsyouruncle replied to Walk_By_Faith's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think it is more about making sure you are dedicated to having the surgery done than it is you losing weight. Unless your insurance or surgeon required you to lose a certain amount of weight, I think you're fine. -
Congrats! The waiting is sooo hard. Wait for approval, wait to get a date, then wait for the date to arrive!

Oh no! Bridal functions! Need advice ASAP

Tell them you're getting over food poisoning, which will explain why you don't want to drink and why you're wary of eating. -
After you meet your out of pocket max and deductible you are done. You can verify it in your benefits book, but everything after your OOPM should be covered at 100%. I think people run into confusion because someone with the same insurance provider has a different experience from theirs, but that is because everyone has different policies. It depends on the coverage your particular policy entitles you to and that depends on the contract you or your employer has with them.

I got Denied by my insurance Beech Street.
Bjornsyouruncle replied to brenpren07's topic in Insurance & Financing
What did your letter of denial say? If it is because you have a weight loss exclusion in your policy then they will not cover it. But it could also be that you haven't sent in everything they require of you. Your doctor's office may not have sent in all the information they need. -
I'm already subscribed to you  I'm IamBmeTammy.

What should we call ourselves?

I liked the February Fireballs (from the first post), or Fiery Febs, or something along those lines too. -
I haven't been banded yet but I am on my preop diet. I've lost 11 pounds and I can take my jeans off without unbuttoning them :w00t:

We can pick something that doesn't start with an F, like the Shrinking Shamrocks from last March or the New Years Hotties, etc. Ha ha, not that I have any suggestions... -
Their colon cancer listing doesn't mention anything about it. I'm guessing the anal/rectal cancers stem from dysplasia due to either STD's or inflammation.
-
My college roommate was very busty and before her breast reduction she used Goddess bras.
-
Unless there are other factors (like contracting an STD anally) then no, it doesn't make you more likely to have colon cancer. Family history of cancer, personal history of colon cancer, diseases that cause chronic inflammation or ulcers, and certain genetic conditions are the main precursors to colon cancer.

Butter Tub Savers
Bjornsyouruncle replied to cierra'sgrandma's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
We use the reusable/disposable gladware containers in our house. We have to send the kid's lunches to daycare everyday and since I work 2nd shift I also package their dinners in them for my husband to heat up. I cook meals in bulk so on a given day I might prepare 30-40 meals so I wouldn't have nearly enough of the butter or sour cream containers. -
Do most people do a combination of scale weight and measurements? Is there anyone that uses one of those scales that will also tell you your percentage body fat (and if you do, is there a good one you can recommend?)? I don't want to rely on just my weight since I've noticed in the past that I can lose inches without noticing a change on the scale.

had an appt with surgeons office...should I have a surgery date
Bjornsyouruncle replied to daco525's topic in Insurance & Financing
I can only go from personal experience, but my doctor's office doesn't schedule your surgery date until after they have the written approval from your insurance company. It is always possible that your initial request will be denied because some form isn't submitted properly or they take longer than a month to approve you. -
So I started a youtube channel to document the next year of my life (I've only posted one video so far!) and I'm really excited to see everyone's videos on there. If you didn't know there is a huge wls community! Go, watch, learn what other people have gone through! It is fantastic. Anyway, I'm all geeky and excited because I have a couple subscribers...now most of them are other wls folks, one is a friend of mine, and then there's another one I couldn't place. I check out the person's account and I'm the only channel they're subscribed to and all of their favorite videos are either asian fetish videos or upskirt videos. Oh-kay...not really weird at all. Now I'm trying to figure out what I have in common with the upskirt folks without actually having to contact the person... but you know, at this point? I'm cool with it. I'm not baring any skin, if the upskirt person is thinking about surgery maybe it even makes sense.

Bjornsyouruncle replied to swishbc's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums

It can be seen here: Youtube - IamBmeTammy For anyone that's on here and on there as well, please send me the links to your channels, I'd love to see how other people are doing! -
Anthem Blue Cross approved in 2 days!!!
Bjornsyouruncle replied to kaytiebugs's topic in Insurance & Financing
Blue Bug, a lot of health insurance companies have a maximum out of pocket amount you would be obligated to pay in a year. Check your policy! -
Your HR person might be able to give you more information, or definitely check out the paperwork you received from your insurance company (possibly a spiral bound notebook outline coverage rates and policies). You can always call them and get verification of their prexisting exclusions policy. Good luck and keep us posted!
