    BC/BS... bunch of idiots!!!!!!

Thank you! I went to the BC of CA and found what I needed. According to that profile and the fact that I am going to a COE, I should be ok. We will see....keep me in your thoughts and I will keep you in mine! Best wishes. Christy :woot:

What were your insurance company requirements for approval?

Hi Everyone! My first appointment with the nutritionist, doctor and psych eval is on May 27th. I have Blue Cross PPO and I am wondering if you have to have any documentation from your PCP. I am going to a Center of Excellence and when I talked to the insurance company they said that they would pay 100% of a COE, but I am a little worried because I had to fire my previous PCP due to the fact that he almost killed my son when he did not diagnose his Type 1 Diabetes (his bc was 829 and he had all the signs!) My new PCP doesn't believe in lap-band. I have only been going to him for a year. I hope the insurance company does not need a letter from him. Also, my BMI is 39.1 right now. I know that is under the usual 40, but I do have a couple of the co-morbidities.

Taking care of me for a change!!

Hey ChristyC....that's me too, ChristyC! I don't have a date yet as I am still in the "looking" stage, but I am pretty sure I am going to do it. I have my consultation on May 27th. With the Doctor and hopefully psycologist as the center is 2 hours away. Good thing they have a post-op clinic only 45mins. away. Anyway, when I think about it, I am so focused on food, like a drug, that those social occasions are going to be a challange for me too. I don't know anyone who has had the lap band, only the stapling procedure and although they both have gained, they are not as big as they once were are look a whole lot better. I also worry about traveling abroad. I like to go diving in Mexico and I understand that there will be no issues with the band and diving, but, we do a lot of eating and drinking when we are down there. I guess looking and feeling better will become more important to me, also, it will be nice not to have to wear 2x as much weight on my weight belt as everyone else. Best wishes on your surgery and the wedding.

I keep hearing about the pre-op diet. What does that consist of?

    Questions for Initial Consultation

This is my first reply. Best wishes. I made my initial appointment today and am just getting started in the considering phase. My consult is May 27th. I would love to keep in touch so we can compare notes. I've had several operations. When I had my tubes tied 18 years ago it was done laproscopically and it was simple. I was just a little uncomfortable for a couple of days. From what I have read, this procedure is much like. If that is true, the worst part is the IV. Take care!
